It was a quite magical place and surroundings. Nothing could be faulted . Magnificently restored, homely and cosy on large scale and like stepping back centuries but with mod cons. Our deluxe double with balcony and mountain view was comfortable with a huge bed. Our evening dinner was delicious, beautifully presented and the chef even gave us a taster of his special mushroom icecream dessert....yes, really... and have to say it was divine. Breakfast was equally good with a great variety of cereals, cheeses & meats and hot choices. Lots of preserves and even a honeycomb to scrape for your toast The staff were lovely, friendly, chatty & helpful. Lovely walks and views . Highly recommend for a tranquil stay.

Very comfortable well appointed room, beautiful view northwards. Beautifully thought out common sitting areas in the historic part of the building (a convent), subtle background music, right temperature. Breakfast was exceptionally good and varied. Staff on reception and restaurant/bar always attentive and helpful.

Little to be critical about. I have a Pestana and Pousadas card which I presented, which in the past would have meant something in the Pousada/Pestana world but despite being labelled a Pousada and on the cards being listed as Pestana, there were no significant benefits (other than 5% off in the main restaurant). Apparently this Pousada is a franchise which has been in a family for around 20+ years. This did not detract from the stay and I would be happy to recommend it to anyone who has transport to get there.

Hidden in the hills across medieval town of Belmonte, Pousada is a combination of history and luxury. It offers beautiful views of the valley, patches of old stones, and luxuriously comfortable rooms. The dinning, featuring local cuisine from a renown chief, is exceptional and worthy of its own review. Breakfast is at the buffet. The Pousada grounds are crossed by Serra Da Estrela trails (PR1 BMT) which will take you to the archaeological sites if you go south, or to Belmonte if you go north. The map and the trailhead are next to the Pousada gate. It was lovely to return to the comfort of the Pousada after a day of hiking or exploring old Belmonte. Visiting from US, being able to enjoy such luxury felt like a gift.

The room was gorgeous ,the balcony had breathtaking views and was one of the most beautiful places we ever stayed. The furnishing was out of a magazine. The surrounding area around the hotel were equally beautiful with many interesting corners and settings.The staff were extremely pleasant helpful and accommodating.

The only issue for me was that there was no walk-in shower. I walk with a cane due to balance issues and the bathtub was very difficult for those who are older or have slight limitations it created a problem. Also the hotel does not have an elevator but the staff changed my room as soon as I arrived as stairs would have been dangerous for me. Truthfully I loved the place so much I could overlook it .One has to know their own limitations.

wonderful peaceful and quiet location and a really imaginative adaptation of an old Monastery en route to the Serra Estrella by motorcycle. Great meal, lovely waiting staff and exceptional own wine and atmospheric lounges in the former ancient buildings and lovely dining room with terraces overlooking the valley. Our room was on the lower level and was well appointed with a lovely sunny balcony above a gorgeous wild garden thrumming with nature.

Sadly (it was early in the season and we arrived with a couple of hours notice, as we tend to do)) our room smelt of damp and the bed had not been aired and was also damp. Such a shame that no one had checked it before our arrival. We had to get a second key to leave the power on while we went for supper above, leaving the heating on full blast to try and rectify things. I'm sure this wouldn't have happened later in the season when the weather has warmed up but it really did spoil our stay.

We loved the look and feel of the Convento, the stone walls and windows are lovely but the location does not lend itself to the building, the bathroom is quite dated and to get into the shower ( which is a shower above a bath ) is quite tricky. Meals were great and service was very good.

The shower above the bath is really tricky to get into and actually quite dangerous, the location isn’t nice but the views make up for that.

This place exceeded expectations. We've stayed in a number of Pousadas in Spain and Portugal and while they are full of atmosphere, they are usually tired and in need of some TLC. I was reluctant to book another one, but this place was in such a great location and got great reviews, so we decided to stay here. It was lovely. The room was huge, nicely decorated, up-to-date, clean and we had a private patio with a great view of a most beautiful valley. We ate at the restaurant that night and it was just fabulous. I don't think I've ever eaten such a tender steak. One of the better meals on our 25-day trip to Portugal. Ample, easy parking. Great location. Great little town.

Something about the restaurant. They showed us a huge basket of a variety of delicious looking breads and asked if we'd like some. We said yes, and they proceeded to dole out one tiny little piece of bread about the size of a walnut. Really! We had a good laugh later about that.

Beautiful view from the suite terrace. My daughters room and mother in laws room was also very comfortable, with a lovely terrace. The restaurant was expensive but very good quality, and we enjoyed every mouthful. You need to get the car to visit the village of Belmonte. There was a wonderful peaceful atmosphere and we would love to return. . The mushroom theme was very cute and the different salons were delightful.

We were in the suite, which is on 3 levels..the bathroom on the lower level, a sitting room with the door to the terrace on the second, and the bedroom on the 3rd. I found going up and down the stairs at night rather annoying, and if this is a problem for you too, maybe the suite is not the best choice. The breakfast was delicious. Staff were very helpful.

The hotel is a hidden gem. Super nice location, has a view to the valley. Excellent facilities, friendly, welcoming staff. The swimming pool is great, we loved that towels were provided as well.

The quality of the breakfast was not bad, but was far away from the quality of everything else in the hotel. Some examples how to improve it: provide vegetables (tomatoes, peppers, cucumber..), mustard and ketchup for the sausages, milk varieties, hot milk.

Everything: The location (quiet, with a stunning view to the valley below and to the night sky, yet only 3 minutes away from Belmonte), the brilliant arquitecture and furniture (perfectly mixing the old and the new), the wonderful swimming pool, the superior quality of the service and the kindness of the staff.

Details; the shower was poor (considering the quality of the room and of the rest of the facilities) and the curtains allowed too much light in the room in the morning. Otherwise, everything was perfect.
