Location was gorgeous, wonderful to have the meals included, House was very friendly. We loved the pool and the viewing platform and all the personal touches. My only suggestion would be to clarify that the drive to the property was on some roads that were a little remote – – and there were moments where I wasn’t sure we were doing the right thing! And on a trip where there were several instances of not being able to check in someplace because the host wasn’t around or on site, I would have liked to know that This was a case where the host was on site! But we absolutely loved our stay and would definitely come back through next time we were in San Jose.

The property was close to the airport and we were able to walk to local restaurants (5-10min) and even to Rescate wildlife rescue (Zooave). The family room with the green beds was really spacious and had a full sized fridge. The owner was really lovely and helpful, she gave us a lift at one point and had many suggestions of things we could try. Breakfasts were delicious. The pool was very welcome. The gardens were lovely and teaming with birds. The children’s play area was more substantial than it appeared on photos and had monkey bars and hanging rings that were more than suitable for my older kids (& adults!) I had been slightly worried about the dogs being problematic but they were not an issue, very laidback and unobtrusive. We were also able to get an Uber eats delivery and eat it there in the evening

Nothing - there is no TV in the room which for me was a good thing! The soap dispenser in the bathroom was a bit broken, but useable - if I am to be very fussy!

We absolutely loved our stay at Villa Margarita and wished we could have stayed longer. The grounds and rooms are so pretty. Everything is clean and comfortable. There are a lot of different trees and flowers on the property and we saw so many birds, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Just strolling the grounds is so relaxing. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped. The bed super comfortable. There is a small open-air restaurant on the property and it's so cute. Skip the expensive hotels coming in and out of San Jose and give this place a try. You will not regret it.

Really lovely feel to the whole property. Nice pool area. Lovely room. Great big extra king bed and lots of space. Hot shower (although flow was a bit poor). And quiet neighbourhood with lots of birds and cicadas and iguanas. Hosts super accommodating with an early check in and helped us with various things and booked us an airport taxi to leave too.

We just felt that the price didn’t quite reflect the overall standard. But this is possibly all the extra charges applied by booking.com and wouldn’t have been as high a price if we’d have booked direct! Worth noting that a lovely German family with 5 kids (whom our kids enjoyed playing with) were hosting while the owner was on holiday. So our experience may have been better, worse, same or just different had the host herself been there.

Villa Margarita is a charming hotel with beautiful gardens and very friendly staff. They prepare a fantastic, fresh breakfast every morning. The rooms are spacious, and the beds are extremely comfortable. Margarita herself is very warm, welcoming, and has an excellent sense of humor. We have actually staid at her hotel two years in a row and would easily come back again the next time we visit Costa Rica. We especially love Margarita's many friendly and adorable rescue dogs!

So pretty and pleasant and easy, close to the airport but peaceful and quiet, and Margarita was super friendly, very down to earth, let us play with her many dogs, and cooked us a delicious breakfast in a really pleasant setting. I would go back for my first and last night of every Costa Rica trip - convenient to the airport, but you feel like you're on vacation right away.

Nothing! The location isn't as breathtakingly gorgeous as places further from the airport, but for a first and last night of a trip I think this is just unbeatable.

I love that the rooms are spacious and that there are also many nice places to sit outside and have a cup of coffee or do a little work (if necessary). The grounds are beautiful and the food is delicious. But beyond all of those things, Margaret is a fantastic host. She goes out of her way to accommodate guests and she is always pleasant. I brought group here in March and the experience was so good that I returned with another group on this trip. I'm confident that we will also stay here on future trips. It's a great place to stay when arriving at SJO or the night before departing.

This is extremely minor, but I'm not a fan of the towels. I just don't like the feel of the material. Definitely not a deal breaker.

Margarita developed a place where she herself would like to stay. It’s a very personal, sincere and beautiful place to be. The rooms are spacious and very original. Beds are great. You can sit outside if you like enjoying the beautiful garden. The breakfast is delicious and there are dinner options on site and great restaurants outside. Margarita is a fantastic original host with who, with her own style, genuinely cares and will do anything to make sure you are taken care off. We all, incl our children of 17&19,yrs enjoyed it very much and we will definitely return. Thanks!!

Margarita was above-and-beyond friendly and welcoming. After a long day of stressful travel, she helped us order food for delivery and quickly made us comfortable in this beautiful setting. The location is convenient to the airport, but still feels like a peaceful haven. Breakfast was made to order, plentiful, and delicious. The room was spacious and comfortable, and we enjoyed meeting other travelers. So much to enjoy about this place!

We would have liked to stay longer.

Margarita, the host, took personal attention to each of her guests needs. She not only prepared cooked to order crepes and eggs for breakfast, but also when guests were hungry for Dinner or Lunch as well. Margarita is a gem of a host and went above and beyond to accommodate our particular needs. Such a nice person. The room was plenty spacious. Even though it was deplete of AC, the timing of our stay the beginning of May, yielded a cooler evening. There are 6-8 rescue dogs that call the property their home and are free to roam. For the most part they are friendly but will greet strangers with barking and then calm down. Margarita brings the dogs in at night so as not to disturb the guests.

No AC, barking dogs. The inability to lock the screen door or screen window in our guest room. Although the property has security camera's throughout, the lack of AC requires that the screens be utilized for air circulation. For travelers to leave their screen doors unlock-able while they sleep is disconcerting. We utilized a couple of slats from under the bed to secure the screen door and window while we slept. I would recommend that the host cut a couple of these shorter so they can more easily drop in horizontally along the slider door floor and the window as well.
