The place is centuries old. Very quiet and dark at night. Not to far from main N10 route. Slept with the enormous windows open.which made a change from our normal overnight stop in a plastic hotel. Owners were very welcoming and showed us around and gave us the history. It's a bit in a time warp and has been used for several film locations. We ate a 5 course home cooked vegetarian meal with them that night in the old kitchen, finished with their own home bottled cognac. You can park your car under the old open barn and the walled farm yard is shut at night so nice and secure. Our bed was a bit firm. Simple but nice continental breakfast at huge old dining table

Bed and bedding could have been better

Setting and ckeanliy. Quirky old house. Knowledgeable and passionate about the house Cash only for evening meal or wine and we were 1€ short.

Not as advertised. it's a B&B not a hotel. Garden overgrown, house very tired. Not a restaurant, no choice of meal too much focus on vegetarian and organic. Worst thing was nothing like the facilities advertised. Many items missing in rooms but advertised on booking.com. Once we paid 1€ short notice one was interested. No one there to show us how breakfast worked.

The house itself is amazing, full of antiques and beautiful things. It was perfectly located for us on our bike trip. The older-generation woman gave the 4 cyclists staying there a meal for 15 Euro as there is nowhere else to eat nearby. This was a communal affair and very jolly, especially as she speaks good English for when my French failed. The younger-generation man was very welcoming and informative. It's a family house and there's a sense you are staying somewhere special. There were facilities for making tea and coffee. All in all the people are helpful and very friendly, it's in a lovely place, and very quiet.

Honestly, I must say the bed was not comfy and I was cold as I couldn't find an extra cover. The breakfast was less than good, lacking variety and quality. I didn't object to the composting toilet but not sure it was being used correctly (lined with a plastic bag?). You may need to put all your clothes on a hot wash as there is an air of damp. Obviously in a location as rural as this, you can't expect the wifi to be great.

Warm welcome in an old presbyterian house. Host and his mother prepared dinner for me and let me taste the cognac from their vineyards. The house is 250 years old and has authentique details. Wooden stairs, high ceilings etc. I like the character and the whole atmosphere!

The climb to get there ( by bike) 😁

The location is beautiful - vineyards and fields in rolling countryside. The hosts were very friendly and unbelievably helpful. Luc went far beyond expectations in helping us locate a tyre repair company when we found we had tyre damage. He stayed with us in our search and made sure we were going to be all right. We cannot thank him enough. The Gothic room is fabulous, although you need to be prepared for a dry toilet !

Nothing to do with the property, but it might be useful to know there are no local restaurants open on Sunday evenings and Mondays seem to be closing days as well. The owners will provide plates, glasses and cutlery for your own supplies.

Classic old French country home surrounded by vineyards. All the floors and walls were from another era. This was an unique historical experience. And there were two delightful cats to get to know.

If you are seeking modern amenities this is not the place for you. The charm of the original decorations completely outweighed any need for modernity.

This took my breath away. It's a lovely old house (moved stone by stone from the nearly village centuries ago), furnished accordingly, with an aristocratic feel. (The Charles bit is a reference to Charlemagne, to give you an idea of the pedigree!) Certainly not your average hotel. It's almost in the middle of nowhere, in beautiful surroundings. That also means you won't find nearby shops or restaurants (unless you have a car). When we asked about a meal our most obliging host said he would ask his mother to cook us dinner, which she did, also for the other two charming guests (we were all cyclists) staying there, and she entertained us all evening (partly in English) in her kitchen with amazing stories of the hilarious characters who had passed through. A unique experience.

Nothing, but there was no TV (and not needed in this step into the past and with the entertainment provided!)

this was a very special stay for me and my mum. it didn’t feel like a hotel, more like staying in a lovely, welcoming family house. we loved the shared cognac with all the family! the house itself is a jewel, full of history and with a warm soul, nestled in beautiful landscape. hope to come back one day for longer!

We loved the location surrounded by miles and miles of vineyards. The gothic room we stayed in came with beautiful carved furniture as well as an interesting story. Luca and his mother were extremely kind and welcoming and even provided a delicious vegetarian meal which we shared with them while hearing some fascinating stories about the history of the house and their family.

It was a privilege to be able to stay in such a beautiful, old ancestral home. Luca, our host, has done a wonderful job of retaining the character and history of this historic property and is rightly proud of his family's home.
