Rooms at the front of the house are large and have spacious bathrooms, definitely worth the upgrade in price. Beds are super comfy, lovely bath sheets for towels. Stylish place - minimalist but welcoming. Don't expect a chest of drawers or much furniture other than the bed and nightstands. Good continental breakfast bar with bread from top notch local bakery.

Rooms in the newer addition at the rear of the house were too spartan for us, but we liked the front rooms.

This is one of the most beautiful properties we have ever stayed in. The renovation is stunning with wide plank wood floors, beautifully-tiled bathrooms with separate tub and shower, original molding and banisters and lovely paint colors. The common areas had comfortable seating, games, books, and a record player with a great selection of records. Even the books seemed to be chosen with care to reflect local sites (e.g., Oak Island). We stayed here the night before we went to Burntcoat State Park for the Dining on the Ocean Floor event. We wish we had booked more nights at this lovely property.

We loved everything.

Beautiful building throughout and a spotlessly clean room. Very comfortable bed, great shower, everything you might need is supplied, including some welcome cookies.

The breakfast was fine but it suits those with a sweet tooth, with scones and cinnamon cakes. No bread was put out but was supplied when we asked for it. Even a cheese spread would have been welcome as a savoury alternative.

The August House has been beautifully renovated, with lots of lovely homely touches. Beds were comfortable and facilities were good - we particularly enjoyed using the firepit to toast the complimentary marshmallows! It's well located with easy access to main roads elsewhere in the region. Owners were very friendly and helpful.

Our experience began with lovely front garden entry. Door entry code etc. was well described. Interior decoration was superb. Room was large, clean & well equipped. Breakfast was pleasant surprise - healthy & very original. Staff was very friendly & welcoming. We highly recommend "The August House".

Recently remodeled and looks great overall

Our bed was on a platform built over 2/3 of the room. Hard to stand up from sitting on the side of the bed and the platform had a lip that was easy to trip over. This needs to be reworked. Also no place for a suitcase and no TV. Did not respond to emails with inquiries before arrival and did not see anyone at the property.

This property is rustic on the outside, but extremely modern in the rooms. The bed was incredibly comfortable. Probably the best bed I’ve slept on in the last two weeks during my trip. The staff was awesome and everything was top-notch. Great attention to detail. 

The August House was exquisite…beautiful and comfortable in the common areas and the room with so many thoughtful touches. Breakfast was delicious and wonderfully presented with fresh breads, fruit, yogurt and cheeses. It was truly a wonderful experience.

We wanted a nice property out of Halifax with access to Annapolis Valley and good jumping off point for drive to Cape Breton. Windsor was a good location and August House was superb. Great rooms and staff. Opened last October after 1-1/2 yr restoration. Fine attention to details and conveniences.

This is how - on our view - a modern bed and breakfast should be! The hosts were fantastic and we were able to make new friends who wre also guests there.

Nothing negative with respect to what we experienced. Of course, Windsor is a rather "quiet" spot, one should keep that in mind.
