We had a 3 bedroom studio. It was surprisingly roomy and modern, without feeling too so and everything needed to be comfortable.Great having 2 bathrooms. Nice continental breakfast.loved opening windows, dishwasher, wash machine and dryer. Lots of seating. Very comfy. We appreciate finding a 3 room unit for out family.
3rd room very small with no lamp, had to get up to turn off light.extra lamps in all rooms would be good. The entrance door kept jamming felt locked and needed force to open.Kids tried and left on several ocassions. Ensuite bathroom needed better clean on floor and extras in cupboard not appreciated (syringes some used and bloodstained cord) family was quite horrified. Hope they were disposed of appropriately. Some latches need screwed in better or replaced. Nice comfy sofa but could do with clean. We were happy but others might not be.

Location, location, location and at a great price. It an old building but this little hotel is in the middle of it all. Stones throw from Cuba and 5 minute walk to the waterfront. We had the van parked right in front of the entrance way but that does cost extra. Rooms are clean and fairly well cared for. Very quite for a city hotel except for when rowdy neighbors come in from a night of partying. Staff are very nice and accommodating.
The continental breakfast is not really worth the money and is pretty sparse. A slice of bread each, some butter and jams, a piece of fruit, always the same, and a small bag of muesli. Not really enough to get you going for the day.

We stayed in room 204. Three bedroom apartment. Absolutely brilliant for our needs. Spacious with a really good kitchen. Our rate included free breakfast which was more than adequate for our needs. It had a washer and dryer for clothes which we used and overall the apartment was big enough that we never felt cramped. Brilliant for Kids. Close to the university and basically pretty centrally located. About 10 minutes from the zoo so that was helpful. If you are looking for five star, this is not the place. It is a little bit rough around the edges and has some deferred maintenance. But it’s a quirky inner city apartment in an older converted building. To get to our apartment you do need to climb stairs. Perhaps an old warehouse? So bonus points for reuse of an old building. With a bit of attention It could really knock the socks off of most people. One of the interesting things that we discovered was that the fan switch for the main bathroom was actually located in the ensuite bathroom which was on the other side of the wall. Some of the lightbulbs could be replaced and an extra lamp or two for the bedrooms would be good. Really great sleep. Amazingly comfortable beds.
Parking on the street. Across the street directly is a paid parking lot which probably would be good if you were doing a long-term stay. You can pay a metre which is directly outside of the hotel. Alternatively Wellington City Council has an app that allows you to pay for parking remotely. That being said there’s only a two hour limit for the same space on the street.

We came back for second stay, so that says something. It works for us at a large family level. What it needs is some extra attention. In the two weeks between visits the ensuite door remained broken with handle missing. Same with window in the bedroom window. The place needs a deep clean as there is left over building dirt and stuff next to vanity and in most margins. The bedrooms are missing night stand lamps, with front room missing a lamp all together. Street bedroom with loft has loose power points. Our early review said the unit had great potential. It still does… it just needs some attention. Need the owners/managers to treat it as a residence rather than a cash cow room. It would not last a day without complaint if it was subject to residential tribunal rules. We arrived late after a ferry delay. Kids were thrilled to be back and to some place familiar. It is a spacious apartment that we would stay at again. The upside benefits outweigh the downside issues. This was most likely an intercity 3 bedroom apartment converted to hotel inventory. Certainly liveable. Beds are very comfortable and linen is clean and fresh. Supplied continental breakfast was waiting for us on arrival in the fridge, more that enough fro us to eat and enjoy.
On street parking. We never had a problem in our visits but always worried that I would get a parking ticket in the morning. Probably no worse than any other city so I shouldn’t complain.

had a very comfortable stay, facilities were great, and location was great as we were able to walk to restaurants and shops. we could have done with more teas, coffees and sugar as there was four of us were there, and they were not replaced for our next day stay. all in all it was a lovely place.
breakfast could have been better, we expected a proper breakfast but all we got was slices of bread, muesli, and yoghurt anf fruit. went to eat out instead.

Great location, nice room to be in and a lovely well thought out breakfast in the room. Staff were so kind and helpful too.
Unfortunately the people staying in one of the rooms sharing the bathroom facilities didn’t have the best manners but that’s not U Boutiques fault. Showering with strangers pants and other items strewn around the bathroom wasn’t great, neither was the gross state they left the toilet in this morning. The poor cleaners that have to deal with those types of guests.

The hotel room. The location was exceptional and close to everything. They provided us with a map of the city, which was very helpful. The bathroom and toilets were clean, and the bed was properly made.
Possibly the location, what I mean is that the hotel was a little bit difficult to find as it was hidden within a narrow, dark pathway. Besides that, its location was excellent as it was close to all the restaurants and a 10-minute walk to the city's main centre.

I’ve stayed at three different rooms at this place so know what to expect. The rooms on the ground level wirh shared bathroom, room ten is way more spacious but can be noisy from the adjacent laundry. Issues with mould and damp in bathroom have now been sorted from a year ago. It is a good price for one night in Wellington if you need to be close to upper Tory and Cuba St. Hot tip: you can park in coupon parks in Mt Vic a ten min walk away between 6pm to 10am. I would recommend this place if you’re looking for somewhere that is a bit nicer than a hostel but it is no longer that original boutique setup it was pre covid
The front door didn’t seem to be locked at any point this trip, with the ground floor bedrooms this means the shared bathroom would be accessible all evening. I had asked about a car park and had no response. All the messages felt automated.

Second stay at U Boutique. Once again, lovely staff and a unique private spa and large balcony in Wellington city! Great location and very clean.
The bed desperately needs replacing - the mattress has completely sagged on one edge where everyone sits - this made sleeping difficult as it slumped towards the floor. Quickly and cheaply fixed, and essential for the King Spa room to be a five star experience.

Good location (10-15 minute walk from the center and other pooular areas). Spacious parking on the other sode of the street. Got checked in much earlier than scheduled. Breakfast may noot look like much on the pictures, but is actually quite nice with a lot of things.
Bathroom (private) in a separate room is slightly inconvenient, having to always go through two doors that are locked.
