We were pleasantly surprised by the location. From our terrace, we had a view of Mt. Etna, covered in snow. Just gorgeous. The town is very cute, built on a hill, easy to walk around but not so easy to drive around, given the narrow streets. A mountaintop town with easy access to Mt. Etna.

Only disappointment is that most of the restaurants were closed, due to the holidays. We ate at a very good pizzeria the first night but wanted something besides pizza the second night. Would have been ideal to have walked to one of the nearby restaurants.

Cento Tari Guest House is a boutique hotel in the heart of Castiglione di Sicilia. We booked the attic studio with a large patio that exceeded our expectations. The studio was well-appointed with all amenities and was clean and beautifully decorated. The views of Castiglione from the large patio were also absolutely spectacular. The daily breakfast was delicious with eggs made to order, Sicilian pastries, seasonal fruits, and a selection of savory delights in addition freshly made coffees. Most importantly, the owners of this beautifully restored hotel are welcoming and attentive to the needs of its guests, contributing to a highly enjoyable stay. A special thank you to Virginia, Mariella and Salvatore.

We loved our stay at Cento Tari and the town of Castiglione di Sicilia. This was probably our favorite part of our trip to Sicily. We stayed in the suite on the top floor which had a great terrace with a wonderful view of Mt. Etna. We enjoyed the restaurants nearby in the town--some of our favorites of our trip and all within an easy walk through the medieval streets of the town. We highly recommend eating at La Cantina di Monsignore, La dispensa dell'Etna and Vitis wine bar. All were excellent with a great selection of Mt. Etna wines. Castiglione di Sicilia was a great base to explore the wineries of North Mt. Etna, and next time we would stay longer than 3 nights. Randazzo is a quick 20 minute drive and has great restaurants as well. There is a great cafe next door to Cento Tari where we had a quick pastry and cappuccino each morning (and sometimes a delicious café crema). Taormina was about a 45 minutes drive away, but we would skip this on our next visit as it was way too crowded and touristy for us.

The only thing that was tricky was finding the B&B. Make sure you email the property to ask for specific directions prior to driving there, as Google maps is not correct. I believe a nice printout of a map of the town can be found on the La Dispensa dell'Etna website--would be nice if the hotel provided this map on their website as well so guests can have that with them when they drive in. Being extremely sleep-deprived, this was a bit of a challenge!

This is a great base location to explore the North Etna area. We stayed 3 nights to explore the area. Maria Elena, Virginia and Salvo do a wonderful job of attending to their guests in a wonderful boutique hotel. The hotel used to be their grandparents' house and they are local to Castiglione di Sicilia. Descending the marble staircase made me feel like I was in a movie. Virginia's paintings in the lobby and breakfast room contribute to the feeling of a modern connection to the history of this hotel. I would recommend that travelers who want to explore Taormina stay here and take a day trip into Taormina. This is a much more authentic Sicilian experience. They were able on short notice to arrange a driver for us to do some wine tasting in the area. This place was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Our room had a terrace with a view of Mt. Etna. There is not much to do in the town itself during the day, except the castle, but it is a good location for the North Etna area. If you stay more than one night and walk to dinner, you will feel like a local. For restaurants, we liked Vitis and La Cantina di Monsignor. Even having been forewarned about the GPS not working to navigate all the way to the hotel, we still had difficulty finding the place. The directions to just stay on Via Regina Margherita were not sufficient. Sometimes you don't know how to stay on Via Regina Margherita. The streets are not visibly marked. Talk to the owners to get specific directions before you try to navigate the one way streets to the top. Once you have done it the first time, it is a breeze.

Because of numerous delays in getting there, I was quite late. Virginia, one of three siblings who owned and run the establishment, arranged at a local restaurant to get me a to go bag of food, which was much appreciated. All three were exceptional and providing friendly, courteous information, and Attempting to meet or answer my questions about the town. The room was excellent, very clean no complaints other than a small shower, (but bigger than most) which is typical. I’m over 6 foot tall so it’s difficult sometimes in these small showers. Great location and very nice building that apparently kept part of the original construction . Lovely building and well decorated and finished.

I would say small shower, but that just not possible in these buildings there just isn’t room for anything bigger. Really nothing to complain about. It was an excellent stay.

Lovely little guest house, beautifully decorated and a very good choice of breakfast foods. A very friendly local bar next door with the best arancini we tried in Sicily. Excellent restaurant off the Laura Square. Very helpful and friendly staff. We liked the town with its castello (nice wine to try there)

It was a little tricky to get to, although the instructions send by Marilena were perfect. Don't follow google maps!

We had a nice room with a terrace above the roofs of Castiglione with an outstanding view of Mount Etna. The room was well equipped, quiet and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. We didn't have breakfast in house but went to the lovely small café next door, where locals meet each morning. The town is a good starting point to visit Etna and Alcantara River. Everything was perfect.

The staff were flexible with our arrival and breakfast time. We were provided with dining options in the area. The guest house is situated in a charming town with great views of the area. We felt very safe. Highly recommended!

It took awhile for our hot water to heat up. I think that's because there were few guests due to it being the off season (cool weather and fewer guests to accomodate). I don't have anything else to suggest.

I opted for breakfast next door at the neighborhood coffee bar, mainly to get a sense of the locals. It was perfect.

A lift would have been a blessing (bad knee, old age and stairs don't mix) but I completely understand why installing one would be a nightmare in such an old building. I'll take the old building and endure the exercise over some abominable modernization.

The breakfast was great, got great offerings, well prepared. Staff was friendly and professional, good location of property. Friendly people throughout town, found a great restaurant.

It was difficult to locate property on arrival. GPS difficult to use and arrival streets difficult to decipher to get proper approach to property to unload luggage and locate parking. Finally assisted by staff. Everything great after that.
