This was our 3rd visit to Vellankani and each time , we used different hotels to stay. By far, Gnana Vedha has been better than all others. Clean rooms and very clean toilets are what I have to firstly mention because this is a rarity in vellankani. Check in process was smooth and so was the check out process. The breakfast which was provided had almost all the varieties we could think off! Soft idli, crisp vada, poori, dosa, Pongal and even bread toast. The staff were friendly too. We didn't try lunch and dinner as we chose the next door sarvana bavan. Room service were quick to respond and deliver the requests. Rooms weren't sea view but nobody spends time in room at vellankani. Hardly 100meters away from the church is the best part of the hotel. If you take train to velankani you could even walk from the railway station. (Only If it's not hot and if your health is in good shape). It's 1.5km away from railway station. And around 150mts from the beach. Peaceful and happy stay..

The location. Very close to the main church. The staff were excellent and communication, right from the start of booking until check out was excellent. Lovely staff who even organised a cake and sang for my husband for his birthday. Lovely people 🙂👌

There is a very confusing system of getting hot water for our showers. We did not have hot water for the 1st 2 days of our stay, and we were not aware that we had to inform housekeeping to put on a switch. But it was quickly sorted out once we complained about it. The toilet and bathroom are together, and the whole toilet gets wet when you have a shower. It's not ideal. They should have shower curtains to avoid the toilet seats getting wet.

Every staff was good and very clean hotel.

I ask about the taxi invova Trz Airport to hotel and after 2 days hotel yo Trz Airport they told me tht driver is takkng 7000 rupees yo pick up and then again 7000 rupees to drop to Airport totall its come go 14000 they told me pay all in 7000 in advance which i dint like. so i booked a taxido from google, which cost me around 4000 rupees to pick up and 4000 rupees to drop....so in 8000 rupees i made my journey drop and pic up.... My point is, please dont fool people like this asking them to pay 7000 rupees for taxi which doesn't cost tht much money

Location Location Location! What a great location. As we were in Velankanni for a pilgrimage, being just 2mins away from the main shrine was a fantastic bonus. Also the suite room we were given was really big. Very comfortable for our small family of 5. Food at the restaurant was decent too. Will definitely consider staying here again next time we visit.

The rooms were dated and worn out but clean. Rolling blackouts too.

The hotel was very close to the church All shopping and restaurants are close by Hotel is very close to the beach as well

Rooms were basic, and they did not meet the standards for the price we paid. Would've liked a room that faced the beach instead of buildings and main roads Buffet Breakfast had no variety Rooms had central air conditioning Room windows faced adjacent hotel windows

The staff was very cooperative and helpful with all our needs. The rooms are really spacious and clean with good comfortable beds. The washrooms are good with 24/7 cold and hot running water. The food was top notch and delicious. They have a separate restaurant attached to the property where you can eat separately or you also have the option for room service depending on your preference overall really loved the Stay with my family.

The highlight of the hotel and of our stay were the outstanding service and attention we were accorded by the staff at Sri Gnana Vedha Beach Residency. One would never have imagined that a small fishing village as Velankanni is, beaides being the home of Mary, Mother of Velankanni, would showcase to the world what true hospitality is like and where one finds the true meaning of " Athithi Devo Bhava" which translates to "The Guest is our God" This Boutique Hotel is set just 50 metres from the Main Shrine of "Mother of Velankanni" from where we can easily walk and cover 4 Other Churches including the Lower & Upper Basilicas, The Morning Star Church, The NaduThitta Church.and also Mother Mary's Eternal Water Well. The Sri Gnana Vedha Guest Relations Team, led by the ever smiling & ever so courteous, Satyasheelan and ably assisted by David, Mona & other colleagues ensured that our stay at the Hotel was heavenly, with excellent Housekeeping by Sharath, who was more than simply Housekeeping.......taking care of our special needs too as we were a group of elderly guests. Our visit and Guest experience cannot be complete without a special mention of our Nutritionalist & Food Guide at the Restaurant, Sachin.......wirh the ready smile that lights up his face and makes him the early morning Sunshine that greets us every morning. Their breakfast was a sumptuous spread, changed daily, and also catering to special cuisine needs. Lunch was also an outstanding spread of local cuisine.. Special.mention must be made of the Freshness of the Fish and Seafood that was of the local daily catch of the Sea nearby. The rooms facing the Seaside, are the best in this property, reasonably spacious and well laid out toneasily accomodate a couple on double occupancy. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the room and the hygiene levels maintained within the Hotel and in the Rooms too.

The Restaurant should also provide Dinner as this is a handicap for guests who otherwise have to order food from outside places where the hygiene and one's health can be compromised.

The location would be best as its walkable to Church and Beach.

Pricy when compared to similar property in the same vicinity. There are much better property with better price. The breakfast menu was just normal and taste wise was not upto the mark. The quantity was very less , it used to get over within minutes of refilling. Had to wait for long time and still finally items didnt arrive.

The room was good size, lots of natural light and air. The location of the hotel near church, shopping and beach was fantastic.

There was no breakfast included in the room booking, and there were no laundry service. Also in the bathroom, the toilet and shower were not separated. This was inconvenient wen there were more than one or two people using the room. Also I was wanting two single beds but that option was not provided. I have an adult son and it was not convenient to sleep on the same bed.

Clean, room, inviting and friendly staff and the beautiful marble Mother of vellankanni statue in the reception. We felt very welcomed and comfortable by the staff

Communication problems. Room service Staff very friendly ready to help but do not speak English. Found it difficult to get hot water for bathing or washing on the day of arrival. Food problems, we just could not eat spicy food for breakfast, lunch and dinner and could not get any fruits to buy as supplements. Not hotels fault as most travellers are from India and enjoy spicy food. The road to the front of the hotel could be cleaner.
