Very small hotel (9 rooms) in central location in Cerro Alegre, friendly staff, beautiful terrace with ocean view to sit and relax for breakfast or in the afternoon. Self serve Honor Bar with reasonable prices. Simple but ample breakfast buffet with eggs cooked to order. Our spacious room #4 had a high ceiling and huge windows overlooking the port and city. Lovely breezes with the window open (alas, had to keep windows closed at night due to bugs). Super soft sheets and comfortable bed. My only issue is no washcloths provided, although that may be the custom in Chile as our hotel in Santiago also does not provide them. If I’d know in advance (as I did when traveling to Spain - thank you Rick Steves) I would have brought shower poufs from home!
Not well marked (signage is very low key) so hard to find at first. Very basic in room amenities - soap, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. No in room coffee (but coffee available at Honor Bar for a small fee).

Perfect location, for restaurants, visiting the street art, wondering the quirky, interesting alleyways of Valpairiso. We travelled with a (hire) car and parked in the street safely outside the hotel, although they do have a small parking garage which you could book and pay for if required. The view from the hotel was perfect. The tiered immaculate gardens were inspirational. The staff were helpful and available when needed. On our first night we were so exhausted by a long trip from the wine valleys that we ate a takeaway in the gardens of the hotel and the staff were very accommodating with cutlery. We slept soundly in very comfortable sheets and beds, with a perfect view to wake up in the morning. This is a converted grand townhouse, the Dutch ambassador’s house, so with high ceilings and big windows in our room.

The view of the harbour from the breakfast room and the terraced garden is stunning. The gardens are beautifully tended, with comfy seats and eating area offering sun and shade. The hotel is situated on a quiet street in a very nice, and central area, and the colonial style of the building and its furnishing and decoration are beautiful. Such a comfy bed, and a lovely spacious bathroom. Good selection for breakfast. Everything spotlessly clean. Rosa and her team are the best! So welcoming, friendly and helpful. They arranged transfers for us, gave us great advice on places to visit, and spent a lot of time arranging car hire for us on a last minute request. They really could not have done more to make our stay in Valparaiso so memorable.
Nothing! However, some guests may need to be aware that there is no elevator, as this is a historic building, but help is on hand for your luggage. Guests with mobility issues may also find the breakfast room and garden difficult to access due to a number of different levels.

Great service and Rosa, the concierge was extremely helpful. It makes you realize how much we tolerate bad service in the US now. They only have a couple parking spaces so if you are driving, you must make a parking reservation and also, the G Maps directions aren't accurate. Wonderful terraces.
The coffee at breakfast was strangely bad, it almost tasted scalded and there were some dried out baby carrots which was odd. But the cooked to order eggs and fresh juices made up for it.

Located on a quiet street in Cerro Allegre Hotel Zero provides a respite from the busy Valpariso scene. Our room was spacious and airy with a fabulous bay window view over the city and the harbor. The modern bathroom met all our expectations. The breakfast room and terraces on the lower level provided beautiful views over the city. Breakfast offerings were plentiful and quite good. Staff was pleasant and attentive.
A few of the furnishings in our room were a bit warn (upholstry). Could have used a proper writing desk. The desk in our room had a big screen TV on it which we never used.

The location is great. Walkable from most attractions. Ok restaurants nearby. Staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. Nice gardens.
We were shocked on arrival to see our room. Large dirty marks on the carpet made us think, maybe it was a crime scene. We got used to it but our first thought was to ask for a change of room.

This is a beautiful classical old building, lovingly restored in a perfect location. It has the most exquisite gardens & terraces tumbling down the hillside with terraces to enjoy the fabulous view. The room was large with exceptionally high ceilings, a very smart bathroom and a perfect bay window with magnificent views across the magical Valparaiso bay. Some of the staff were exceptionally kind and helpful - even going to the lengths of collecting our luggage from our former hotel - very much appreciated. Thank you
Free tea and coffee would have been appreciated - it seemed rather mean to charge for a tea bag! The winter room has a fabulous view but is lacking atmosphere and has a repetetive sound track playing constantly.

The room was spacious with huge windows and amazing views. The staff was mostly really friendly and helpful. It is a very peaceful, spa-like environment, I found it extremely relaxing, and I liked knowing that I was staying at a place that cared about its environmental impact. The location is great- lots of nice bars and restaurants nearby.
This is personal and not to do with the quality of the hotel, but I would have preferred to stay in a slightly larger hotel with a few more amenities. This place is more like a really nice B&B. For a hotel marketed as ‘five-star’, some things in the room felt a little worse for wear- the bathroom window had a visibly moldy, rotted-out frame, and the slate tiles had a layer of soap scum. I also missed some of those little touches like a robe in the room etc.

Staff was so incredibly helpful. Gardens were delicious, sweet location and view, breakfast was perfect. We would definitely stay here again just wish we had stayed longer.
I didn’t bring international chargers and we had to use our power bars to charge our electronics like hearing aides. So by the time we left we really needed chargers for everything which when your older is stressful. But it was my issue not the hotel’s.

We stayed in the Zero hotel for Christmas. The hotel is really nice based in an old calonial building with high ceilings, large windows, spacious rooms and it has lots of character. It is very clean and well presented/renovated. The terrace area is super with great views and plenty of seating and tables to relax and chill. The staff were excellent, very friendly and really helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We had an issue with our hire car and they helped us get it sorted locally. Parking is secure and off the road. Valparasio is an interesting place, for sure it was a major port in its time but the old town is challenged now and it is very hilly, up out of the lower port town it is colourful and vibrant, with cool bars and restaurants, Zero Hotel is well located to enjoy the nicer areas of the town. Would stay there again if in Valparasio and highly recommended.
