Amalia is a hotel chain in Greece. The hotel in Olympia was certainly once one of the flagships. But that was forty or fifty years ago. Nevertheless, everything is very well maintained. The architecture is spacious and there is a huge, very cold pool. But you can't overlook the fact that the hotel urgently needs a thorough renovation. The staff were extremely friendly. The breakfast corresponds to the quality of the hotel, which is mainly used by coaches from 5 pm. The buses also leave again between 7 and 8, which is when it gets noisy in the corridors. You can walk to the ancient part or drive a few minutes by car and park there free of charge.

The staff at the reception and the restaurant were very kind, polite, and attentive. The rooms are big, spacious and very clean. The location is very close to the archaeological site of ancient Olympia.

The hotel is very old and the rooms especially need an upgrade. The hotel is mostly used by big groups coming on tours/excursions. The food at the restaurant, both for dinner and breakfast, was very low quality. Dinner food was tasteless, and it was like re-heated food from the day before. It is better to find a dining option outside the hotel. Breakfast was just OK, but nothing special. The toilet in the room smelled a lot like cigarrete in the morning, probably from someone smoking in an adjacent room. Overall, it is a hotel to spend the night and move on with your itinerary, but I would not spend my holidays here.

This hotel far exceeded our expectations for the price! It was a large hotel, with fantastic facilities. The staff were so welcoming and helpful. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom large and very modern - with excellent shower pressure! Breakfast had a great variety and the pool was also great. This hotel is perfect for families - we travelled with a toddler - and we loved the grassy areas and beautiful trees surrounding the restaurant and pool. The hotel is close to Archaia Olympia and the exploration we did at the ancient site. A short drive to the main streets with lovely little shops and restaurants. Highly recommend this hotel - it was fantastic value for money!

Nothing!

Room was comfy and clean. Bathroom with tub was great. Nice Breakfast buffet had everything and gardens beautiful. Very close to town and ancient site ...felt like you're away in a lux resort in mountains.. good for short 2-3 day stay.

Needs makeover! Hotel looks good but room dark and dated.. old furniture. Old Elevator needs replacing.. The swimming pool is gorgeous but also needs makeover- there's a weird chained off area in front of pool.. you wonder what it's all about, and steps inside pool are treacherous (painted same all white as bottom and not visible).. also in the 2+ hours we spent poolside, there was no service whatsoever!

A big old hotel that performs perfectly! I say old because you can find many details from older hotels there is a telephone in the bathroom....This doesn't ruin your stay it just makes you laugh. They had the most comfortable (a pretty ) robes. The reception was friendly and helpful and very efficient. We got a free upgrade without even asking for it. We received a full size bottle of wine complimentary, and we only stayed one night! We didn't try the buffet dinner, but the breakfast buffet had great variety. You could tell by the very polite and professional staff that we met at breakfast ,cleaning the rooms ... that this hotel is run well and their staff takes pride in their work.

Can't think of anything,

Very unique hotel in a beautiful landscape. The rooms are old, but super well maintained so I would call it retro and we loved it! Rooms were very quiet. The pool area outside was very nice. Enough, free parking spots. Everyone was very nice and the staff seemed to love their jobs. We stayed one night because we thought it’s a cheap hotel, but we could have easily spend a week in this hotel and the area. Location is perfect! Many restaurants in the city nearby, but I think you have to take the car.

Breakfast could be better.

Very spacious hotel, different from most in Greece. It felt like being in a museum or a palace. Super elegant and comfortable, the room and balcony very big too. You know when you look at pictures and room seems bigger than it is, in this case everything is bigger than it looks, A bottle of red wine waiting in the room that you can envoy on the balcony, nice touch. Beautifull gardens, big pool, pool towels available. Staff VERY VERY nice, the receptionist handed me an anti-mosquito spray when I wondered if there were any. Superb breakfast, lots of options, freshly squeezed orange juice.

The hotel seems designed for large tour groups, but we felt very welcome as a couple. They accommodated our request for a top floor room that was lovely and roomy, the pool inviting and a great way to end the afternoon tour of ancient Olympia. It was nice to be only 10 minutes from the town and feel so delightfully remote. The bed was perfect. We didn’t get to the breakfast til near closing, but they treated us as if we owned the hotel. The breakfast was a huge buffet topped by the best extra strong cappuccino around.

Well, let’s see. They didn’t carry us around in a sedan chair, I guess.

The hotel is situated a little bit outside the village around the archaeological site, in a quiet location. The staff is superfriendly and go out of their way to be of service (at reception, breakfast, in the bar). When we were there a forest fire broke out close to the hotel (which can happen everywhere in the Mediterranean in summer) and when the staff saw my son was scared, they offered help and did everything to put him at ease. This really makes all the difference! As for the rest, the room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was a nice spread, there is really something for everyone! The pool was really nice too, with a more shallow part for children (1.25 m I think), clean and with lounge beds all around.

Fantastic spacious stylish common areas. It has been ages I have been to such an uplifting lobby area. The room was a spacious - had a double bed and a bed for our kid and we had plenty of room to move around and store our suitcases. The room decor is a little dated but it did not bother us. The bathroom was new and spotless clean! The pool was great and the gardens was fabulous! They have their own well to water the plants which explains why the grounds are so luscious. The buffet breakfast had local pies, cheeses, desserts plus the western food. We also had dinner in the evening which was equally generous and tasty. They had home cooked Greek food plus dishes for international tastes. The staff were the best asset of the hotel. Unlike other places, they were happy to work there, chatted with the guests and wanted to help us have a great time. They also had staff of all ages, which is unusual but shows that they care for their people.

We loved it and hope to return and see the other sites near Ancient Olympia. We also took the leaflets of their other hotels (all near historical locations) and we plan to go this chain's hotels when we visit Meteora, Preveza and Delphi!
