The front staff was friendly. We were cold on the first night because the weather took a downturn and on the second night they gave us a blanket. The room was clean and so is the building. It's a really nice view if you want to sit on the second floor and look outside to the river. You can also view the front but there's more noise there. I was concerned about staying at these hotels because of many bad reviews for them. We took a chance on this one and the price is a bit more than a Thailand hotel. However, it's certainly not that bad. I think the hotels and guest houses are finally making some money so they can upgrade their places. That's what the 2-day stay for Visa run is doing for them and it's fine with me. I'm used to the harder bed mattresses in Asia so it did not bother me.

The hotel manager was very helpful and spoke English pretty well. We didn't have cash when we arrived (I booked online and thought I had payed online aswell) but he said just pay me in the morning when you have had a chance to exchange or grab cash. It's only a 5 minute walk to the slow boat terminal and there's a number of restaurants and shops around which offer packed lunches for the slowboat. Room was spacious and clean. Shower worked well and the terrace overlooking the Mekong was really nice to sit on and enjoy a beer.

Honestly it's frustrating having to pay for everything in cash. Even when booking online. I know this isn't an isolated issue. All of Laos runs the same way but it's still frustrating.

The room itself was quite large and the view from the terrace to the riverside and the street was nice. Staff was friendly and welcoming and the room simple but clean. Slow boat pier is ~800 m walking distance. Bars and restaurants across the street. If you need any help with booking trips (slow boat or anything), the staff help you with the organization.

There are ants. Nothing to worry about, just don't forget to lock your food in and you don't have to worry about that.

Sabaydee Guesthouse is excellent value for money for a night's accommodation before catching the slow boat. The linen was clean, beds comfortable (the mattresses a little on the firm side, but we're used to that in Southeast Asia). The bathroom was basic with a cold shower, but this didn't bother us at all, especially given the nightly rate. The young family running the place speak good English and gave us soap and towels as well. Great views of the Mekong River!

The man behind the counter was so nice, really helpful and let us exchange money with him and also booked us the slow-boat tickets. Rooms were clean & comfortable with AC and private bathrooms, however slightly dated. Rooms provided small bottles of water, towels and soap! Nice balcony at the top of the building that catches the sun till late with a nice view of the river. Perfect location especially if you are doing the gibbon experience.

We booked this accommodation because we wanted to take it easy after crossing the Thai-Laos border. We ended up extending our stay with another day because it was a chill guesthouse nearby food stalls and with a really nice view if the river. The air condition was really nice and the room itself was spacious

If you are in the bathroom you could hear the people in the hallway which felt a bit uncomfortable

Gorgeous location, we watched the sun set over the river and mountains from the big communal patio. Lovely building. The staff were very helpful in contacting the bus to tell us the timetable, and offered a taxi to the bus station at a reasonable price.

The air con in our room (room 15) wasn’t working very well, but we realised this too late to ask for a different room, and ended up just using the fan with the window open.

Cheap, simple rooms in a good location. I lucked out and got a room with a river view which was lovely. Even if you don't, there's a terrace with chairs that has the same awesome view. Room is pretty basic and not the cleanest, but it's a good deal and worked for me.

Staff were very friendly and helpful! Helped us out with exchanging our Thai baht (gave us a good rate), booking the slow boat and even taught us some Laotian! Great location as well - close to a nice rooftop bar and the slow boat pier.
