Quiet,facing beach with shady paved esplanade with exercise stations. Well used esplanade and very pleasant with restaurants at either end.Patrolled netted swimming area across the way with washrooms at base of Yorkey's Knob proper. Clean well maintained quiet retirement enclave, northern beach of Cairns. Staff were very obliging and friendly, with Aussie sense of humour. Loved the decor of my apartment. Simple and summery and clean. The divan was firm and comfortable. I was able to stay and check in early and rest there as soon as my apartment was ready. Parking was covered. Wonderful. Gardens were well kept and blooming. Birds were plentiful nesting and noisy.. Loved it.

The air conditioning said the filter needed to be changed. I forgot to mention that to management. A bedside lamp had a loose charging connection for my electronics.Pretty finicky.

Location was perfect - close to beach, shops, marina, public transport if required, and some great walks close by. Apartment was self contained, modern, very clean and had a great balcony. Swimming pool and BBQ facilities available to all guests.

Minimal bathroom supplies available - would suggest some shower gel, tissues, more loo paper etc. No kitchen cooking supplies available - would recommend a cupboard/shelf where guests could leave unused items such as salt, pepper, sauces etc - Everything had to be purchased from scratch.

The apartments had everything our family needed for a home away from home. Plus a lovely balcony which we sat out on when dining overlooking the beautiful pool and gardens. Great location within easy drive to airport and the city of Cairns. Quiet, yet some local shops boasted a grocery store, chemist shop, wine/beer store and a delightful unpretentious and friendly Thai restaurant.

I didn’t like the fact I had to walk upstairs but survived. I had an apartment on the 1st floor and my adult grandchildren were on the 2nd floor. We coped.

Location very good in quiet area. Our arrival & check in smooth & seamless. Apartment clean & comfortable

Two flights of stairs & shower in bath challenged my old body but were achievable. Ed the manager had problems with Booking.com who got pricing incorrect however Ed solved the dilemma with a smile

Clean, pleasant flat opposite a lovely beach. Friendly manager.

Excessive noise. Repairs after the floods earlier in the year, which obviously were essential, meant that there was a lot of drilling, electric saws and banging in the flat complex. The community garden mower and leaf-blower probably exceeded safety noise levels.

Close enough to Cairns without being directly in Cairns. You were across from the beach, so that was lovely. Also, you got your own car parking spot which was really good.

There were quite a few dead bugs and live little roaches around the place. Might need to be fumigated or something.

Lovely beachy, no crowds, small village feel of the area.

Noise from aeroplanes, whilst not constant can be loud sometimes. Building has poor noise insulation and we were unfortunate that the visitors upstairs were noisy (crying baby, footsteps, lots TV, things dropping on tiled floor). We managed, as we were out most of the time 🙂

We found The York an excellent place for us to base for the two weeks we had around Cairns. Ed and Mai keep the property very tidy and the gardens are well kept. We enjoyed being based by the beach in a lovely quiet locality. There were two Coffee places within easy walking distance and both had great coffee.

We don't believe we could fault the property.

Great quiet apartment just a stroll to the beach and the Boat Club. Ed's recommendations on dining options were helpful. (It wasn't his fault the staff at the restaurant were totally useless!!)

The bed was a little small to quibble, and lugging the bags up the stairs was not ideal. That said, it was a great stay and Ed and his good lady were excellent hosts.

Excellent location with closeness to beach and a relaxing area. Away from a lot of traffic which is a bonus, restaurant within walking distance and yacht club nearby
