Pure perfection! I can't get over how beautiful everything in Castello di Monterone was. It's like you stepped in another world. The gardens are lovely, many places to sit and enjoy the EXTRAORDINARY view. The rooms are lovely, the cleaning is very detailed, the best! I am still dreaming about the breakfast we had there. Homemade bread, local eggs that melt in your mouth, fresh juice, jam and FANTASTIC muffins, cakes, cookies, biscuits... Overall a spectacular experience and would recommend to everyone!
We liked it all, just info for people coming next -The restaurant Gradale (for dinner) has limited options for people expecting classic Italian food, it's very elevated and specific regarding choices of ingredients. Not for us, but many people would love it for sure. -Taxi is more expensive than expected because the taxi charge us from the moment it is called no matter where it's coming from, so to the centre it goes up to 25 euros. If you get a taxi from the centre of Perugia it's around 15 euros cause the start price is normal.

The property is absolutely beautiful, lovely historical building with pretty well maintained gardens. The pool and hot tub area is great to use. Breakfast really good quality too and hotel staff all very friendly and welcoming. Perugia is not far away by taxi if you don’t have a car and costs about 15-20€ to get there.
Minor thing, but the air conditioning wasn’t fantastic and at one point was not cooling the room properly. Although to be fair, the weather was very hot (38°C) so the air conditioning might have struggled a bit! When we spoke to reception they kindly sorted it straight away for us.

I absolutely loved this property, we were so excited to stay in a castle and it was amazing in every way. It was stunning!! We stayed here at the end of our trip in Italy, we were in Italy for 2 weeks and we were so happy that it was at the end because it was perfect to just relax and enjoy the beautiful view. The people who worked there were incredible and it was close to town but not so close to be able to enjoy peaceful surroundings. The view of Perugia from the castle was amazing and the sunsets as well. The food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced unlike some other hotel restaurants are. I would come back here in a heartbeat!! Perugia is such a beautiful medieval town and we very much enjoyed exploring it.
I have nothing to say here, loved everything!

The facility is simply spectacular. We stayed a six days, and never tired of the visual delight just looking at the castle, the views, the grounds. Indeed, I was so taken by the experience that I have paid for some friends to go there just so I can exude with them about what a wonderful place it is. Service was very professional and congenial. The front desk helped us with everything from internet to figuring out where to park for the Umbria Jazz Festival. We spent time every day at the pool before venturing into the heat of the afternoon. The restaurant was excellent and accomodating. We arrived mid-day without having eaten, and were immediately offered a meal at a time when many establishments would have been closed. The breakfast was quite complete, the evening wine selection as well. I cannot recommend Castello di Monterone highly enough and plan to return.
Removing the robot from the pool a little earlier in the morning.

Where to begin? A truly extraordinary building set on the hills facing Perugia. Stylish, beautiful, elegant. This is a dream destination. The castle has been sensitively restored, mixing history and 21st century luxury. The views are incredible. The rooms are well proportioned. The English speaking staff were friendly, helpful and always smiling. We wanted to stay forever… so we’ll be back again soon - for a longer stay. It’s expensive - but worth it. Am still smiling.
The only, tiny thing we’d change is the music in the restaurant. Slightly intrusive, and not easy on the ear. But not bad enough to spoil the experience.

We have stayed in several "castle hotels" in Europe over the years. THIS particular property is more than just AMAZING! The whole property has been lovingly restored by the family that runs the hotel and it shows everywhere! Not knowing exactly what the rooms were like, we booked a "classic" room. It was wonderful and castle-cool! The view of the court yard was super. Large bathroom and well appointed. Our dinner and the breakfast were as excellent as the hotel itself. Super and easy parking. There are spa facilities and a great pool and hot tubs. The views of the surrounding area and distance to Perugia make it well located. If you want a "castle" experience or are looking for a castle-destination wedding...look no further! A MOST excellent place to stay. Cannot wait to return! A reason alone to visit Perugia!
The only thing that could have made it any better...was if we didn't have to leave.

The hotel is set in a beautiful spot with a nice park around it. The rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious. The pool area was fantastic. The location is perfect (albeit you need a car) for exploring the surrounding area and Perugia. Overall a very calm and "zen" vibes.
The hotel was seriously understaffed during our stay. We had to repeatedly go to the reception to ask for the waiters to come, as there were none in the hotel bar and in the pool area. The little staff that was there was helpful, polite and professional.

Wonderful property , a real castle. The grounds were perfection, not a weed in sight, the gardener was even seen to be picking toadstools out of the lawn ! The hot tubs a bonus after returning from a day out exploring the beautiful countryside. The room was spotless, high quality towels and bedding , very comfortable bed. Breakfast offered lots of choice with a view to die for. Dinner exceptional with a good choice of wines available . Staff very friendly and helpful , excellent customer service , also very smart in appearance .
Absolutely Nothing !

The care and consideration provided in a most sympathetic restoration and renovation were highly evident as we entered the gates of Castello Di Monterone. The stature of the Castello proclaimed history and significance, the beauty of the grounds and gardens provided a calm and relaxing ambience. Views from the Castello were amazing - to the city of Perugia and the rural surrounds - so much contrast between the valley mist and emerging sun. Our room was well conceived and provided a very comfortable and relaxing ambience. The menu and standard of presentation was highly commendable - the staff obviously working hard to excel.
Extremely difficult to place a negative.....I give up!

Exceptional breakfast every morning, very large buffet offering many choices. Dinners were also very good. And the view from the dining area was spectacular! It was so peaceful and beautiful both in the mornings and evenings. The grounds of the castle are lush and beautiful and very well maintained. Allan, the caretaker's pride is obvious. Also, Allan's kind attention to us during our stay was very much appreciated.
