We loved our 4 nights with Duncan and Jane. The property is quaint and peaceful, and the hospitality was fantastic! We especially loved the wonderful tasting platter offered in the evening. The property is a drive (15-25 min) from most dining options, so it was very nice to have the option of being able to eat on property. We enjoyed the beautiful river views and the UTTER quiet offered away from the city. Seeing the hot air balloons rising into the air straright out over the river at the end of the day was a fun surprise! Would definitely return, even if just to visit with Duncan and Jane!
Can't think of a thing!

This place is a little piece of heaven. The location is perfect if you want to visit the villages of the Dordogne. Lascaux IV is 50 minutes away. The rooms are well appointed and the beds are comfortable. We stayed 8 nights and felt like we were home. Jane and Duncan are the best hosts you can wish to have. The breakfast is delicious with a variety of croissants, brioche, cheeses and eggs. The evening platters are a wonderful and yummy solution if you're too tired to go out. There is even a good little hiking trail right next to the house. It's doesn't get any better than this little Gem!! Don't hesitate!

Great in all respects . Location is superb and well worth the retreat . Breakfast is bespoke despite being continental and fully satisfying for any reasonable person . Duncan is a wizard with an egg. Duncan and Jane are very caring hosts and great people to boot. After 5 days wr move to Bordeaux which whilst interesting lacks the special feel of this Pearl in the hills and the Dordogne more widely with Domme, Sarlat and La Roque-Gigeac only 20 mins away. We will be back ( hopefully next June). You will notice the special touches which are too many to mention.
You cannot improve on relative perfection at this price-point with the added bonus of great hosts, lovely animals and an enchanting and fully relaxing setting

Beautiful house in exceptional setting high above the river Dordogne. Stunning views across the river valley. Room was huge and luxuriously appointed with a massive, very well equipped bathroom which included a large roll top bath. Very quiet and peaceful. Large garden overlooking the river to relax in. We saw hot air balloons in the evening at close range, which was pretty amazing. We booked at short notice and Duncan and Jayne the owners kindly organised a sharing platter and wine for us. This was delicious as was breakfast. Relaxing stay in a beautiful place - we will be back.
As a keen swimmer, the only thing I can say is that if it had a pool, this place would be perfect. But it’s absolutely lovely without one.

Wonderful selection of pastries, cheeses, fruits, yogurts and coffee/tea selection. Served in proper china cups and beautifully laid out. Jane always willing to cook up eggs or other breakfast goodies - and she's a great cook!!!! Duncan and Jane are fine, fine people with so much life experience to share. After four days with them, we felt like we had known them for years, and feel equally that we'd like to for years to come. STRONGLY recommend this place as an alternative to hotels and other, more frugal B&Bs. Make sure you swim in the Dordogne just below their place. You might think you'll get swept away in the current/rapids, but really just your cares and inhibitions will. Want to feel connected to someone else's little corner of paradise for a few days? Stay here. Nathalie and I miss you guys a lot!!
Honestly, there isn't any room for improvement here. Two great hosts, a great property and a vibe of "off the grid" that we found incredibly refreshing. Once in their generous and interesting company you just let go and spend a couple of evenings with great friends that you didn't know you had until you arrived.

We wanted a quaint place away from the city buz but close enough to Sarlat-la-Caneda. Perfect choice! Duncan was very pleasant. We stayed 2 nights in the Deluxe double room. Nice & roomy with King-size bed. We could see the Dordogne from one window. I'm sure a stay in the warmer season would be great so to enjoy the outdoor settings as well. It's nice to have breakfast there with the spacious dining room with huge window. Interesting to mingle with other guests. We recommend!

This was exactly the kind of place we were looking for--beautiful inside and out, peaceful, quiet--yet close to everything we wanted to see and do in the region. The food was abundant and excellent. Our hosts were relaxed and friendly, available and informative, and made us feel right at home. They went out of their way to accommodate some challenging food restrictions and did so with delicious results. The optional dinner was well worth it and the dining/kitchen area is gorgeous. We never heard the other guests except when we shared a table with them. The view to the river is magnificent and strolling to the tiny town and farm down the road was a highlight of our trip. We would go back in a heartbeat. You won't be disappointed.

Dear Jane and Duncan. Would love to give you a 10, as you are my favorite B&B. It's really unique. But there are 2 points for improvement, so we have to score lower than last year. I booked the suite, but the room felt smaller than last year, for the simple reason the sitting area has no key and no curtains. It does not invite you to use it at night, people can just be looking in. The second point is that you turned the most beautiful sitting area on your terrace into a private place for the studio... Other than that, i really love your place.
See above. The room called suite feels smaller than the other room I was in last year. But this B&B is simply unique. 👌

The location of le Relais de galets is unparalleled. It is perched on a cliff above the Dordogne river, deep silence only broken by the sound of birds and rushing water. Both spectacular and beautiful. Evenings and mornings spent reading in the garden overlooking the view were very restful and special. We loved our huge, comfortable bed and the bathroom was also large and elegant. The kitchen as hub of the house ( if you’re not in a suite) is a cosy farmhouse style place to eat exceptional dinners and fresh, generous breakfasts. Jane and Duncan could not have been more thoughtful and generous; the food was exceptional.
I’m not sure there was anything. If we came back I think we’d try to book a room with a sitting area but it wasn’t actually a problem as the weather meant we were able to sit comfortably outside.

Breakfast was delicious and a variety of foods to choose from. Jane and Duncan are able to include everyone in conversation at the table, despite different nationalities. They are also full of information on the history of the area and suggestions for things to see and do. It was so quiet and peaceful so sleeping was restful. We loved the visits from Tiny and Bob!
We were happy with every aspect of our stay.
