Beautiful location and staff were welcoming and friendly. They even took time to call me to check regarding accessible parking for my husband. Hotel is beautiful with so much character and history. Rooms are spacious and well designed although needing a little TLC in places.

Breakfast options were limited and an option for some hot food would have been welcomed. We arrived after 8pm with no option to get a coffee so it would have been useful to have at least a kettle in the room. We tried the attached restaurant but could not be seated for just coffee but luckily a lovely member of staff was able to get us a hot drink which was much appreciated.

This is an exceptional hotel - we stayed for a significant family birthday and they could not have made it more perfect. Beautiful rooms with period features, generous bathrooms, super-comfy beds. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and the staff were generous, kind and helpful. The hotel location is great, right beside the Abbey and within easy walking distance of all the village has to offer. We will be back.

Carpark at rear is a little hard to find - instructions could be clearer. But it's a small niggle really, in an otherwise excellent stay

The staff were great. Someone rang us the morning before we arrived to ask if we wanted to book dinner that night (which I would recommend). They also informed us that it was the final night this summer for the light show at the abbey and I'm glad we did not miss that. And they opened the pool area for us 15 minutes early so we could enjoy a swim before check out.

If you're cycling, be aware that it's a bit hilly between Montsoreau and Fontevraud!

Lovely hotel with friendly, helpful staff. We had a nice room with a terrace overlooking the courtyard. The hotel also has Canal Sport so we were able to watch Max Verstappen win his 10th consecutive Grand Prix, which was also a bonus, with a beer from room service! Food also very nice both evening meal and breakfast. The car park is not the easiest to find, but the lady on reception explained how to gain access. Would definitely stay here again.

Breakfast was a bit chaotic. I think the hotel was short-staffed. The coffee machine was not working and after a while coffees were made in the bar and brought in to the breakfast room. Croissants were in short supply. When we commented at reception as we were checking out, we were given a gift of sparkling wine as an apology which was a nice gesture.

We spent 2 nights at La Croix Blanche. It is in the centre of a charming and small village. There is ample parking at the rear of the hotel. As it is an old property there are no lifts to the bedrooms. We stayed in the family room - spacious and beautifully decorated. The breakfast was very good and we had an enjoyable dinner in the hotel with very good service.

Staff were so helpful and friendly, always smiling. Location was perfect, right in the centre of Fontevraud- quiet and culturally interesting place. Hotel restaurant was wonderful, with exceptionally delicious food and varied menu. Loved every minute. Would definitely recommend for a quiet yet very interesting stay with clean and comfy room. Can’t fault it.

Loved everything!

We only stayed two nights as were on our way back from the South West. We upgraded to a superior room which was very large with a very comfortable king size bed, a good duvet and bedlinen though we both found the pillows a bit uncomfortable. We had a large walk in shower and decent towels. We ate in the restaurant on the first night. Unfortunately two of the items on the 'menu' were unavailable but we were offered any alternative from the a la carte menu. Similarly the wine we chose was also unavailable but we found a good alternative. Breakfasts were excellent though the queue for the coffee machine was irritating (often the case in other hotels). All in all, a comfortable stay.

Pillows; queuing for the coffee machine; we didn't expect the pool to be very big but was smaller than expected. It really is just a plunge pool.

hotel restaurant was excellent and staff were very friendly and helpful, I also appreciated the secure parking for my motorcycle however it probably would have been safe out in the street such was the vibe of the town

Right in the centre of town but with easy parking and a very good restaurant. Lovely people who worked there were very helpful.

Not a criticism, but would have been happy to have had a kettle in the room - just me wanting coffee very early!
