It's not a hotel. Its much more. A twist of Royalty. Cozy. Romantic. Warm. Modern too. Quality stuff. Apt for any Special occasion. Everything you can think of is in the room which you will not find in a 5 or 7 star. Never been to a bathing/Shower room where the control knob is opposite to the overhead or handheld shower. Awesome 👌 the details of every wall/ceiling in the Chateau must be viewed. Congrats to the creative designer, too. Spent 2 awesome nights. From a wonderful Sean, Concierge you feel like more than a guest. Walking distance to main street restaurants.

Lovely restored mansion, eclectic decor, comfortable bed, nice amenities and decorative touches in the guest room, outstanding breakfast

The room was quite cramped, and while there was a very large balcony, there were two uncomfortable metal chairs on it, namely, not very welcoming and not shaded. There was really no hotel lobby. There are a couple of living rooms on the ground floor that look more like museum rooms than places to welcome guests in a common space. The reception is at the back door and the front door seems locked and is not used, so these living rooms which are closer to the front door remain unused. It just seemed odd for such a beautiful mansion, not to have more welcoming common spaces to enjoy.

Location! clean and efforts to make my sejour great. Excellent ambiance at the restaurant. The staff was kind and diligent, particularly Sean. Thanks for the tea at night, Sean! The surroundings of mature trees are lovely.

The original room on booking.com had two beds. The decoration is a bit pretentious, with a corner in the bedroom that felt under construction (a broken frame with a black fabric), which is a strange feeling. The food was OK, but there were too many flavours mixed. Sometimes, less is more. I enjoyed my dinner even though I had expected better for the price. However, they make a great effort to do well.

Lovely quirky character home in downtown Picton. Quiet inside and out. Easy walking to restaurants and shops. Merrill House restaurant was amazing. Delicious chocolate chip cookies available on the main floor!! Staff were very friendly and accommodating.

I had to ask for an iron and ice. A tiny fridge in the room would have been really nice.

As we had only the fresh croissants and coffee, we cannot rate the breakfast. But judging from the quality of the dinners it must be excellent. Sean Bruno went above and beyond the call of duty to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Our grateful thanks to him!

A safe deposit box in the bedroom would have been appreciated. Sean kept our valuables in his office, but for convenience it would have been helpful if there was a safe in the room.

The concierge Shawn was exceptionally friendly and attentive. The house is decked out beautifully for the holidays, and we appreciated all of the touches in the room such as the welcome snacks and beverages. The included breakfast is light (croissants and juice), but based on the off season pricing we were more than happy to check out the local restaurants for something more substantial.

Location in Picton and the House itself are amazing - so much local history and decor was impressive. Book shelves and historical items were so interesting. Really liked the small "gift" shop with eclectic items and the cookies at bedtime were a nice touch. Great room. Fantastic bathroom and shower head was superb! Wish we could have spent more time there.

There is almost no negatives to our stay but if you had to press me I would say: The aircon was on full blast in the sitting rooms making them a bit uncomfortable to sit in. We turned it down a few times but it was always reset. A few more seating areas outside would have been good; the three there were good but only one was comfy (one was stone seats and the other high chairs against barrels). Again these were minor compared to the overall great experience we had.

Merrill House is a boutique hotel, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you want to stay. I felt like was staying at someone’s home! The staff are exceptional. Friendly, funny and charming. We are definitely returning for longer this time. Our room was clean, the assortment of robes was a bonus. The bed quite comfortable. We also had dinner at Merrill House and it was impeccable. They were great accommodating my dietary restrictions.

We paid $45 for early check in and did our check-in online to speed up the process as we had limited time to get ready and quickly leave for a wedding. When we arrived, the woman at reception was on the phone in the back room (about napkins?) and did not acknowledge us for a good 10 minutes or so despite the door being open. Once she finally got off the phone, it still took another 10 or so minutes to finally get the keys. While Merrill House is a lovely place, the cost seemed exceptionally high for Picton.

We are all over 60 and cannot eat massive breakfasts. It would have been more likely that we would have had breakfast with you if there had been a smaller, healthy option. As it was we went to the Bean counter. The drinks on the patio was a lovely touch and your staff couldn't have been more accomodating.

The concierge was kind and took our bags up the stairs. My husband has a back condition and one knee that will have to be replaced. We were on the 3rd floor. All is well that ends well, but I probably should have mentioned it.
