I liked everything. The first of many positives was the owner coming to pick me up at the dock. He came back because I had a big suitcase. After spending one night at Juma Cottages, I extended my booking for one more week. It was a perfect place to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of Lake Toba. I strongly recommend Juma to anyone.

There was not one thing not to like. Everything was exceptional.

Wonderful cottage on the lakeside with a beautiful open view of the water. As it has only just opened before covid, everything is still almost new. Both the family room with 2 King-sized beds and the bathroom were very spacious. The construction and the furniture are of nice quality. The owner is a very nice and helpful person, who speaks a very good english. On an island that has known its glory days, and where most hotels haven't been renovated in a long time, this cottage is an excellent yet affordable choice.

As European tourists, the only thing that disturbed us is that they allow big groups to party and karaoke from morning until late at night (around 11pm). We would've wanted more quiet to relax next to the lake.

Superb and relaxed accommodation at the lake a little outside the center of Tuktuk. Nice seating options outside on the terrace and in the garden. Rooms are very clean. Staff is very helpful and attentive and offer many different services: - They helped us with a transfer to the airport - They rent out scooters - They have a laundry service We also tried a jetski for an hour, super experience. Last but not least, the food is simple but very good quality and tasty. The ferry from Tigaraja harbour in Parapat stops directly at the quay of the accommodation. Highly recommendable! Would stay again.

Location, spick and span rooms and compound, beautiful view from the room and balcony, quiet and tranquil. Staff very friendly and helpful. The owners, a couple, live there and are extremely helpful. A small restaurant that serves local delights like mee goreng and nasi goreng. There are other choices too. Had delicious banana pancake, omelette for breakfast. I loved the peaceful environment, a bit away from the very active touristy locations where most hotels are located in Tuk Tuk.

Some suggestions: Since this is not an air-conditioned cottage, ceiling fans ( since the rooms are big, need 2 😊) would have been nice. A stand fan is provided though. The idea of course is that it is cool by the lake. Just that sometimes it can get a little hot, mainly afternoons. A pair of hand towels and a hook or a bracket near the basin to hand the hand towels would be nice.

Gorgeous large room, with the most stunning view. The two owners were super kind, they also dropped us off at the ferry early in the morning. Very nice and quiet location on the lake, we even rented some sups there!

-We hadn't received a message before arriving, and we had read in the reviews about a pick up so we weren't entirely sure. When we arrived, we didn't really get any info from the reception (about wifi, scooter rentals, if there's a restaurant on site etc.) so that could improve a bit. The owners were very friendly and informative though the next morning! -The walls are very thin, so we could hear our neighbors conversations. -I would say the price was quite high, the quality of the place was amazing but the communication from the getgo could be a bit better for that price:)

Location is great! We get a great view of the lake. So much green space you really feel the fresh air. The surrounding is quiet and calm. Room is super spacious. The hotel staff & owner are very very helpful, friendly, they really try their very best to make your stay a pleasant one. They’re always available to serve you without being too clingy. Their food is delicious. Try their lunch or dinner. And we’d like to give our special appreciation to the one and only waitress/cook in the hotel (sorry, i didnt get her name, although we got to talk for a bit), she’s a young lady and she has done a phenomenal job to get the restaurant running. She has a great hospitality quality, she works hard and if you stay there, make sure you tip her well. The rest of the staff was as friendly and helpful as well. Good job, Juma Cottage!

The rooms are not sound-proof well enough, so sometimes we can hear the next door neighbour talking. I think every Thu night, the bar next door has live music that goes on until midnight. 😞😞

PROS: - very clean and spacious rooms for 4 adults - the bathroom is huge and clean - the rooms are quite new - very good location, only 10 minutes to Ambarita ferry terminal, Huta Siallagan, traditional market and eatery. - spacious car parking - large garden and gazebo inside the cottage location, good for relaxing and bbq spot - access directly to the lake - staffs are friendly and let us check in early before 11 am

Minor Cons: - no swimming pool - no sandy beach but it has huge green area

Lake access and beautiful view from the garden as well as the room - I think The most beautiful out of all The accomodation I’ve seen while walking around Tuk Tuk Village. New and very clean apartaments. Great banana pancaces for breakfast:) Very warm and helpful owners- helped organize a guide and transport around The lake as well as futher trip.

Absolutely nothing!! I only wish I stayed 2 nights insted of 1- I would rent a scooter to go around the surrounding villages and hills as the roads are quite empty there compared to other places I’ve been in Sumatra and pleasant for a ride on your own.

We were with 4 persons in the room 4a, which is a family room. The rooms were clean and very big, so there is enough space. The beds are big and really cozy. The room had a big balcony with a table and 4 chairs. The bathroom is really big and you can enjoy a separated shower with warm water. Also the bathroom is very clean and spacious. Additionally you have good towels, shower creme, shampoo and a kettle in the room. The staff is friendly and will help you with any questions. They can organize the ferry back and taxis to every destination. Also for motorbikes you can ask them. If you have no idea what to eat, the Juma Cottages offers a breakfast and a dinner menu for you. It is not the best food, but it is enough and has a good price. The area has access to the lake, so you can go swimming without searching for a beach.

The location of the guesthouse is on the edge of Tuktuk, so you have to walk a bit to the restaurants or the ferry station, but due to the size of Tuktuk, this is not really bad. Another point is the price, the Juma Cottages is a bit more expensive than other housings, but the price is justified due to the comfort. So there is nothing really bad.
