location and facilities are good

we reached there by 8:30pm at night after a long drive from Brisbane. staff informed asked for our credit card details on the way to the hotel and I informed him that I can’t provide my card details over the phone and I am happy to provide it once I see him face to face. Staff informed me that it’s their policy to collect extra $100 before the stay and will be reimbursed it after my stay but he need it before 6pm as he won’t be working after 6pm. If they can’t work after 6pm then they should not follow this policy of charging extra $100 or they should make some arrangements to collect it while booking the room. Asking for card details over the phone is totally unacceptable and because of that reason I won’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

I arrived from the airport by taxi directly to the accommodation. I was an hour early for checkin however the receptionist checked if the room was ready. It was, so I was given the key straight away. A courtesy very much appreciated. Very hot and humid in Cairns for the duration. The room air conditioning worked wonderfully to keep the in room temperature at a comfortable level. The bed was super comfortable.

This is one of several stays I have made at the South Cairns Resort. The place was originally chosen for convenience of location to where I needed to be in Cairns. I have continued to happily return here on numerous occasions because of the friendly service and comfortable lodgings. Each of the rooms I have occupied has had a kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave oven, kettle, plates, cutlery and washing up necessities. The bathroom ensuite in each room has been well lit, with a shower over a bath tub. There is a lovely looking pool area which in all my visits I have not yet had time to enjoy! Next visit I’m determined to have a swim!

Although the rooms are very tired and in need of an upgrade our stay at South Cairns Resort was very pleasant. It was clean and the beds are very comfortable. We enjoyed the meals from the Chinese Restaurant on property possibly the best I've had it was so tasty 🙂 To management and team you're doing a great job and I will definitely recommend South Cairns Resort as a great place to stay.

The adjoining rooms were great. Had everything we needed, well maintained. Leanne, the manager, was just lovely and always up for a friendly chat and was super helpful. The pool and bbq facilities were wonderful. The locals who live at the resort were also friendly and very helpful. Would absolutely recommend. And would most definitely visit again.

Pleasant welcome as a return guest. While I chose the accommodation again for its location, it has been another comfortable stay. The new owners are clearly committed to creating a space that is clean and guest oriented. I commented on the limited check-in hours in an earlier review, as on previous visits I have had to fill in a few hours between the flight arrival time and check in availability. The manager proactively said I should call ahead and if an earlier time could be arranged they would endeavour to accommodate. Thoughtful and appreciated. I will happily choose to stay here again on future visits to Cairns.

Place is a bit dated, but the room was clean and had everything we needed, the restaurant next door was fabulous,haven't had such great Asian food in a long time. Helen and Darren who run the Motel were both exceptional,Darren even drove us to the Airport when the %##* taxi didn't turn up, my daughter lives in Cairns and we live in Mittagong so we don't get up there as much as we would like. The next time we go to Cairns we will definitely stay there.👍

This was my third stay at this accommodation and all occasions have been pleasant. There are new owners since my previous visit, however, from the customer’s view the arrival process and procedures were the same. The owners were hands-on tidying the poolside area. They and other staff kept the facility clean.

An observation from my own experiences is that check in is only available between 2pm and 6pm. On the three occasions I stayed I had flown into Cairns in the morning and had many hours to wait with luggage in tow until check in was possible. I couldn’t risk booking a flight arriving later in the day incase a delay meant I missed the check in time. Possibly there is some leeway had I asked, however the impression was the times were set.

Just nitpicks, Lack of simple maintenance- faucets were loose, kitchenette faucet was supported by pipe alone, curtains fell down when moved, fridge shelving was missing, door locks cheap garbage Unnecessary noise at 5am by emptying recycle bins

The room had all the basic needs. The beds were comfortable. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

The place did not exactly look like the photos. It was more run down. That doesn't mean that it wasn't clean and tidy, but it is a little misleading. The showering was the only thing I would really change. The one in my room was awful.
