Excellent breakfasts. For me usually a couple of fried eggs plus crispy bason with 2 double espressos but wife enjoyed the sweet tomatoes, cheeses and maybe a slice of cake from good selection, plus good range of fresh fruit. The room had all we needed and everything actually worked, for a happy change. Large fluffy towels and comfortable beds, decent aircon, quiet fridge, all efficient. Charming reception staff. suggest using them for taxis. Good local restaurants as recommended by hotel.

A minor negative is that the location is just a little out of the centre but even for this octogenarian it was quite walkable. The reception folk also introduced us to the metro, taken easily several times with one stop to the train station at end of line. Note that the Interbus for Taormina etc has its ticket office to the right of Station metro exit, so NOT the standard buses in front of the train station but is about 100 metres in front of that station. Need tickets before boarding and bus yard quite near. We used trains and buses quite easily in addition to a couple of day tours.

Continental breakfast was perfect. Fruit, pastries, yogurts, ham, cheeses, as you would expect, self service, but with linen napkins, table clothes, beautifully laid out.

The breakfast was great with eggs and coffee made to order and good fresh fruit. The reception and wait staff were so friendly, professional and willing to give advice on places to go and private transfers. If you like walking into an oasis after the busy streets you will enjoy the historic beauty of the building. We had a suite which was lovely.

My wife became ill in Catania & the Silvio and all the Hotel staff went out of there way to assist us during our stay including organising a doctor & medical tests etc. We were simply blown away by how welcome the staff made us feel and we almost felt like were staying in someone's home rather than a Hotel. So for this reason we cannot speak highly enough about the staff. The Hotel itself is excellent & extremely well located to the main street but quiet at night plus great air-conditioning and a comfortable bed. The breakfast was great with excellent coffee each morning.

The receptionists (Valentina who checked us in, and Silvio who checked us out) were both extremely helpful, friendly, and welcoming. They helped us with great enthusiasm, from getting into the carpark to getting the car from the carpark (and packing our luggage into the car safety). They were very pleasant and gave advice on local attractions. We were very impressed with both of them. The room was spacious, very pretty and well decorated. The bathroom has beautiful mosaics on the wall. The hotel was on a small street one small block away from a main street, which made it peaceful and quite easy to stop the car. Our room is on the ground floor right at the front, but we didn't hear anything from the street at all.

The hotel is a charming, traditional Italian hotel likely to have originated in the 1930s/1940's. The man at the front desk was amazing; very efficient, helpful and proactively provided information about must do/see in Catania. All staff were lovely and attentive. The hotel was a perfect base for exploring Catania as well as doing day trips to Taormina, Siracusa, Noto. The breakfast was great.

The furniture in my room was a little tired but fine; it was part of the charm.

The interior was like walking back in time to an elegant English hotel! We had a suite which was spacious, although a little outdated. The amenities in the bathroom were outstanding! Fluffy robes & towels, soaps, shampoo, conditioner…even items for the bidet. We stayed 2 separate nights & they were able to give us the same room & even had our luggage waiting for us. The staff was extremely helpful with restaurant recommendations, and arranged for an early cab…and coffee to go. The morning room was lovely as was the breakfast.

The location was a little out of the way and on a dark street.

The room was big, clean, and comfortable. It was beautiful but practical, with a good bathroom. The air conditioning worked well despite the high temperatures we experienced. The location was amazing, just a 5-minute walk from the main pedestrian street. It felt safe to walk around both day and night. The staff was very kind and professional. The parking was easy and convenient, as the staff took care of everything related to it. The breakfast was good.

In the mornings, you can hear the doors of the rooms next to you opening and closing, and you wake up with that noise.

Enormous rooms, extensive choice for breakfast - cold buffet and hot items on request. Extremely helpful staff regarding sightseeing and very friendly staff too. Oversized shower cubicle in the suite was very nice.

Well, Catania, outside the very centre is a bit scruffy like many big cities and so is the area that the hotel is in BUT the hotel is an oasis and only a minute or two’s walk from the chic Via Etnea. Don’t let the appearance of the area around the hotel put you off. It is a great place to stay.

The hotel had a lovely old world look and feel. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooms were very roomy, comfortable and quiet.

It is unfortunate that the hotel is located in a neighborhood that has heavy graffiti and bags of garbage up and down the street. However, most streets near the historic area look like this as well. Cantania was a bit disappointing with the amount of graffiti and how dirty it was.
