I recently stayed at a beautiful castle hotel in the countryside of northern Italy. The architecture and surroundings were truly breathtaking, offering a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The staff, for the most part, were exceptionally kind and attentive, especially those serving breakfast. The breakfast itself was delightful, with a variety of local delicacies that added a special touch to each morning. Overall, staying at this castle is a unique experience, perfect for those looking to immerse themselves in the beauty of northern Italy. With a few updates and a consistent level of hospitality, it could truly become an exceptional getaway.

There are a few areas where the hotel could improve. The rooms, although charming, could benefit from an update. The bedding felt outdated, and a refresh would make the stay much more comfortable. Additionally, the gym was under maintenance during my visit, which was disappointing for guests wanting to use it. Lastly, the receptionist, an older gentleman, could have been more welcoming. His demeanor didn't quite match the warmth of the other staff members, which was surprising

We were looking for somewhere to stay for 2 nights between the coast and Milan and luckily found this place. For the amount we payed it's the best Hotel I've stayed in! An incredible building with beautiful architecture, the way they have added to the castle with glass corridors and the pool creates a perfect mix of old and new. Our room was really large and had a great view of the gardens that surround the building. The restaurant is insanely good and worthy of a review in itself. If you've found this hotel on booking.com, it's an absolute gem and worth a visit - best of all is the staff who were more than helpful and even gave us a lift back to the train station!

This property was gorgeous! We were for once overwhelmed by a hotel, which in this case is a 15th century castle. The grounds were so well kept and you could sense the pride in keeping it that way. This place truly exceeded all our expectations. Location is in the middle of nowhere but well worth a stopover! Dinner was fabulous. The chef deserves a Michelin star because everything was perfect from presentation to uniqueness to taste!

The only reason it isn’t getting a 10 is because our room was extremely old. I hear there are other rooms that are newer so you could ask for those ones but ours in particular definitely needed some attention. It was very uncomfortable to shower.

Beautiful castle with amazing restaurant. Bedroom was huge, gorgeous and spotless. Bathroom was large but had a very small shower over the bath which let it down a little. Restaurant was as good as anywhere we’ve ever eaten - food was interesting, local and very very tasty. Staff were a little slow

Breakfast was ok but not spectacular. Staff were generally helpful but a little grumpy

It was low season, I think there were maybe 3 or 4 rooms occupied in the whole castle, so consider this for our review! The staff was very friendly, easy check-in and check-out, at dinner time, the restaurant was excellent, great food and wine at a reasonable price. Breakfast was also great, we had custom made omelettes that were to die for. Overall it was a fantastic experience, highly recommend it!

We didn't like that we stayed for only one night, that's all!

The property itself is spectacular. Building Architecture. Facades . Gardens .

There is no organized outdoor areas ( pool or a seating or sun loungers ) to enjoy , have a drink , relax . I had a dinner in a bistro as main restaurant was fully booked and the menu was a bit disappointing as well as setting , looked like a temporary or just added tables and chairs in a corridor.

Castello de San Gaudenzio from start to finish was beyond anyone's dream. Efficient, courteous, quality by Excellence (which one seldom fines these days) .The Indoor Pool fabulous, the breakfast was Freshly made (not frozen fruit salad) eggs to cook as you desire. All Team staff especially the Head Waited at Dana restaurant were Decor, food presentation, quality, and service was EXCELLENT ! Far better value than any Michelin star restaurant/.

Stunning historical location. Incredibly cosy bed. We stayed for one night as part of a road trip with our dog. We ended up sleeping for 11 hours due to the amazing bed and total Peace. We were restored! Great little kitchenette so you can prepare your own meals in your own time. Fabulous.

Quite hard to find, it could use a bit more signposting. Danny helped us locate the room in the end, although the phone reception was patchy we got there in the end. Wouldn’t stop us from returning though.

Huge territory and a historical building in a really quiet environment. Friendly staff. It was cold outside, but in a room it was really warm, I generally dislike to sleep in a too warm room, but somehow it was warm and fresh at the same time, I had a wonderful sleep. Room was decorated in a style, it worth looking at it. Breakfast was not the biggest, but good.

Quite remote location, don't know how to come there without a car.
