Loved this hotel, location excellent, room comfortable, very good modern bathroom with excellent walk-in shower. No restaurant but plenty nearby. Breakfast was the best of all the hotels we stayed in this trip.....and there were 10 of them. Served by charming friendly lady. Would stay again. Loved Shagen

Only downside was concern about entry as there is no reception. Difficulty picking up internet on foreign mobile but was talked through entry procedures.....which worked.

Quirky building and check-in was unusual which initially made me nervous, but it couldn't have been slicker - much slicker than checking in via a receptionist. Breakfast was nice and enough to start the day. Ambience in dining hall was amazing. Presentation skills for the breakfast were great. Hostess was very pleasant and helpful. The only reason I didn't give full marks for staff and facilities was because we only had that 1 contact with staff which was faultless and there are no facilities (i.e. gym, pool bar, social area) - however you are so close to the town that the selection of bars and restaurants within 3 mins walk is more than enough to satisfy anyone. Thoroughly recommend as a base for a vacation as well as work.

Beautiful spot in a lovely town. Not so much an 'old castle' as a new, clean and modern take on and addition to a historic site. There was no staff present that we encountered: the digital key to open the doors was sent through email. Everything worked splendidly, but it was a bit strange not to be welcomed at all. This method is probably not for everyone, but a number was provided in case human interaction was required or requested.

The location was very central and close by shops and amenities. The breakfast was fresh, warm bread and croissants along with fresh fruit coffee tea and juice.

The check out time compared to other hotels we have stayed in was very early. Normally its around 11:00 in other hotels so we found that 10:00 was a bit too early.

We had booked a dinner in the Schagen city center and needed somewhere to stay. With a simple but nicely decorated room, enjoyable breakfast and only 5 minute walk to our dinner destination it was perfect. In the morning they were a bit busy getting ready for a wedding but the staff still took care to serve us the breakfast while busy. The building also has nice character.

Nice location, there are many free parking places within 2 mins walking distance. the room is very comfortable and quiet! The staff are very friendly.

Lovely building, quiet, comfortable, good sized bathroom and room. Nice setting. Self check in but the staff replied straight away to an email question. The staff in the morning were very pleasant.

A very helpful lady helped us when we arrived as we had not notice in the booking that there's no reception and we came few minutes before two o'clock. This was our mistake not wearing our best reading glasses!

lovely castle type property. we have a big room on the top floor. was a bit dated with the pink room Colour but nice place to stay. love you can unlock the room with your phone but if you do not have access to the internet on your phone or not  tech savvy may be a problem.

The hotel is very well managed. It totally beats the renowned brands with a high quality furniture and personal touch. I liked the small details like that the fact that they use real nespresso capsules, not the cheap ones used in very prominent chains. In such a small hotel was a pleasant surprise to find an elevator. Another great feature is the small fridge in the room, which proved very handy with restaurants closing at 17:00 due to Covid measures in Netherlands.

They could put some soft material on the bathroom doors. They might be noisy when people slam them. Still, I liked that there is a shower in the bathroom rather than a bath tube.
