This is hands down the best hostel I've ever stayed in. Genuinely, I would pick this hostel over a 5-star hotel any day. The room is large, comfy and well-equipped with a small table, tissues, travel guides etc. I LOVED the Kumamon dotted around the hotel, especially the Kumamon key chain and the Kumamon that will sit in the receptionist seat. Everything is so clean and tidy! The decorations of the hostel blew my mind, I genuinely had never seen such exquisite interior designs. The hostel even had a huge powder room, perfect for us ladies, and a huge common area with so much manga, a massage chair, games and even PCs! I would return to Kumamoto just to stay at this hostel again.

The owner was very friendly and helpful. She gave a tour of the property and told me about events in the areas which I appreciated. It was very nice, cozy, and well decorated. I especially like the common room which had manga and movies. It also seemed like there were shared PC that could be used. There was also a cool rooftop area, but I didn't use it for too long since it was cold. I booked a shared room with a futon and it was spacious. It was fairly close to Kumamoto Castle and only 2mins walk away from one of the tram stations as well.

Upstairs sink didn't have hand soap so you would have to either go downstairs to wash your hands or use the downstairs toilet.

My best hostel experience ever! The whole atmosphere of this place is superb, the hospitality is excellent! I even got a free room upgrade. There's a nice relax area with TV, PCs, mangas, you can use all of these without charge or you can chill on the top floor with beautiful view to the Kumamoto castle. You can buy bodysoap, shanpoo, toothbrush, towels etc if needed (100-200yen). The Kumamoto castle is about 15 mins walk, and you can easily get on any public transport. I happily recoommend this place to any female solo or group travellers as it really adds another layer to your stay.

This place is literally like a museum with beautiful, maybe even rare collections of the owner Miki-san. The dorm room is spacious. The entire space is very clean and well-maintained, beautifully decorated with lighting and trinkets. For me, the major plus is a wall full of manga and past issues of Shonen JUMP ... I can spend months here!!!

That I had to leave. Also, please also look elsewhere to book this accommodation bc Booking is more expensive but they deny that. So much for price matching??

I was using the SunQ bus pass, and this hostel was about a 7 min walk from the bus terminal. I arrived before check-in and was able to drop off my luggage so I could sightsee. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful. The hostel is beautifully decorated and very clean. The goldfish in the entryway are stunning. I had a private room with plenty of space for my luggage and futon. The room has an AC/ heater unit and a small table, too. There are bathrooms downstairs and upstairs, and the shower is spacious and clean. I used the upstairs lounge room to relax and chat with another hostel guest. There are A LOT of manga there, but I didn't have a chance to read any. I briefly went to the roof in the rain to see the castle lit up. I didn't have a chance to do laundry or use the kitchen, but everything was neat and easily accessible. I had to leave very early the next morning, and self checkout was easy. I felt at home and very safe staying here, and I can't wait to visit again. The pictures are of the goldfish in the entrance and some sakura on the walk to the bus station.

The walls are a bit thin, so it took a little while to fall asleep. The other guests were very courteous and quiet though so it was fine.

The host was really nice. It was very beautiful inside, and you can see Kumamoto Castle from the rooftop. It has a kitchen, laundry room, shower room, powder room, and you can buy towels or toothbrushes if you need them. I recommend you if you want to stay somewhere special in Kumamoto. You have to take the subway or bus from Kumamoto Station, but it's in between major tourist attractions and Kumamoto Station, so it's good for traveling. If you have luggage, I recommend a backpack rather than a carrier.

Everything and of course the Receptionist, she’s so amazing compared to Receptionists in Tokyo Chuo-ku Ginza and Minato ku Akasaka added into that I used to stay also in Aoyama,,, but this Hostel is really makes me feel the Harmonies,, unlike in Tokyo GINZA the most worst hotel in the entire world

Nothing it’s all perfect and very cheap compare to Tokyo Chuo ku Hotel located in GINZA , staff are not Japanese so they don’t know the basic moral ascendancy of traditional Japanese

I enjoyed yhe enormous amount of detail that went into every knook and crannie. Everywhere you looked.There was something new to see even if you have been in the room multiple times. it was a magical wonderland and a place you won't want to leave even the roof top is nicely done when I have a home.I hope it looks like this someday. And the staff is just as magical and kind as a new fairy tale.

The only thing I didn't like is that I couldn't stay longer

It's a good hostel for solo female travellers. It's clean and comfortable and I felt super safe for a 2 days stay. You share a room with 3 other persons but there is also a nice living room, kitchen and rooftop. The location is close to tourist attractions and Kumamoto station. The cleanliness of the whole hostel was a real plus! Note that there is no free shower gel or towels provided - either bring your own or pay a small fee to receive some!

What a glorious find! Book this place-you will not regret it. - great location a couple of minutes walk from both A and B trams, walk to the castle and centre - beautiful hostel with lovely interior -tatami mat floors and very comfortable futons - the hostess is very sweet and the whole place has a lovely feel to it - kitchen is big - super clean - rooftop observatory and table - laundry
