Honestly, it's more than just excellent accommodation, it's a whole experience of living and exploring this house and its history. The host was really helpful and offered us a great tour of the place. They also have brand new bikes for rent - which is great because the area is excellent for biking. Plus they give tailormade tours of the surrounding area and its very interesting history.

I liked everything.

I loved everything about my trip at Ikuno ! The house was already warmed up when I arrived. Inside the house, traditional architecture allowed for very nice cosy rooms. If wanted, it was possible to open up the sliding doors to have a nice outdoor view. The kotatsu was perfect for reading books while keeping me warm, and the old bath experience was quite something. The house is located near lot of shrines to visit. If outdoors walk on mountain pathways is your thing, you won't be disappointed! People here are quite enthusiastic about awnsering your questions about the history of the city, which is rich to say the least. If you want to experience what it is like to live in a traditional japanesse home while having things to discover all around it, I can only recommend you to take a look at Ikuno Stay !

They did an awesome job restoring the place and it felt very special living in a traditional Japanese house. There were many “antiques” which is nice for display but slightly clutters up the place for staying overnight. Staff were responsive and kind.

Be aware the property gets very cold in winter. With heaters in each room and kotatsu in the “living room”, it feels fine in those rooms once it warms up but you really feel the cold going to the toilet or using the shower at night.

We really enjoyed the experience and ambience that the building and all its traditional features including location provided. We spent a nice slow week here. It surprisingly snowed lots! This made it very cosy to use the living space to relax and breath, watching the snow fall out of the expansive corridor windows. The tiled bathroom was also a very cool experience.

We loved the whole property! No complaints (:

The house is very spacious, especially for 2 people. It was great to discover so many areas with all the sliding doors, creating an authentic Japanese experience. The bathroom has been modernised. We were given a comprehensive list of local recommendations in the area. The heating in the house was very warm, especially when it was 1 degree outside at night. Check-in was simple, with ease of communication.

The accommodation is fantastic; it's like being in a movie. Rehan is the best host we could have asked for, helping us immediately with a medical emergency we had. I highly recommend staying here!

Absolutely beautiful and a fantastic opportunity to stay in a traditional house. We loved it. It was very clean and well maintained. The small town is very peaceful and we had a wonderful meal at a small restaurant 4 mins walk from the house.

Nothing not to like.

The property is beautifully maintained and very clean. If you've never stayed in a traditional Japanese house before, this is a great way to experience it. The area is quiet, with only the slight sound of running water just outside your bedroom window. Baths are well cleaned and great for taller/bigger people.

This is a traditional Japanese house with tatami, futon, bath. It's fully equipped but I haven't used it. If you want a Japanese experience.

There was some confusion and some other guests try to enter at night but it was quickly fixed by the staff. It's a bit isolated.
