Everything was really great. The staff were attentive, kind and helpful. The layout of the hotel is wonderful. The surroundings are picturesque and peaceful. It was quiet, private and absolutely beautiful. Waking up to the rice fields and the rich history was a delightful start to the day. The room we had was amazing, with an outdoor bathroom and an indoor toilet, a large room with an amazing intricate wooden roof. Tile floors and a day bed, with an outdoor area, there was definitely a comfortable amount of space for my children and I.

There wasn't much that I didn't like. The menu at the restaurant is limited but good, it's the only place close by to eat unless you go into town, which is an okay walk if you take an umbrella on a hot day, or walk when it's overcast. Be careful along the main road, but otherwise it's a lovely walk along the rice fields up until the main road. Theres no grab in the area yet so keep that in mind, yet Donny the manager, helped me to the local Clandys when I needed to get a charger port.

Simply exceptional! It’s a very pity that the photos can’t show the actual atmosphere… We were incredibly surprised about the place. Amazing pool surrounded by an amazing garden. A lot of employees and all incredibly kind. Room and restaurant were fantastic!

We liked everything!

We were super fortunate to have the whole of the lower grounds to ourselves. The pool was refreshing, the views stunning, with beautiful ceremonial grounds at the end of the path. The sounds of frogs and other wildlife was a bonus at night time. And the staff always smiley and friendly, and willing to help! We would definitely return to stay here. The location is in a traditional Balinese village, and away from the crowds that are overtaking the peace in the south.

We were disappointed with the lack of vegetarian options at the restaurant. And we were charged the same price for meals without the meat and egg which was disappointing. However the staff did try their best to make meals satisfying for us, and for that we are grateful. I was also sad to see cows tied up all day every day at the top of our bungalow grounds, even though I know this is life for them in Bali.. It still upset me to see it.

The special thing about Puri Taman Sari is how closely it is part of village life: Dinner at the nearby Mengwi Night markets with the locals; cycling through hidden rice fields and villages with a local, Wayan, who, when my husband came off his bike into a water channel alongside a rice field whilst taking a selfie, treated his cut traditionally with banana tree bark; being invited to Wayan’s family compound, home to 9 relatives’ families; Hearing the village gamelan orchestra practising on evening and when we went to watch, being invited to join in….These sorts of experiences are not common on holiday in Bali…. On top of all this, the hotel is lovely- really tranquil with beautiful traditional buildings. Staff friendly and helpful, manager Donny happy and able to arrange anything.

The day beds on the veranda in front of our room were not comfy to sit on; the back was too low. Also some of the rooms are not in the main compound and it meant that some evenings we would have a crowd from a tour owalking past our room to one of the exits although there is another entrance next to the main office which they could be directed to. Small complaints as this is a wonderful spot

We enjoyed the experience of being in a traditional Balinese village and the resort was very quiet. A special thanks to Donny and Ayu for their hospitality. We arranged a massage at the resort which was lovely and you can walk around the surrounding village and rice fields easily. Given the facilities the resort is very well priced. We had the large pool in the picture to ourselves most days.

This is not a complaint as we enjoyed our deliberate stay away from the hustle, just be aware that this is not a place to come for nightlife, shopping or bars. There is one restaurant on site with a small selection of meals. For variety you could also head to the restaurant at the other nearby hotel, or you will need transport.

What a wonderful first few days in Bali at the Taman Puri Sari. Beautiful spot to rest and relax, very quiet, isolated, away from the noise and bustle of other spots in Bali. We had one of the suites down the river, to sit on our patio looking out over a tropical paradise was a joy followed by a cool swim in the pool. Lovely massage in the glass house, a walk in the paddy fields, good food, it was a lovely place to spend a few days. Staff are very friendly. If you want somewhere to relax, then this is the place to go. They do activities but we just spent our days reading, swimming and taking it easy. We will be back.

Not major things, just suggestions to make it even better. Would have been good if our room had a small fridge to keep drinks cool. And being in the middle of nowhere, it would be good if they had some snacks to buy, so during the day you could grab a bag of crisps or something like that. Next time we go, we'll stock up on snacks before we get there. These are not things we didn't like just suggestions to be helpful.

Absolutely amazing place that leaves an impression on you right away. I was here in early February (off the tourist season) and I must say that this place is perfect for calming down, ideal for practicing yoga, and generally just for relaxation. It's 100% something different than Canggu, Ubud, and other tourist centers (although I like those too :D:D:D). I think if someone wants to experience what Bali was like before (based on what locals say :D:D:D) - I definitely recommend going here. After all, I even rode a bike here, which is becoming increasingly rare in Bali! :D:D:D

The beautiful garden and the big pool right in front of the villa. Could even swim there at night. Staff was very friendly. It's a peaceful place in the middle of the rice fields and has the atmosphere of a Balinese temple. Big terrace and Balinese pavilion overlooking the garden and rice fields.

Bit of a moldy smell in the villa which probably comes from thatched roof. It gets better when venting the room. Some dirt in the room and on the terrace which didn't get cleaned during my stay. And the mattresses were much too soft for my liking. Toilet flush was not working properly.

This place is just a paradise in the tropical ricefields of Mengwi. Owned by a local noblesse it is located in a traditional village (Indo.: desa adat). The resorts offers you a genuine Bali experience that is gradually vanishing due to the surge of modernity and the influx of foreign infuences. During our stay coincidently the 3 days Odalan Ceremony took place at the local Prime Tempel (Pura Kahyangan Dalem), upon our request the staff helped us with traditional clothing and offering preparation to enable us to fully participate in the 3 days/nights of rituals, processions, dances, prayers and blessings. The breakfast was more than sufficient consisting of Balinesse and Western choices. The restaurant is also open for lunch, even when it is not explicitely mentioned. The dinner menu consists of Western and Balinesse choices as well and is very well prepared. For those who have trouble consuming flaming spicy asian food need not to be afraid of ordering Balinesse food, as the flaming spicy (Indo.: pedas) will come if you request fot it yourself. The Pumpkin and Corn soup are recommended, the kitchen is excelent. Our rooms were located in a valley and a swimming pool.

The whole complex although perfectly clean and continously well kept by staff has signs of aging, as humidity damage on walls and electricity sockets are becomming visible. Probably as most visitors are short stayers it wouldn't be of any nuisance, however it is a pity to see such a great place gradually deteriorating by aging, a small renovation on affected walls and electricity sockets will help this place for years to come.
