The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Everything was clean. We appreciated the little extras like the welcoming chocolate fish, the Xmas themed glasses, and the nespresso machine and pods. The location was good for access to town.

The unit faced into the afternoon sun and got extremely hot in the 30 degree temperatures, so we had to keep the curtains drawn during the day, which helped a little but not a lot. The nights were also hot, and the old and noisy aircon unit was very ineffective, it needs updating.

Despite the weather being cold and raining on our arrival we really enjoyed our stay here at the Colonial Motel. We were presented with a warm welcome by the friendly motel manager and also given the best spot upstairs with a little patio and fantastic views towards the stunning ranges from our bedroom window. We were given a good size little bottle of milk which you don't always get at some stays, the room was nice and spacious with great heating, good shower pressure, and all the basic essentials we needed which suited our two day stay. :-)

Unfortunately to note a couple of things was the tiny shower cubicle. Not much room to move and wouldn't be ideal for a bigger person to use. The other thing to note was the vigorous shaking of our bed and the room each time a truck or heavy vehicle drive past the motel. First night freaked us out as we thought it was an earthquake. Other note is laundrymat downstairs by our bathroom and kitchen side often had noisy people using it and could hear domestics, kids crying often and car doors slamming or revving off. A little noisy if your bathroom or kitchen window is open.

Great place to stay. Has everything you need when traveling. Clean, comfortable and the beds which are extremely important when traveling were superb. Well equipped kitchen and laundry. The location so close to the town is awesome. The best fish and chips shop in Blenheim is right next door, dairy, fast food outlets and supermarket all within easy walking distance as is the town centre. Facilities are important but what makes a stay is the customer service. You couldn't do any better than here. Was traveling with my mum who sustained an injury and was discharged from hospital well before check in time. I called Simon and it was not a problem at all for us to check in early. He and his wife Nicola were extremely warm, friendly and caring, exactly what you hope for when traveling in particular when you've had a minor catastrophe far from home. They're a shining example of people of regional NZ who are a cut above their busy, big city counterparts. Well done and thank you Simon and Nicola, you make me proud to be a Kiwi. I also love, love, loved the locally made soaps etc made using natural, local ingredients. Definitely a big positive for me because I don't like chemicals. That was a really nice touch.

Beautifully clean. Very comfy bed. Lot's of personal touches. Generous quantities of deliciously scented bathroom toiletries 😊 Kitchenette adequate size with good quality accessories including an espresso machine! Upstairs unit 9 at the end was bright & airy. Very quiet ceiling fan. Outside balcony table & chairs to sit in the sun for breakfast 🌞 Has a wee pool for a dip.. 1m deep only..but nice to cool off in. Friendly & helpful reception from Peter.

Not much to not like! The shower was very small, larger would have been nicer. Also a movable shower head would have been good. Some noise from the main road.

I had room 12, I believe, and I rather enjoyed it. It would make a nice apartment, if only for 1 "small" unavoidable thing. It's on the second floor near the office. Oh, that's not the little thing. The steps up were fine. I wouldn't mind staying there again if I get the chance.

The "small" thing is the shower. It's not very big. I'm sure the others are fine. That's really the only negative I had.

Very welcoming staff, run by a lovely family. We traveled with a 4 month old and the room was perfect with plenty of space and everything we needed including portacot and baby bath to use. Very comfortable beds and great facilities including young children's play area outside, and the pool we wish we had of had time to use. Thanks for our stay!

Simon is an excellent host with a wealth of stories and tips for your time in Blenheim. The apartments are spacious and very well appointed with everything you need for self catering as well as quality products in the bathroom. Blenheim town centre is a short walk away along the Taylor river path.

The motel is next to the main road which can be busy at times, otherwise all good.

Fantastic host. Awesome location. This place has everything available for your use. Simon gave us whatever we needed to clean our gear after doing the Queen Charlotte walk. The room was spacious and well equipped. The facilities were incredible. Easy to walk to town and New World is just up the road. And the coffee cart was an added bonus. I can't recommend this property enough. Thank you so much for making our stay so special

We had a 3 bedroomed apartment for our stay. The rooms were a great size and there was a good sized kitchen and lounge area. The property was clean and the hosts were great. They have recently taken over the business. They were around and happy to speak and give advice or help when things were not working. (our tv needed to be reset). Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed here as a base to explore the wineries so it was a good base. There was a lovely restaurant called Gramado's a 2 minute walk away from the hotel that had a good menu and lovely wines.

The hotel is situated on the main road -SH1 and the apartment we had was on the side of the building so we experienced a great deal of traffic noise and building shuddering as big trucks thundered past at all times of the night. The windows had to be closed at night but it didn't help much with the noise. There was only one bathroom in the apartment and for a 3 bed it would have been good to have an additional toilet.

The hosts here were exceptional and went out of their way to accommodate us. Especially at 5.30 on a Saturday when we needed to change the double bed to two single beds. We also needed some extra crockery and cutlery and this was supplied with with a smile and a request whether or not we required anything else. Our rooms and the living area were great and very comfortable.

A fan in the bathroom would be the only thing missing.
