Very nice hotel, great decor and friendly staff. Staff were always willing to help. Breakfast buffet was very good (although no baked beans). Amazing cookies and cakes. Location is great, ski in ski out, and lockers available for ski equipment. Rooms are great and comfortable.

Generally some things were not that consistent. Breakfast, some days had yoghurt in a large bowl, some days it didn’t. Some days they had grilled tomatoes (very nice) some days they didn’t. Room cleaning/turn down, some days you got extra bottles and full turn down some days you didn’t. We didn’t get a chance to go in the outdoors hot tub as it was busy most of the time. The outside sauna was good but was not that warm (about 70°c). Pool was warm-ish. Biggest disappointment was that the indoor spa, steam room and jacuzzi, was a paid addition, at €25 each for an hour (not made clear until after booking). This is steep given the cost of the hotel. You should get at least one complimentary visit during your stay. For a 5 star I’d expect access to be included.

Comfort, very nice staff, clean, very good breakfast , nice views from the room, short way to the ski lifts.

Only 1 baby high chair for all hotel, so I was waiting another family to finish the breakfast to then have a sit, this is so uncomfortable , also I requested a kettle just to heat my baby’s bottle and they said to go down to the reception and to ask the kitchen to heat what is so bad because I have a 8 months baby that needs at least 3 bottles during the night, so has no point to do to the reception during the night to do that, we payed a lot of money each night, so I think the minimum was to have a kettle in the room. I know that is a high level hotel but the prices are excessively high! 30€ per day for parking.. 24€ a glass of wine.. only outdoor pool is included on the price, for indoor pool needs to pay.. what it’s not nice as well.

We had a great stay for one night with a group of cyclists trekking over the Alps. The location, view, facilities of the hotel are outstanding.

Diner was a problem. During this time of the year (Early June) the number of open restaurants in Alpe d’Huez is very limited. The hotel wasn’t prepared to serve us a diner at a reasonable price, and seemed to take advantage of the situation. We believe the chef may have been in a bad mood that day. Luckily the morning staff could serve us a truly excellent and complete breakfast.

The hotel is in a perfect spot, easy to ski in and out of. The valet service was really useful too and took care of taking our skis and boots directly to the lockers in the ski shop. The room was comfortable and tidy. It’s beautifully decorated throughout and the bar was a perfect place to relax after a long drive. The staff are really friendly and helpful.

Breakfast seemed a bit chaotic and crowded. The buffet area is quite small and there wasn’t much room to move around. We got there at 9 and there was hardly any bread or fruit left. No one took coffee orders unless you waved them down.

The hotel location is great in the sense that the building is placed at 10 m from the panier, the cable system that will deliver lazy people from the city to the slopes main cable systems. You can return directly from to the hotel with your skis on, pending on the availability of snow. A ski shop integrated in the hotel's building will keep your equipment, free of charge, during the night. So you go in the morning with your sleepers to the ski shop, get your ski boots and skis, go the panier system, go to the slopes, come back at the end of the day on your skis directly to the shop, leave your equipment, take the sleepers and go to your room. You cannot have it more convenient than that.

The hotel has two parts, the older one and the more modern one, an addition to the initial building. There is a difference between them, in favor of the newer one. In the main/old area, everything is a little dated. As in many hotels, the beds are not firm enough for people having back issues, but this is mostly an issue of taste. The rooms' door are not thick enough to retain the joy of mostly English guests that are better at drinking than at skiing. Being a 5 star hotel seems to entitle some of the guests to behave as they own the world.

Facilities, location, parking, very helpful staff especially in ski shop, coped well with late evening arrival, classy entertainment in bar, free shuttle bus to restaurants, cage lift directly across road, ski shop in basement, ski-in to ski shop storage when weather permits which it did when I stayed. The best place I’ve stayed in over many years going to Alpe d’Huez.

Quite expensive but worth it, slightly grubby sauna cabin floor, which I mentioned and staff apologised,

Everything was beautiful. There was a lovely gift of sweets for our anniversary which was greatly appreciated. The room was perfect with a lovely view. Thank you.

It was very quiet in the town when we arrived and we parked in front for a moment to check in. Our lovely host said that we could leave our car where it was because it was very quiet in the town and parking was available everywhere. Unfortunately, after we left we got a parking ticket in the amount of $44.00 added to our car rental agreement because we got a ticket for parking.

Our room was large with good wardrobe space and very comfortable beds. The choice of food available for breakfast was excellent. Good live music in the bar in the evening at a volume where you could still have a conversation with those around you.

I would have preferred to have a walk-in shower rather than a shower over the bath. The breakfasts, though very good, were extremely expensive if all you really wanted was a bowl of cereal and some fruit or a croissant and a cup of coffee. However, if you wanted to eat enough to last you through until your evening meal, that would have been possible!

An incredible welcome from the staff and everyone we encountered at Grandes Rousses for our brief stay in Alpes D'Huez. The room (mezzanine suite) was impeccable and one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in. Balcony with a view over the town was an added treat. We didn't use the facilities in the hotel as we skied the majority of the time. But all the pools, sauna, spa facilities looked very impressive. Definitely one of my favourite places. Thank you

I was disappointed that there was an extra charge for a hot breakfast. The cold buffet was exquisite (don't get me wrong - we truly had nothing to complain about) but I would have liked a hot option too
