Sleek room, very comfortable bed, friendly staff, and great breakfast!

The room had motion sensor lights at the foot of the bed that kept turning on all night when my wife or I would move. We didn't know how to turn them off and they woke me up a bunch of times.

Great location; Free parking for a car; Water fill up station in the hallway; Nice breakfast; Beautiful and comfy pool area; Good air conditioning in the rooms; Helpful staff.

Just so you know that all balconies in the hotel are like 50 cm wide, where you can step out and look around. And that's it. Not real balconies. I saw one customer's review about quite expensive drinks in the bar. I don't mind paying a bit more for a drink in a nice place. Anyway, we ordered 2 Ponchas in the bar, and paid 17€. Anywhere in the dowtown you pay up to 3,5 euros for one Poncha. I'll let you do the math.

Property is very well located near the centre of Funchal, much nearer than most of the other 4/5 star hotels in the hotel zone which are both further away and typical up a few steep hills. It had excellent amenities such as great restaurant, pool, spa treatments and attentive staff. Breakfast buffet was top notch. We were also upgraded to a Junior Suite. The hotel itself backs onto a shopping centre, which proved extremely useful for picking up last minute holiday bits (sun cream, socks, pharmacy etc)

Some parts of the hotel were showing their age; bed creaking, USB ports not working. But very minor as we had a great week and slept well. Our room sadly didn’t face the sea, but given the very hot weather this wasn’t an issue.

This hotel is wonderful. It was the second time I stayed in this hotel and it was as amazing as I remembered it. The rooftop pool is wonderful. Staff are very attentive. Most of them remembered our breakfast and drinks choices. The lighting system in the room was a bit complicated and we had we technical issues but each time we had a problem staff reacted super quickly.

Everything was so modern and clean and all the staff were incredibly friendly. The rooftop bar/pool area was amazing and it was in SUCH a good location. As a solo traveller, I felt very safe in this hotel and well looked after. Absolutely loved staying here and would recommend it to anyone.

There were no sockets near the bed which was annoying but I made do. Slightly pricey but for the location and facilities, it's worth the money

This place is seriously impressive with a modern and stylish vibe, and it really feels like they’ve thought of everything. The rooms and decor are stunning, but what really stood out was the staff. From reception to the restaurant team and housekeeping, everyone went out of their way to make sure we were looked after. On top of that, the location couldn’t be better. It’s smack in the new town, just a few minutes’ walk to the marina and coast, and only 10 minutes from the old town. You’re right in the middle of everything, which makes it so easy to get around and enjoy the area. Top marks all around!

The pool could be bigger. Also isn't heated.

The ambience and 'feel' of the hotel was very good. All the staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was generally very good and the UVA restaurant was excellent. The room we were given was very comfortable. The roof terrace and pool were lovely.

There were a couple of snags in our room - the door stop came out, the hand-held shower was not well fitted and our empty tissues and bathroom accessories were not replaced when they were empty until we made it obvious. Our view was poor. These did not detract much from our overall positive impression.

- Excellent location, very clean & things were in good condition. -The rooftop is really great - a lovely space to be in, comfy cushions on the sunbeds. - Liked that the bar here served food til 10pm, as we checked in very late on first night. - Service was so nice all the time - friendly, professional & timely. - Really good idea to have water fountain, for still and sparkling, on every floor so you can refill your own bottle. - Liked that it was free to use the steam room & jacuzzi pool in the spa area. - Really appreciated that we got a free upgrade. - While we were there, a new 'robot' waiter arrived, for helping to clear tables, & it was fun for staff & guests to figure out how it worked!

- Didn't like being charged €5 room service, to deliver a bucket of ice & 2 champagne glasses to our room. - Didn't like that the water glasses in our room were not changed every day, if there was some water left in them. - Didn't like that the refillable bottle for water was previously used (i.e. it was unsealed when we first used it) Who knows if a previous guest was drinking from the bottle or not! - Didn't like that you had to go to reception every time to get a pool, spa or gym towel, & that you had to go back there to change it! You should be able to do this in those areas, once you have your towel token. No towel, no token is perfectly fine, but not having to return to reception every time.

Hotel is well located in town - about a 15 walk mins from the old town - but close to the harbour. It's above a shopping centre, with cashpoints and a few useful shops including a supermarket. The breakfast was a lovely buffet, with seating available on the terrace, and a cute robot cleaner.

The bathroom set up was unusual - a glass panel between bed and bathroom (including bath and sinks) with shower and toilet in separate cubicles. It lent little privacy! Perhaps should have paid closer attention to the hotel photos!

The vine was a lovely stay for a week!! We booked in advance on Booking.com and so got for a reasonable price. Location, staff and facilities were all amazing. They couldn’t have done enough for us. We were told on arrival that unfortunately the top pool wasn’t working so we would need to go to another hotel to use the pool facilities, at first I was really dissapointed however the hotel upgraded us to a junior suite to compensate, and ran taxis for free to and from the vine to the neighbouring hotel and the hotel with the pool was amazing and just as good if not better than the vines so we had no issue with doing this on sunny days. Honestly would stay again, has a great city vibe and lovely lovely staff that go above and beyond. It was the first holiday I have been on in years that was smooth and comfortable from start to finish. No complaints!
