The Mary Carmen Hotel is a charming small hotel in the downtown area on a pedestrian part of the 5th avenue. It was exactly what we were looking for: near restaurants, streets and boutiques to explore, walking distance from snorkeling areas like La Monina and Hemingway restaurant. It was very clean, the air conditioned worked well and wasn't noisy. It is central to go explore the north, south or east part of the island by taxi or car rental. Beach towels available at the front desk. Taxis at the corner of the street. Thanks to Miguel and all the staff for their dedication and smiles : )

It is not a critic, just for info for light sleepers. You can hear the ferry horn when they depart in the morning or people talking in the hotel middle patio but they usually didn't stay late.

Loved the location. I like to stay close to town and it was perfect for that: shopping, food, access to taxis, etc. It's great value for the money!

I had an upgraded room with kitchenette. This room faced the street, which is a walking/motorbike (for shop workers mainly), bike street. No cars. However, workers on the building across the street started at 6am, before sunrise, and that affected my sleep that early. Note this was only on the work week, not weekends. That part did affect the noise level. If I had been in the main hotel, where rooms are toward the back, I think I would've been fine as far as noise goes.

The location is perfect. Center of the main shopping district, restaurants and only one block from the beach. No vehicles on the street out front just pedestrian The staff always very helpful. Rooms are exceptionally clean an well maintained. great shower! Breakfasts were basic but very good; exceptional coffee and a sunny second level outside dining. love the pet turtles wandering the courtyard.

Band music from nearby club was a little annoying Friday and Saturday nights. Roosting pigeons cooing at night. Neither were a big concern for me. (shower floor very slippery; advise shower sandals

This little hotel has excellent location. Walking distance to everything needed. Very unique hotel. Is definitely a little charmer. Miguel at the front desk is very helpful and pleasant. You have meet the turtle family located in the lounging area. If you're looking for something different, this is the place.

Bathrooms need some attention, but when I was there, they were in the process of retiling the bathrooms.

common area kitchen well equipped to prepare meals, short walk to everything and quiet being on a pedestrian road. good snorkelling from shore, mostly rocky shore but easy access. Glad to see that there was still a decent mercado with locals selling produces in town and local colectivos transport way cheaper then taxis to reach far end of town. Rented a jeep for a day to go around the island a must do...

the lack of descent public transport to go around the island. Car rental and taxi must have something to do with that! prices in store and restaurant be aware of tourist traps one exemple noticed a bottle of tequila on Main Street stores was 4 time the price then if you buy at local groceries.

Perfect location super close to the ferry arrival, just behind the main square but quiet location at the same time

We chose this hotel also because of the nice rooms overlooking the beautiful inner courtyard however upon arrival we have been given probably the only room which didn't face the courtyard but faced the reception instead, with no daylight and not much privacy. After speaking with the staff we eventually managed to get the room next to it,which was in a bit better location.

The location is great, close to everything yet quiet at night. The beds were super comfortable and clean, everything is pretty and the staff was very friendly.

We were given a room near the reception on the ground floor so it was quite noisy at night when guests arrived late and early morning when people were leaving early, but other than that we absolutely loved it!

 hotel, Mari Carmen has a super location only two blocks from the ferry and on a pedestrian only street. It is close to many restaurants and there is a convenience store 1/2 block away. The hotel has very comfortable beds and linen. It is super clean and it feels like being in, an elegant museum. The hotel has a small kitchen that guests may use a nice little courtyard, comfortable sitting areas and there is always drinking water available. This hotel is a very very good value, at least during the off-season when we stayed here.

Nothing not to like. if you have trouble with stairs, get a room on the main floor.

Excellent location with in walking distance from the Ferry dock. The room was decent as described. Although all equipment was available, quality of utensils could be improved. Downtown area and main market was next to the Hotel.

The room given was on first floor with an entrance outside of the main hotel area , ie in the market area so did not get the feeling of belonging to the Hotel Bathroom floor was uneven with pooling of water.

great location right in the city centre - everythings near. the room is spacious, breakfast provided for 120$ (eggs by your choice, cereals, pancakes, fruit tea/coffe). cielo tour available for 850$ (standard 4h). free water provided

the window was oriented to the patio so you couldnt really vent the room, it was always a little humid, the beach towels never dried :D
