A very nice place on the outskirts of Iiyama. Within about 30-40min walk you can get to the spots of interest in Iiyama (museums, shopping street, etc). I found the house to be spacious and clean. It felt like being at my parents' place. The hosts are very kind and caring. They can accomodate within reason pick up at Iiyama station. The hosts recommended me attractions of interest in Iiyama. I enjoyed them a lot. I went in a rainy day and so my things were wet. Especially my shoes, the hosts did their best at drying them without me having to ask or anything. They also provided a place to put my bicycle so it would be protected from the rain. In the morning, they shared home grown watermelon with me. In short, I felt welcomed and I had a warming experience. I absolutely recommend choosing this guest house.
Please take precaution that in dark hours wild animals (foxes, boars, bears, and others) are active in the area. Safety precautions would be to plan on being home before dark, not going out alone after dark and having bells and lights to make your presence known to the animals. For me, it didn't matter since I can manage some level of japanese. But please note that the hosts only speak japanese and a few words of english. Consequently, communication is facilited through Google translate. I would advise to be considerate of making short, concise sentences that leave little to no ambiguity because the shortcomings of Google translate may cause misunderstandings.

Everything! The most loveliest hosts, felt really like spending the stay in their family. Since vegan dinner options were rare in Iiyama, the host lady prepared a vegan vegetable stew and tofu as a side dish just for me and we had dinner together at their family kitchen table. ♡ Though communicating in English was a bit difficult, the 3 of them made an immense effort to communicate with me via Google translate - loved and enjoyed learning more about Iiyama, their life and Japanese culture so much! Also, met their lovely daughter Natsumi again by accident in Nozawa at Haus St. Anton a few days later which was lovely! :) Thank you for everything!!!
That I had to leave after one night...

Amazing stay at Guest House Yukuru. Arigato, you really go above and beyond to make the guests feel welcomed into the pace of your lifestyle. Thank you for everything. I really enjoyed the traditional Japanese room, tatami mat bed, and home cooked meals were wonderful. Thank you for your kindness.
The house is in the countryside so it's not really walkable to town and no public transport available, but the hosts are very helpful offering to drive to nearby attractions.

The hosts were so friendly and accommodating. We had a language barrier, but hand signals and translators not a problem. . It is 15min drive to Nowzaonsen, and 20mins to Togari - japanese families stay to take advantage of the ski fields.
It is a little bit out of the way, we had a hire car, it was easy. I believe host will collect you from bus/trains etc, run you into town if required.

The owners take you places as it's far from everything, and were kind enough to come twice when I had missed my train station. The area is very beautiful and house nice. Stay was good.
If you have noisy people next room, it will be hell, you hear them as if they stay in your room! Plus sharing facilities with other guests but also with owners makes you feel more than an invited than paying guest, not very free. Not cheap though.

Everything! The hosts were friendly and helpful, they even recommended new spots to visit! The room was spacious and there were nice common areas, everything was super clean and the area around the house is beautiful. The house it’s a bit far from the station but they can pick you up and drop you there by car. It was a great stay!!! 100% recommend :)

Excellent hosts, lovely family atmosphere. Excellent cook! Breakfast has good options and so does dinner. Rooms are beautiful and comfortable. We especially liked the traditional futons. Good place to store luggage and a good sized kitchen to cook and store food in fridge. Thank you for a wonderful stay ❤️
It is a little far from the main town however the hosts will take you to and from the station etc for no charge. Very traditional house which is good but the paper doors are very thin and do not lock between rooms. Not obvious if it was possible to use the washing machine. Booking said bath available but not available when we stayed.

Really great experience, very friendly and welcoming. Although not within walking distance of town it was in a really unique position which had its own special feel rather than staying in town. Lifts were all organised so location was not a problem. Pick up and drop off was spot on time. Were transiting so only stayed for a night - would have liked to have stayed longer - would work well as a "base" for skiing, sight seeing etc.

The property was in a nice location close enough to Iiyama Station. The hosts were some of the nicest people we have met and drove us to and from the station (6:30am!!). One of the comfiest places we have stayed and hope we can go back soon.

Located next to farmland, u can enjoy nature. It is much clean n tidy. The kitchen is so big, it is quiet around... The host is so hospitable.
It is almost 3 kilo away from the train station. U sleep on the ground, the pillow is small. Thw host cannot speak english, but to use translator.
