Liked the large size of this room. Bed was super comfy, as were the side chairs. It's an older place and shows it age on walls, doors and skirting but renovations to furniture and fittings give a modern feel. The position is excellent if you want regular access to the train station. The staff are lovely and helped us out when we needed a linen change half an hour after arriving due to a leaking water bottle. The shower, while not powerful, was fine but it is over a bath, so be aware of that. Highly recommend Paul's burger place across the street if you need some takeaway food.
Everything was good but if I had to be picky I would say that the toilet was a bit too close to the wall for my liking and toilet paper hard to reach behind. The hairdryer was a bit old.

First of all, all of the staff was super friendly and helpful from start to finish. I think that is not a coincidence. There wasn’t anything they weren’t prepared to take care of or have a solution at hand and I thought we had some tricky curve balls coming out of our hats. Problems solved 10/10. Rooms were nice and clean and the simple breakfast was well worth it.
Parking in the city is definitely a bit of a problem and their own garage right beside the hotel is tiny, so it is really recommended to book it in advance, if you come with a car. Luckily we got a spot there even though we didn’t.

Location : a mere 350 meters from the Ghent St Peters station. Do watch out for dog poo on the street. Hotel : Small reception area but cosy enough. Hotel front desk was very helpful in providing information on food and direction to city center. Elevator a bit small but pretty typical in european city center. We had 4 rooms and occupied the entired level - we could have open all our doors and made it felt like our private huge apartment which was fun. Room is spcious, clean and well setup; good lighting with free bottled water and coffee machine in the room, we especially like the chairs which we could sit and chat while sipping drinks. Wonderful ...
Breakfast spread a bit too few options for the price, so we decided to eat elsewhere.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good value with a wide choice. Parking was convenient and secure. TripAdvisor gave the impression that the hotel was closer to the centre.
Bathroom needs improvement. Bath is dangerous if used as a shower as no bath mat. Water pressure is poor. I put cold on the basin and my wife was nearly scalded in the shower. Litter - cardboard out for collection on all 3 days of our visit - not at the hotel but all other premises down the street. It doesn't leave a good first or last impression.

A beautiful boutique hotel and the wonderful surprise of finding a place that didn’t sacrifice the space to get more rooms. Our room was big and beautifully decorated. The bed was comfortable, we had extra pillows, and free water. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was very quiet; we didn’t hear neighbors or the outside world, and the building is on a quiet street anyway. We truly loved it.
It’s not in the center, but you have a tram nearby that will take you there if you need it, or you can take a bit of a longer walk.

Booked near the train station for convenience. Didn't expect much. We got a great room with quiet, effective AC, a good shower, lots of convenient electrical outlets all for a really good price. Staff was great and helpful in many ways.. We came in early but they got us in so we could drop our bags and tour Ghent unencumbered. Always a gamble booking near the train station as many hotels near train stations are rough joints in gritty neighbourhoods. This was not the case with the Carleton. This gamble paid off handsomely.

1. Staff- kind & nice 💗💗💗 2. Location- very near the main station, restos, boulangerie, mini grocery stores Almost 2 km away from Ghent city center but I don't mind walking. Ghent was a good base going to Antwerp & Brugge. 3. Room- wow! It's big & clean & has toiletries 😁😁😁 4. Thermostat- it's working I highly recommend this hotel 🙌🙌🙌. I always value kind people/staff. Good behavior towards clients despite ethnicity/racial background compensates or overshadows whatever is lacking in the hotel.
1. Bath tub & the tiles around it. I'm not a fan of dark colored tiles. 2. Elevator

The location - very near the train station and easy to find, 20-minute walk from the attractions from there. The room was spacious, very comfortable and clean with a beautiful bathroom and nice finishing touches. Comfortable beds, fridge and tea/coffee making facilities made for a relaxing stay. We were also allowed to keep our luggage at the hotel after checking out for free which was great!
Staff were were very friendly and polite but when we reported the hairdryer not working no offer was made to help me dry my hair and we had to wait in the lobby until it more or less dried so as not to go out with wet hair in December. A member of staff suggested I hadn’t pressed a button along with moving a selector on the hairdryer (I had) and promised to check it. That’s it.

Where do I start? Simply the absolute best hotel in all of Europe, at least where I have stayed and I have been in many. I was here in 2018 with family and we loved it. I took my wife this time and she loved it too! The Cartlon Hotel sets the gold standard of how hotels should be run. Boutique hotels like this are a rare breed. Run by a family they know there business and nothing had changed since my visit in 2018. I would come back to Gent, Belgium just to stay at this hotel.
Nothing.

The room was large and comfortable and we slept well on the beds. Also the staff were so welcoming and kind right from the beginning. We arrived well before checkin hoping to just store our luggage but no the room was ready and they let us in. Also breakfast was fabulous: lots of great breads and pastries, big variety of fruit and you could order freshly cooked items!
We liked everything
