I had a room on the 17th floor, the view over Lake Biwa was incredible- especially at sunset. There was fireworks in the lake one evening which was fantastic. I was in a Japanese style suite which was so spacious and comfy- just like having your own apartment complete with tatami mats. Free shuttle bus to and from Otsu station was very helpful, as was the luggage delivery service from Kyoto station. There were great restaurants around a 10 min walk away- Grill Sazanmi has incredible food. Was about a 30 minute walk to Otsu port to get the Michigan steam boat tour, or a 15 minute walk to the nearest stations to get elsewhere. No coin laundry facilities, but there is one about a 10 min walk away if you need it, and a local supermarket and drug store around 5 mins away. There is a small convenience store in the lobby of the hotel. Hotel breakfast was a buffet, I would recommend going earlier if you can as they tend to run out of bits around 09:30. I preferred the Top of Otsu buffet as it didn't feel like quite as much of a scramble.

Pool was closed- it's open during 'summer' which is late July/August for Japan, but this wasn't clear on either booking.com or the hotels website. Also means there is no-where to sit outside if the weather is nice as the Terrace isn't open. Restaurants in the hotel were fairly expensive- £50-80 for dinner for 1 person (around 10-14,000 yen). Another mirror in the room would be helpful, the only one was above the sink in the hallway, which was quite dark.

It is a nice hotel, rooms are good size, location peaceful with a beautiful view to Lake Biwa, especially view from Breakfast area is special. They operate each half hour a free shuttle bus to Otsu main Station. If you take taxi Zeze station is closer.

We had some issue with the door not opening, than you notice you are a little of the tourist path as English communication is limited. But they were able to help and restore it after some time, albeit it costing us some Holiday and relax time. The Pool is a disappointment, yes it is large, but only 1 meter deep, also there are not parasols to spend longer time outside. The building gives some time some shadow. But if you come for the pool you probably will be disappointed also as the opening times are very limited.

Clean rooms , beautiful lakeview, excellent breakfast, great management. Lots of space and very eco minded. All the shuttle bus drivers were very helpfull, friendly, and professional.

Request for a quiet room was not prepared for but management promptly took care of it when the noise became troublesome later. Front desk staff were not polite or friendly, very superficial and uncaring during checking even though it was not especially crowded, very unprofessional and un-Prince Hotel like. No concierge service and bell desk was manned by trainee who had no idea what restaurants were in the city which is famous for their Omi Beef.. Finally, there was no coffee in the room and no ice available. Was told very bluntly to go and buy ice at the convenience store.

Lovely room. The shuttle bus to and from Otsu station is an excellent service. The breakfast is very good with lots of choice. Great lake views. Good laundry service.

BEWARE!! We were there on a busy weekend and there were no tables for dinner in any of the restaurants. BE ADVISED to book in advance for dinner and not get caught out! We weren't the only ones, many people were having snack food from the lobby convenience shop for dinner that night. The food in the buffet restaurant was pretty good and a wide choice, but a little expensive. Lovely pool but also cost quite a bit extra for a swim.

The room is very spacious, after opening 2 luggages on the floor, I can still walk around the room freely without worrying being tripped. The room is clean and quiet. The toilet, washing basin and bathing area are all separated. The lake view is simply marvellous. The breakfast (buffet) is fantastic, lots of varieties to choose from. There is a convenience store in the lobby. A supermarket can be found at the entrance of the hotel. There are 2 swimming pools, but they are not opened on the day of my stay. A nearby Aeon Mall is only a few minutes drive away.

Quite a few small spiders can be seen on the outside of the windows, though they won't be able to enter the room, it makes the great view of Lake Biwa a bit imperfect.

The lake view was great! The windows really provided a beautiful view of the entire area - it was pretty much the entire reason we decided to stay here. Room was huge! Reasonably big bathroom for Japan, ample space for luggage, TV, additional sofa, seats, everything you need is pretty much provided. We also appreciate the bath salt provided! The hotel is a little off the main road, but there is a supermarket, and a 7-11, familymart, and some restaurants a good 7 - 12mins walk away, so that's not too bad.

The hotel is slightly out of the way, it's a ~20mins walk from Zeze station through a slightly dark and quieter residential area and then a single dimly litted pathway into the hotel area, which may be a little daunting if you're a lone traveler. But the hotel does provide free shuttle to Otsu station (do check their website for the shuttle timing) from i think 6am till 9pm! Super convenient for when you're checking in/ out with luggage. Laundry service is not provided unfortunately, but we did find a laundromat ~12mins walk away.

The room was very spacious for 3 people and very sufficient space for open suitcases wide on the floor. The room that I was given was with lake view. The view was spectacular with the full Lake Biwa view, including view of nearby buildings and mountains. We can see sunrise from the hotel room. There are some nice christmas decorations at the hotel.

The carpark is not free though it's just 500 yen per day. The parking lot is outside the hotel which is about 1-2min walk from lobby. The entrance to carpark is quite confusing though.

Staying was a truly remarkable experience. Situated near the Biwa Lake and just a short distance from Kyoto, this hotel offers the perfect blend of convenience and tranquility. The highlight of my stay was undoubtedly the breathtaking view of Biwa Lake from my room. Waking up to the sight of Japan's largest freshwater lake was a rejuvenating experience. The large windows in the rooms ensure you get an unobstructed view of the shimmering waters and surroundings. Adding a magical touch to your stay, making it truly unforgettable. Despite its peaceful location by Biwa Lake, the Otsu Prince Hotel is conveniently close to Kyoto. It's an ideal base for exploring the historic and cultural attractions of Kyoto while enjoying a quieter, more relaxed setting at the end of the day.

They gave us the big room in the corner with a dedicated living room that has a direct view of the lake. The free shuttle bus was a huge help for us to move around. Otherwise, we have to pay around 1500 JPY for a taxi ride to Otsu station. The staff were also helpful when we had to look for an ER due to an accident with our toddler. We will definitely stay here again if we ever come back to Otsu.

The only thing that bothered us was the lack of washing machine. We've been travelling in Japan for about a week by the time we got there, and we had to buy new clothes since we can not wash our cloths during our stay here.

Gorgeous views, perfect place for a little relaxing break. Good amenities and very friendly and helpful staff. Overall just a beautiful spacious place. Love that there is a complimentary shuttle service (which leaves every 30 min from Otsu station to the hotel and then back, so plan trips to Otsu station for ease of travel).

The toilet and bathroom overall were very dated for the rest of the hotel. Could see the nozzle on the toilet was due for a good cleaning or replacement. Internet was quite slow at times and elevators get VERY crowded during busy hours. Only offered tea and no sugar or creamers or even coffee in the rooms.
