Room was spacious and clean. Amenities were well stocked and all inclusive, including all refreshments in the refrigerator. Service was great. Outdoor private onsen was relatively well-maintained and despite being right beside a forest, the open air balcony was clean. Breakfast and dinner are both included, the menu is extensive and delicious, especially the beef course.

Would have preferred more communication with guests during check-in, but it could be due to their limited command of English. For example, would have appreciate if the hotel told us the air-conditioning was available but we needed to request for it for them to change the setting. We slept without AC on the 1st night and it was so warm with minimal ventilation.

Without doubt, this hotel is THE BEST hotel(also the highlight) during our entire trip in Japan and I am very glad that we chose this hotel for our first authentic Onsen Ryokan experiment. Every staff we met there was super friendly and very caring for the guests. They checked with us multiple times regarding the time for breakfast/diner, if we would need taxi service and they could help us to book etc. The mini bar is free with many choices(alcohol vs non-alcohol) and the room is spacious with a private onsen bath. Great place to relax! The food there was just amazing, we enjoyed every single dish(look like an art piece!) and the view of the restaurant was fantastic with the bamboo forest. An unforgettable experience and highly recommended!

A truly one of a kind experience. The hospitality is unmatched. The dinners were excellent, especially the teppanyaki so I highly recommend taking that option. All staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. So much detail goes into making this a wonderful luxury experience. We wished we could stay longer. Room is gorgeous with lots of bonus amenities.

Nothing! Everything was perfect.

The service standards were fantastic. The staff were very attentive and patient, and (at least for the staff attending to us during our stay) were able to communicate fluently in English, so we felt at ease asking whatever questions we had. The room is every bit as impressive as it looks in the photos and there were plenty of complimentary items in the room. Yukatas and slippers were also provided for wearing around the hotel. The food for breakfast and dinner were both also excellent.

Nothing.

Amenities and dinner were exceptional. The staff were extremely helpful and went the extra mile to make our stay special. The room was comfortable and relaxing and offered a different side to Japan centered more on the nature and just how beautiful Hakone is. We came for a big celebration and an unexpected change of plans left us asking staff for a great deal of help in trying to accommodate a long itinerary. Staff were extremely patient and helpful in making this happen. They took exceptional care in making sure we had a take-away meal for our very early departure. That day ended up being the most memorable of our entire trip.… We owe our most precious memories of our trip to the staff and we can’t thank you enough!

Absolutely nothing!

This space is gorgeous. The rooms offer a lot of amenities from the private onsen, porch and outdoor shower to the stocked mini fridge and espresso. We loved the Japanese design and comfortable, down filled bedding. Dinner and breakfast go above and beyond. The omakase dinner was exceptional and exciting. We are adventurous and enjoyed every bite. We splurged on a sake tasting that made it extra special, despite getting a bit too tipsy! Everyone takes great care of you and give you kimonos to wear around the property.

Our room was facing the outer road that we took to arrive at the property. We could hear and see the cars driving by as we were enjoying the onsen. Unfortunately, I felt this deterred from the experience as I wanted to feel totally immersed in the mountains.

What did I like...I believe it is what did I loved and still love about this place. It far exceeded my expectations. The location requires taking a bus or taxi if you're coming from Odawara Station, but it is about a 15 min ride. Right when we arrived, a staff was waiting at the front gate to welcome us. From the check-in experience and staff showing us our room as well as going through dinner plans for the night was so detailed and amazing. The room was very big and everything you needed was available. The private onsen tub was impeccable and provided a beautiful view outside. Dinner was delicious and memorable. Every step of our dinner journey was followed with amazing service and a wonderful night with my partner. Breakfast was truly magical and relaxing. We chose the traditional Japanese breakfast and the food was perfect for the day. I would love to come back here

During the time I came here (October) season, I noticed the mosquitoes at the hotel were huge. Although I know the hotel is in the mountains, I didn't find bug spray in the room or outdoors near the balcony. That would probably be the only thing I recommend but I have nothing I didn't like about this hotel. Everything was met with beyond expectation.

You could not be treated better elsewhere! The staff are amazing! So happy to please! Coupons for discounted shuttle, free bar, amazing food! Your own onsen! The rooms are amazing. We loved it all!

Not a didn’t like but more advice.. Don’t catch the train to tonosawa. It has so many stairs and isn’t luggage friendly. Catch a cab from hakone.

Located slightly further away from the train station and on a covered mountain side, this was a great 2 day trip. While being further out from the train station might seem like a bad thing it was actually great to have that space and quiet. The staff was amazing and very patient with us. Could not give a higher score! The ambiance was also great for those seeking to unwind and unplug (no TVs). While not the best meals, there was at least good attempt with locally sourced ingredients and beautiful presentations. Lastly, when it comes to other things to do. Have a plan on activities or attractions you want to visit ahead of time. There isn't much nearby and the town center is relatively small. Yet, with good planning there's a convenient bus service as well as cab service (for a fee) which makes it generally fine to get around but don't expect to walk all over.

While the food was beautifully presented, it's not going to be your most memorable. Everything was good but nothing was great except if you pay more for their Teppanyaki dinner. Which I dorecommend. Additionally, I should mention that you either shouldn't have a late night appetite because the food service at night is sparse and not what I'd call ideal late night choices for western palettes. But that's opinion but I'm just looking for a sando at night and not a lobster. The tubs can appear small. If you're expecting a big pool/sauna they didn't have that. It's just a private bath outside for each room. It's cozy for 2 but don't expect a lot of leg room if you're on the taller end.

Rooms were very clean and we loved the private onsen on our balcony. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful; they assisted us in booking everything from taxis to private Onsen experiences at other resorts. The Kaiseki meals were amazing and we loved the free drinks / refreshments section (and the ability to roam the hotel in the Yakutas that the hotel provided). The complimentary wine, tea, snacks, refreshments etc. that were provided in each room was a very nice touch. The hotel was very quiet, all of our needs were attended to, and it was just what we needed after the craziness of Tokyo.

The hotel doesn't have many central amenities / facilities. There was no resort Onsen, gym, etc. (although the hotel indicated that they were in the process of building one). It was also a bit difficult to reach - we had to take the bus (with a lot of luggage) from Odawara station to reach the hotel. There is nothing within walking distance - if you want to leave the resort you need to reserve a taxi in advance or try to figure out the timetable to get picked up by public bus. The hotel rates were also a bit pricey / not the best value. You may be able to get more "bang" for your buck elsewhere.
