Wow! Just wow! We were on a two day cruise down the Mekong River and needed to book our own accommodation. It was this or a cheap backpack hostel. From the moment we arrived, they handled our bags, welcomed us with a cold towel and tea drink, told us times for dinner and pool (since we got in late). We all did a quick change and jumped into the pool for sunset. The view of the river and sunset from their infinity pool was definitely worth the cost of the room. It was perfect temperature after a hot day on a boat. They helped us to our room, got the A/C on and gave directions on how to contact them should we need anything (which we didn’t). They were waiting for us at the pool with towels and smiles. Dinner was not included but very reasonable given we are technically held captive on property. They had a nice selection of Asian and Western dishes but did run out of a few desserts (not the end of the world). The bed was so comfortable. The A/C does blow directly on your face at the bed which wasn’t ideal and the over head fan was too noisy but those were both minor. Since we only had a very short time there we were determined to utilize every piece of our stay. The shower is in its own room with great views. We woke early to enjoy coffee as the sun rose in our personal gazebo and then a quick dip in the pool before breakfast. Breakfast is a buffet style fairly traditional British. The croissants (even heated) were not the best and specialty coffees are extra, but other than that it was all good. Handling the bill at check out was seamless and you have the option of paying by credit card for an additional 4% (very standard). The level of customer service and English was impressive all around. They are definitely there to “please “ and I would say they did a superb job. If this hotel wasn’t in such a remote location, I would go back.

Hardly a complaint, but if I had to say something it would simply be that the fan was too noisy to leave on overnight and the placement of the AC is too close to the bed as it blows on your face. Again, these are easy work arounds.

The Le Grand Pakbeng Hotel was simply wonderful! The property sits perched on the top of the mountain with a beautiful view of the Mekong River and surrounding mountains. Our room was a riverside bungalow and as such, was a actually a separate building. The entire property - and especially our bungalow - was very quiet and peaceful. In the morning you can see the most gorgeous views from the property: the sun peeking through the low-hanging clouds which hugged the mountains. We had an opportunity to visit with Mr. Ket Thipphachanh who is the owner and developed the property not too many years ago. We enjoyed listening to how he developed is vision for a top-rated resort in Pakbeng and how he designed and constructed the resort with the best quality materials and labor. The hotel staff is attentive, warm, and it was clear they wanted to ensure our stay was enjoyable and comfortable. Our first night at the property we decided to dine at the property's beautiful restaurant at the top of the property with a million-dollar view of the surrounding mountains and Mekong River. The food was delicious and well presented and the restaurant staff absolutely top-notch! Finally, but not least, the hotel manager, Syarif, was amazing. Syarif's warm manner, personality, and delivery of quality guest service was equal to any 5-star resort in the world. He clearly was striving to ensure we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Le Grand Hotel. We will DEFINITELY be back!

I’m so grateful to have discovered this gorgeous resort, not only is the view breathtaking, but the story of the place is equally important! The owner build it from scratch with the intention of helping employ as many people from the village as possible. Nearly from every angle of the resort you can enjoy an incredible view, the staff is dedicated, very caring and friendly! They quickly resolve any need you might have ! This is Lao owned place and it contributes to an organization that helps provide with toilets and school supplies for people of the village, I highly recommend their tours and part of the profits of these tours go to the this organization. The entire intention of the space is one of care for the people and its employees. The architecture was done with so much care and the rooms have amazing views of the Mekong and mountains. Nice showers and spacious decor. I highly recommend you staying here and taking one of the tours! You can see elephants across the river often and many buffalo on the way to the resort!

Excellent staff. Great restaurant and fantastic breakfast. Room was very large and comfortable with fabulous views over the Mekong River. Outdoor space adjacent to room also offered great views over the valley below.

Shower temperature was hard to control and there was a bad smell coming from the drains in the bathroom. Both easily fixed, I suspect, so these are probably temporary problems that would not be experienced in all rooms.

The view of the Mekong was spectacular at dawn. Nice rooms, clean and comfortable. Restaurant was adequate.

The hotel is situated on some very very very steep slopes. Getting up and down to the main building was a bit of a haul. You can call the little bus to pick you up but to use the restaurant or other facilities. There were also a lot if steps, not always with handrails so if you have difficulty walking be advised.

The location and the view this place has is magnificent. The staff all speak English and are ready to help with anything you need. The Aircon worked great. The bed was comfy and the surroundings are quiet and relaxing. The shower was wonderful and the view from our bed was just magical! The food at the restaurant was delicious!

The pool closes right at sunset, so if you're arriving by boat you'll barely have about 30 minutes to enjoy it before it's closed. We booked a room with 2 beds but got 1 king size bed instead, we didn't complain because we wanted to get in the pool and changing rooms would take too long. The hotel is all steep stairs and ramps, so being in good shape seems like a must. The decorative pillows on the bed were falling apart, so maybe get rid of them and just have regular white pillows instead.

Amazing hotel, the rooms are just amazing. And the views are nothing short of spectacular. We were greeted with flowers floating on our little pool/jacuzzi and in the bathtub.

The location is quite far from the town, so going exploring or looking for a restaurant other than the hotel one is a little bit of a hassle.

Spectacular views over the Mekong River. Rooms are big and comfortable. We dined at the restaurant which was also very good. Unfortunately we only booked for one night as we were doing the slow boat cruise from Luang Prabang, I would recommend staying longer. The staff were very good in picking us up and dropping us back at the boat.

Not a problem for us but the hotel is on multiple levels which could be a problem for people with mobility issues.

We just stayed 1 night as we were on the slow boat. Pool was great, with an amazing view. Dinner delicious and breakfast had a small choice with croissants and fresh fruit. They picked us up and took us back from the pier. Room was nice with comfortable beds and hot showers. The staff were lovely and helpful.

Nothing.
