We read a lot of reviews before deciding to come here, and I am trying to summarize everything that we would have liked to know: - Transport: there is a shuttle to and from the ferry. when we arrived, they were already waiting for us; and they took us back to the ferry an hour before the ferry back to Mersing. Other than that, all transport needs to be arranged by yourself. We never walked into town as you have to go up and down a pretty steep hill and it was very hot; but we took a flyer from a taxi/moped rental guy at the pier when we arrived, who organized a taxi into town for us, and then we rented a scooter for 2 days to move around - Wifi: The wifi (at least where we were in the area behind the main building) was sufficient to watch Netflix and to have work calls. - Activities: As people have mentioned, activities that you book inside the hotel are much more expensive than if you book them in town, but you are paying for convenience. We only booked a snorkling trip with them; and arranged for other activities (scuba diving, scooter) in town - Food: Also as people have mentioned, the food at the restaurant is ok. We ate twice, which both was fine but did not blow our socks off. We often went to a restaurant right in front of the gate - it's right in front of the beach, drinks for 5 MYR and food for 1/3 of the price. Again, if you stay inside, you'll simply pay for the convenience of not having to go anywhere. - Gym: the gym is reasonably equipped, although there are no mirrors and the treadmill was not working when we were there, but plenty of dumbells and machines - Sandflies: The beach is beautiful, but there are loads of sandflies - our legs were bitten! Not the resort's fault of course, that just comes with a natural beach. Just make sure to bring bug spray or tiger balm to treat your bites ;)

While the team itsself is really friendly, I think overall the communication just wasn't great. We were unsure about the shuttle so messaged them twice in advance and never got a response (we called them then). We also tried to pay for our boat trip, and I went to the kiosk three times - the guy was always 'just away for a few minutes' or 'on break' or simply not there. We tried to go scuba diving with the dive school in the resort, we went there twice but noone was there, then we got the answer that both dive masters were out for two days and they didn't go diving and when we got back they told us that the price is (quite a bit) higher than anywhere else. Some of the facilities are a bit outdated, and the pool closes off super early - at around 6/7pm if I remember correctly.

The location is wow so amazing. One of the best beaches I’ve ever stayed at.

My issues weren’t with this property specifically but more with the concept of resorts overall (the tourist trap feeling). Specifically I think the resort is in dire need of a renovation. The interior of the rooms are pretty good and modern but overall the concept feels very dated. I would definitely stay at Tioman island again but I am not sure if I would choose the Berjaya resort. I would next time fly in on Berjaya’s plane and not take the boat ferry - that was a truly miserable experience.

The beach is clean and well managed. It is very suitable for people looking for peace, calm and relaxing. Comparing to Paya beach, Berjaya beach view is a lot better. The crowd is also just nice, not pack even though it is peak season which simply means Berjaya is prioritize quality over quantity.

The food can be better. The eggs and omelette are bad and the prawns are not fresh. The food taste can be improved. This is the area i personally think Berjaya must improved. Please just sent your chefs from KL to train the cooking staffs.

Pros 1. Yoga class : Bruce is a wonderful teacher. He adapts the session to his attendees lile entertaining partner yoga for families. 2. Berjaya resort is a safe place where you can leave your smartphone in the table. Best suited for elders and families with todlers. 3. Ideally located in front of Rengis island for diving.

Cons 1. Buggy driver not customer-oriented with dangerous driving (high speed and close distance to the pedestrians). 2. The Diving Master is not patient with children. 3. No evening buffet out of Friday/Saturday because of lack of clients. There is a nice snorkeling site in front of the swiming pool area (coral and colorful fishes). Be ready for a 100m walk/swiming)

The beach was long, clean and easy access to coral reefs, you just had to swim out and there they were. So good location if you like snorkelling. Pool area was nice as well. The restaurant just outside of the resort had much nicer food than the resort and at better prices. The staff at the resort were all very friendly and eager to help solve any problems that arose.

Rooms were old and in need of renovation, I feel we paid way more than it was actually worth. Also the people in charge of booking the dives could use a bit more training as they had no idea what they were doing. They told us dives were booked but when my husband showed up at the dive centre the next day no booking had been made. The people at the dive centre were very kind and accommodating so he could join the group anyway. Lots of crab-eating macaques were roaming around the resort as it was right next to the jungle so you had to make sure to close all windows when you left your room. There were signs telling the resort guests not to feed them but sadly lots of people did anyway. Also, make sure to use insect repellant as there are plenty of sandflies.

What a beautiful resort. Located on a beautiful beach, clear water, a reef with lots of fish (we also saw a turtle) can be seen in the water right next to the beach. Wooden hotel houses located in a beautiful, well-kept, green area, with a view of the sea on one side and the jungle on the other. Our cottage was very comfortable, for four people, with all amenities. Very comfortable beds. WiFi ok. Tasty breakfasts, especially tasty omelets made by one of the gentlemen. It is possible to buy cool trips at the hotel - snorkeling, jungle trekking, etc. Opposite the hotel is the island of Rengis, which you can reach by kayak or boat from the hotel pier. We are delighted with our stay at this hotel and Tioman Island in general. Paradise on earth.

The beach was gorgeous and the water turquoise and clean and clear. We could see fish swimming in the clear waters off the beach. There is a small island near the resort - easily reached by kayak. The snorkeling at the island is wonderful - we saw sea turtles and baby reef sharks! As a family, the double room chalet was perfect - kids in one room, us in the other. Two bathrooms was a bonus. The excursions from the hotel are terrific - we did a private snorkeling tour (6 hours) of nearby reefs, a 4 hour ocean fishing trip, a jungle walk guided by a very knowledgeable local naturalist and a intro to diving 4 hour class. All were well worth it and very reasonably priced.

The food was fine, but not amazing. Plenty of options and the servers were lovely and responsive and friendly.

Fantastic location - quiet, beautiful beach and pristine views. Resort has everything you need on site, no need to travel out. Good WiFi coverage throughout entire resort. Excellent staff - very polite, helpful and accommodating to our needs. Even gave us free goodies as they were closing their gift shop for the end of the season.

Overall cleanliness was decent but could be improved. TV location in two-bedroom chalet could be better. TV in single bed room is awkwardly placed which makes it hard to walk into the double bed room.

Great pool, lovely beach with decent reef & fish to see plus Ringgis Island reef (boat trip). We enjoyed the games room: pool, snooker, ping pong, air hockey in air con. Good size rooms with comfy beds and air con plus fridge. Buggy service is quick and fun. Staff helped us take son to clinic in town. Snorkel trip to Coral Island was very good. Reception can arrange taxi trips for you to go to Tekek/ABC which were reasonable and efficient at picking you up later for return leg to hotel.

Breakfast was decent but other food was not & expensive. We used to take extra cakes/pastries at breakfast and get pot noodles for lunch (kettle in room). Luckily Restoran Jeti Paya next door to resort does good value tasty dinner and cheap beer. We also went to Tioman Cabana in Tekek (walkable) and Sunset pizza in ABC (taxi) for dinner and recommend. Getting a great meal on the island is not easy but the rest of the island is idyllic so just be prepared for that!

Location is great. The coral reef is just a few meters from the beach. However the current is quite strong so kids need to be accompanied by an adult. We travelled with kids and had two connecting rooms. This worked perfectly. The rooms are quite big and spacious. We loved the balcony where we could sit an play card games in the evenings. Welcome sodas and beers in the fridge was a great surprise for everyone. The staff was really friendly and helpful if we had any questions. Lots of animals to look at and enjoy for both kids and adults. We took the boat out to Rengis island. The best snorkeling place. Here we saw sharks, Nemo, snakes and lots of color full fish and squids.

The restaurant was a bit funny. We never received what we ordered. Or we received what we ordered but it never matched the description in the menu and often parts of the ingredients were forgotten. We had quite a laugh about that. The pool area was great but we missed that the bar was open so you could buy a simple lunch when staying at the pool. We were often told that it would open but it never did before in the afternoon and then it only served drinks. It was a bit frustrating that we needed to dress up to go have a la carte lunch instead of staying at the pool and beach area not changing clothes all the time.
