wide range of good foods for breakfast sets you up for the day. Dinner changes nightly and we had some good local produce done well, which is definitely what we were hoping for. Many of the staff were really good, very friendly, thoughtful and kind. Sitting by the log fire was really nice. Kids loved the husky hot chocolate. The sauna and steam room were not busy, clean and very nice to have after a day's skiing. Great to have a table tennis room and gym also. Views over to the mountains and slopes were wonderful. Rooms clean, cozy and beds were dreamily soft. Bathrooms nice and clean also and housekeeping very good. NYE fireworks and sparklers were fun. The location is great - 5 minutes walk from the station that really made the whole holiday a walkable thing. It's a pleasant but longer walk to Vestlia but there's also the ski bus shuttle running fairly frequently. Getting the Olso - Bergen train was a really nice feature of the holiday. Great how the hotel has been modernised but retained boutique character and relevance to its place and history.

maybe espresso drinks offered although the free pour filter coffee was itself very decent - much better than "conference coffee" in US/other European hotels the bar staffed a little more attentively (reckon maybe there was a lot of revenue not made in Christmas to New Year) wifi was free and importantly connection also simple. sometimes patchy in the rooms but fine really throughout. I had to work during vacation and it was no issue.

The room was comfortable and the hotel had charm with comfy places to sit and visit with friends. Interesting decor with many antiques. It was a good location and would be particularly nice to watching skiing from the nearby mountains.

The breakfast was average compared to other places in Norway. There were not enough trained staff to keep up with the breakfast crowd. Both coffee makers were empty, dishes were not cleared from tables and food replenished. Having extra staff in the dining area would have been better. The woman working was friendly and doing the best she could!

Brilliant location - 5 minutes walk from the main town and train station. Extremely helpful and accommodating staff. Nice warm room with beautiful views. Fantastic breakfast.

We hadn't realised there was no kettle or coffee maker available in the room, and only realised on the last day we could have filled a thermos of hot water (free) or coffee (45nok) from the restaurant each day. Limited choices for dinner at the hotel restaurant although there are several restaurants within close walking distance. The beds are singles which are pushed together which was fine but less comfortable than a double or king bed.

We loved this historical hotel. Everything inside looked so cosy and warm also a little smoking area outside. But best impression made reception lady. She was super helpful with Everything and she smiled. My first night I had fever and she provide extra douvet without any problems. Breakfast was good enough. We really liked the posibility to make own wafles. They were super delicious. The room was without mistake. Housekeeping is doing excelent work.

Everything was perfect. We will come back for sure.

The breakfast was excellent although my partner who had the hot option every morning told me that the plate was cold and the 'hot' option was only mildly warm. This could easily be addressed but overall the breakfast was varied and very enjoyable and the breakfast room warm and inviting. The staff in the dining area were particularly good ( and this included in the evening). The bedroom was spacious, warm and cosy, and also very clean. The ski bus stops just outside the front door, and the hotel is walking distance to the train station, a valuable point when arriving and departing.

The log fire remained unlit the whole week we were there. This was a big disappointment. The sitting and bar area completely lacks ambience. I don't know if it is ever lit. We were told there was a problem with the chimney. The evening dinner menu is extremely limited. We each had the salmon one night which was excellent. We had the vegetable lasagne another evening which had been re-heated and was poor. We had the impression that the hotel was not very keen to have evening diners. The hotel could be fantastic if it got the fire working and always had it on, and also if the evening dinner menu was bigger and more inviting.

I had plans to travel between Bergen and Oslo by train and decided to break up the journey with an overnight in Geilo, expecting to have a lovely hiking break in the middle of the 7-hour train ride... Unfortunately, Storm Hans hit and it was not ideal conditions for hiking (!) and quite a few people staying at the hotel (myself included) ended up temporarily stranded due to the flooding. A *massive* thanks to the hotel staff for letting travellers like me stay inside during the day whilst figuring out/waiting for our alternative travel arrangements. It also sounded like the staff were doing their utmost to accommodate people who needed to stay an extra night or two in Geilo - I'm sure there are a lot of very grateful people!

Nice beds, relatively new bathroom, diner in restaurant was ok, breakfast was nice.

We would have liked to have had a water-cooker in the room to make coffee or tea. There was free coffee in the restaurant, but it would have been nicer in our room. The trains passing by our room were quite noisy, although they didn’t keep us awake. The carpet in the room looked quite old and was not super clean. Some more choices on the dinner menu would be nice.

The common areas are cozy. The room comfortable. Great location and easy access to train station and shopping options/supermarkets.

The wellness area could be improved a bit and made more cozy. More healthy and vegetarian food options would also be nice for the breakfast serving and the restaurant at night.

Beautiful decor inside, rustic and full of artefacts with inviting corners with comfy armchairs . Breakfast was great with a good choice and fresh food. Dinner was lovely but the service was quite slow. Long wait between seating and being served but the food was great. Being a diabetic I asked if it was possible to get green vegetables instead of potatoes. My wish was not only granted but the portions were enormous. Lovely food. All in all great value for money .

Music at breakfast time was a bit loud. Silence is better sometimes :) but it's only a small detail.

The breakfast was quite nice, and the location was super convenient with the shuttle busses to the ski lifts. Staff was kind, and we didn't have any problem at our stay, helping us find where the bus stops to go to the ski lifts.

The Wi-Fi was sadly a bit flaky at times, with disconnections being frequent, and even when connected, the speed and reliability was a bit lacking. Would also have been nice to have a small fridge in the room.
