We were very pleasantly surprised by the hotel: the room was a great size, the bathroom was big and really functional with great amenities, the mini-bar was stocked with complimentary non-alcoholic beverages (due to being a New Otani Club Member), there was really good coffee/nespresso machine (the Tokyo blend is one I'll buy at home!) and everything was absolutely spotless. Fluffy towels, clean sheets, great air conditioning, a wide variety and numerous plugs/outlets. The pool was complimentary (again, New Otani Club Member, which is free to join) although we didn't use it due to being out and about. Staff were lovely, and gave us lots of information (admittedly, I asked for the info - map of the area, map of the hotel complex, pool info, restaurant info). People have complained that it's far to the metro, but there are 3 lines that are all within 10 minute walk... and most of that walk is via the inside hotel complex so that seems really convenient to us! It's 15 minutes total to Shinjuki/Shibuya, but a nice quiet location. We didn't eat at any of the restaurants or have breakfast included because they are quite overpriced, but there is a Family Mart convenience store within the complex so we got yoghurt, fruit, etc. to put in the fridge to have for breakfast. The Akasaka-Mitsuke area is very close (10 minute walk) with a huge variety of restaurants, so if you're looking for a local lunch/dinner at very reasonable prices you can go there. In all, I absolutely loved the hotel (and the gardens!) and would truly consider staying again as well as looking at their other locations in Japan when travelling.
The only thing that I could comment on was the hardness of the beds. They were very firm, which some people may not like. I would've preferred a slightly softer bed, but it wouldn't stop me from staying again.

Our most positive experience was with Takashi, the concierge. We communicated with him before arriving in Tokyo, and he made arrangements for a private guide, restaurant reservations, concert tickets and even purchased our train tickets to Kyoto. He was truly amazing in his graciousness and helpfulness. The other staff were also incredibly friendly and helpful. The garden was maginificent.

Hotel was within walking distance of 4 stations, 2 were less than 5min away. The hotel has many restaurant options, ranging from western to Japanese food, even a coffee shop and a convenience store. Hotel has a beautiful garden along other facilities Service was great. Room was clean and looked recently refurbished, it was a good size (in general and not just for tokyo size) and had very good amenities. I chose the room.with the traditional Japanese bath. I recommend the experience This is the 2nd trip where I stay in this hotel, and I will do so again next time
As expected of a very big hotel, get ready to walk a bit. But it's worth it to have so many restaurants, stores and even a garden inside it

The facilities were wonderful and convenient. A beautiful garden on the doorstep. Many many restaurants to choose from. Room service was superb. The staff were most kind to allocate my missing phone on the day of my arrival. Kind and pleasant overall.
The room was much too dark. The view of the carpark was too close therefore curtains were drawn all throughout the day. Needs much more lighting for rooms facing that side

- Decent size room for Tokyo, clean, all amenities provided should you need. - Really good location - did the bulk of travel from Akasaka Mitsuke station which you can reach by heading through to the Garden Tower and following signs (ie walking mostly in aircon within the building. This is a game changer in the summer heat and humidity. Use exit D of this station to enter and exit, it’s closest to Garden tower entrance and you can get Ginza line and others). - Convenience of the restaurant floor (several choices and this comes in handy if you’ve been out all day exploring and just want to eat in house). - Breakfast is decent enough (it won’t change your life but it will do). You can have it at four different restaurants and the one with the view in the Garden Tower is really nice. Satsuki seemed to have the most extensive range (the only one with a fresh omelette bar for example) but has a ~1100 yen surcharge. - No extra charge for gym. It isn’t very big but has two treadmills and some other machines. - generally has an old world charm, there’s still an actual pianist in one of the lobby restaurants at certain times. They don’t make hotels like this any more! - gardens are really pretty. - most staff English is good. All very helpful and provide a great service.
- slightly frayed around the edges (e.g. old wooden cabinets slightly scuffed etc). Needs a refurb. - extra charge to use the pool - a bit of a shame to have such a nice pool and then deter most guests from using it by an extra charge (particularly in the summer when so needed!)

Room- It was spacious and overlooked the japanese garden and had a view of mount fuji on clear days. Garden- Oh my god i was transported when I was in the garden and I will visit again simply to experience it again! It was marvelous! Location- Spectacular location away from the crowded neighborhoods and felt safe and was clean and beautiful! Coffee- Very tasty
The enthusiasm in staff was missing and although this is a luxury 5 star hotel, it doesn't show in aspects of interior and the hallways and in the taste of the food. It was a bit dark and you can tell there is a bit wear and tear in the rooms. The bed was a bit hard bit really big. I think there is room for improvement in terms of style and decor and lighting.

Location was good for first time in Tokyo as there were three, maybe 4, subway stations in easy walking distance, so access to lots of major lines and neighbourhoods was easy. We also paid for a very good value upgrade to a spacious suite on a lower floor (my husband doesn't like heights!) - it was really big and excellent!! Nice beds, linen, pillows and pyjamas! Very comfortable. The Japanese garden was nice too.
It's a slightly weird hotel - so big, quite retro 1970/80s feel - lots of tour groups / cruise-ship groups when we were there. Didn't feel very "us" at first - but it grew on me! Had a unique charm. Front desk staff seemed to be doing an amazing job of dealing with large numbers of people.

The hotel was amazing. The staff were very helpful and friendly with excellent English skills. The room was immaculately clean and tidy, with fresh sheets and pyjamas every day. There is a huge range of restaurants to chose from all that we visited were fantastic. The location of the hotel is very central o Tokyo with the nearest metro a few minutes down the road. I have stayed here before (many years ago) and would happily stay again. Thank you.
Nothing, this hotel continues to exceed expectations.

Our garden room view was excellent. We could even see the pool area to know if it was a busy time to go down there. The room was also very quiet. You could hear a pin drop at night.
There were no hooks in the bath area for hanging your clothes or wet bathing suit. And the closet was blocked by the nightstand, so it was a trick to get the large suitcase in there and out of the way. Lastly, the pool was not included with the price of the room. There's an entrance fee for it, but it was a fabulous pool and well worth it for a relaxing break from walking all over Tokyo.
