The resort is secluded and quiet while boasting a beautiful green scenery upon entering. My partner and I stayed in a studio which is conveniently situated next to the spa, sauna, pool and river for kayaking. Must try the kayaking. Our host Brad spent a lot of time and effort into welcoming us and making sure we were comfortable with our accomodation and the facilities available. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful; they pointed us locations around the area to visit as well as going the extra mile to prepare a nice gift for us since it was our 3 year anniversary.

Nothing to dislike.

The accommodation is located close to all the amenities but feels secluded and away from the busy main road. It is nestled on the side of a hill surrounded by native trees and plants. The accommodation is spacious. The cooking facilities inside allow you to cook or take your food down to the communal bbq area by the pool. Everything from the beds to the decor is quality. Although a minor thing, the soap dispenser in the bathroom did not work. But within a short time it was replaced with a new one.

The potholes. But actually not that much of a bother it really makes you slow down and watch out for the ducks. It is a narrow driveway and at some bends of you have to be careful. Being cautious is not a big ask!

Nice and secluded lodge down a hill surrounded by nature. Nice natural pool and lovely deck to sit and enjoy your surroundings. Kerikeri bakehouse at the top of the drive was awesome. Great pies and numerous bakery delights. Good coffee. Family was able to just chill out after big day trips to nearby beautiful locations like rainbow falls.

Dishwasher probably needs some maintenance and a few more dishes could be provided...but we don't mind washing by hand so this wasn't really a big deal. Awesome place I would highly recommend it.

The room was absolutely gorgeous! I personally loved the interior. The bed was tall and comfy. The property itself is beautiful with many ponds and walkways and ducks everywhere. They also have a cat on the property which we loved. There was a natural pool, spa and sauna on site which all looked well maintained but we unfortunately didn't have the time to unwind. The location was quite central and the owner gave us dinner recommendations which we really appreciated. We're already making plans to return!

Getting in and out took a while as the property itself is huge and the roads are a bit narrow. We didn't mind it during the day cus the view was amazing but I was slightly anxious driving there in the dark.

The cottages have enough space between them to create your own place in Keriketi vibe. The bed was large, comfortable and the sheets were crisp and clean. We enjoyed the free spa and were able to bbq our dinner afterwards. Theres is a sauna as well. A great feature was the heat lamp in the bathroom which was great for children in the winter. Avalon has a natural spring feeding its pool which is a natural waterhole and fabulous. The drinking water was great! , You will hear the Ducks, the friendly Hens and Tuis singing (native NZ bird) in the morning while you sit on the deck watching the sunlight on the pond outside. Scenic, peaceful and totally recommended.

Nothing I didnt like.

What’s not to like about this lovely property…… The owner was super helpful for the recommendations for local restaurants and activities. Our own bungalow with an upgrade. Feeding the chickens and ducks that are on site each morning, became a usual routine which was thoroughly enjoyable. Set among bush/amazing gardens with a couple of ponds, although we didn’t use the facilities down by the office ( spa, plunge pool, sauna, laundry…. Definitely would return if up in the bay of islands again

Only possible negative point, the rooms/bungalows weren’t serviced daily. We stayed for a week and had to ask for the room to be serviced…

This property was a complete surprise to us as we wended our way down a long pretty country driveway passing palm trees and ponds until we got to the cottages! So lovely! The cottages themselves were very comfortable and well equipped with a lovely deck overlooking the beautiful countryside. It was quiet and peaceful and I couldn’t believe we were but a stones throw from Kerikeri village! The very kind owner also showed us the newly refurbished studio units which were beautiful! There was a spa pool and a sauna and a swimming pool that was fashioned to look like a natural pond! All in all we loved it and will definitely be back!

There was nothing we didn’t like about this property.

Brad was super amazing, upgraded us to cottage from a King Studio...was awesome... Tucked away in your own lil private paradise during winter. Had a heat pump, electric blankets, view of the water ducks..close to everything you need....Everything there Sauna, Spa Pool... Will definitely be back with our grandbabies, they will absolutely love it

The access road was a lil tight...but we were ok..better suited for small vehicles (we took our Ute 4WD)

I was afraid it wouldn’t live up to other peoples write ups but it did! Beautiful spot, great cabin, super host. It was too early in the year for a swim but the grounds including the pool were beautiful. I would totally recommend this place to anyone staying in Kerikeri. It is that good. I would also recommend the bakery at the top,of the driveway for breakfasts/lunches. Pies are to die for as it the Eggs Benedict. We stayed an extra day because the area and Avalon was that good.

Nothing. It was great!

Avalon Resort is set off the road and you really wouldn't know you were in a fairly busy area, it was lovely. Beautifully landscaped gardens, Mike is a very obliging host and the rooms have all you need.

If I were to be very picky I'd say the bathroom was approaching the time it will need a freshen up - but it was clean and functional (brilliant water flow!). I couldn’t mark down for this as all the 'extra' things discovered far outweigh this minor observation.
