This resort is in one of the best locations. The beach is amazing. The staff are wonderful and seem happy to help in any way. The free breakfast is a bonus and it is very good. The staff were very accomodating. The hotel offers beach food and drink ordering and are not outrageously expensive. Everything can be charged to your room. You can tip on each order or we chose to tip on our checkout, as the whole staff shares the tips.We stayed in 3 different rooms because of our unique circumstance (The were very accomodating for us). We stayed in the Queen Ocean View, the Villa suite with splash pool, and the Banana House. The queen ocean view was nice, but also right above the bar/restaurant. No A/C, but a good breeze with the 2 fans. Typical hotel room amenities. The Villa was big, 2 floors, and we loved the splash pool and outside dining area. Somehow mosquitos were getting in but after we closed the screens in addition to the glass sliders, it was fine. For some reason, they have an old big tub area filled with water and green plants. I don't think it is a good idea though because that draws mosquitos. The queen room was wide open and we did not have any issues with mosquitos. This room included a kitchen with eveything you need. The Banana House was our favorite but missing a few necessities like a coffee maker and hair dryer. It has 2 bedrooms, kitchen, livingroom, outside dining. We had a sloth in our back yard that climbed down to get out of the rain. The beach here is amazing.

Some amenities were missing is the room like coffee maker and hair dryer, but we requested them and brought them to us. Just ask and they will get it. Very difficult to get suggestions about things in the area. We were always referred to excursions desk. We rented a car so we didn’t need transportation to all the things they were selling. Obviously they want to make money on these and for some people that is what they want without the hassle of transportaion and such. We like to venture out on our own. we don't like the group trips.

We loved waking up and being steps away from the ocean. The staff are all very nice and go above and beyond. We stayed at the treehouse and it was a very nice place. Very spacious and perfect for two couples. The restraunt was very good and we enjoyed breakfast every morning. We loved the location being away from the main part of town, allowed us to have quiet nights, but also close enough we got to town in no time.

One thing about the property is the wifi can be spotty. We found in the treehouse that wifi only worked in one corner, and only worked in certain spots on hotel grounds.

Hotel grounds and proximity to the beach was amazing. We didn't take any tours but front desk staff was great giving us directions by car to local attractions Manzanillo park and Punta Uva Beach. We had a bungalow of sorts which was great.

Dinner was bad we only ate there first night, food was cold and not very tasty. Some of the waiters were a bit clueless. They had shrimp available from the bar in the afternoon but we asked for it at dinner and the answer was no. We wanted to eat at around 5:30 and the answer was no I ordered a beer on the beach which showed up warm. Breakfast was OK but I have had better/

The property has a beautifully designed garden with turtles in small ponds, a wooden walk way right to the beach front with a bar and enough umbrellas with an call a waiter thingy to get served. all this felt very luxurious as well as our room (ocean room 7) with a huge balcony, beautiful lighting, big lounge chairs and a hammock. the big fan above the bed and the mosquito net added to the atmosphere and comfort. the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive.

the food quality of the restaurant was from breakfast to everything else we ordered disappointing. for a hotel in this category the food selection and taste is not matching. We extended our stay and could only get the „red frog suite“. the suite is in no sense an improvement compared to the ocean room. the only advantage is more space and a own pool. the room itself feels less cozy and the „own garden“ with the sound and lighting from the street does not add to the atmosphere. it is very noisy especially in the morning. the hammock is in front of the suite and not inviting to chill there cause of being exposed to all other guests.

The hotel itself is beautiful - stunning gardens and plants, and the beach area is great with sun loungers and chairs to relax on. Our room was also very comfy, with a huge balcony that had a hammock, table + benches, and 2 chairs. Loved being able to spend time at the room and not have to be inside.

The service at the hotel wasn't great, it seems like they're quite understaffed. If you're having a meal or ordering a drink from the bar then you're going to wait a little while for either (~30 mins for 2 drinks), so be prepared for the wait. Our room also hadn't been cleaned thoroughly - there was forgotten food on the floor and the previous occupants clothes in the wardrobe.

Banana Azul is a tropical paradise. It has a rustic flair to it, with its wooden structure and beautiful carvings lit by thousands of white lights. The beach is a lovely soft black sand, hence its name, Playa Negra. Beach chairs are are situation some under palm tree umbrella tables. There is also a massage hut on the beach. The room was lovely, with its high ceiling and beautiful terrace, where you can sit and watch waves crash on the shore or while lying in the hammock. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

There really wasn't anything that I did not like.

Amazing special tropical frogs in the garden, nice happy hour Beautiful varanda, sleeping with open doors to the sea and nature. There were no mosquitoes and bugs. The food in the restaurant can be upgraded, they offer tours and a spa - but we did know about it before we left Great to be on the beach and sleep so near the sea. We were extremely sorry to leave

The food was not great. Not enough information about possible activities and tours When you arrive you need to sign many things you are not allowed to do. But overall a great place

Breakfast, beach service. room. We did not use the seemingly well stocked kitchen during our stay. The tour desk and market service was very helpful and appreciated!

Sunday evening menu was VERY limited. Since it was our last meal at the hotel it was a bit of a disappointment. A hot tub and more spa options would have been wonderful. There were a number of well behaved children at meals and at the beach which surprised us. The private pool with our room was somewhat of a joke and the chaise cushions needed replacement.

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel! We had the beach apartment and tree house rooms, which were both amazing. It’s very close to the beach. The restaurant is great - amazing food and drinks and excellent service. They went above and beyond (carried our luggage over to the beach apartment for us) and set up breakfast for us early in the morning because we had to leave at 4. I would highly recommend staying here!

The tree house didn’t have air conditioning but it didn’t bother us!

Such a great property, a little piece of paradise on a black sand beach. The staff were very friendly and helpful, food was good for dinner and breakfast also. The property is 100 m from the beach and it is perfect to enjoy the warm Caribbean sea. There is also a lot of wildlife to enjoy, all sorts of birds, squirrels and sloths. We had the small Kinkajou cabana and it was sufficient for 2 people. We would definitely like to go back and stay longer.

We did not love the brown bathroom towels, the room was also a bit dark. Nothing major.
