The hotel is very elegant and has a great feel to it. The staff could not have been more helpful - particularly the Manager. The room was delightful - beautifully decorated and furnished with a four poster bed and a sofa. The room looked out over the High Street, although it was very well sound-proofed and we slept very well. The room had beautiful traditional windows which made the room lovely and light in the daytime, with shutters and good curtains to provide blackout, The bed was OK. The bathroom and shower were great. Breakfast was delicious, freshly prepared and there was plenty of choice. The evening meal was good - again freshly prepared and tasty. I would have liked slightly more choice on the evening menu.

I am struggling to think what that would be. The only very minor thing was there were plenty of small bottles of Molton Brown shampoo, conditioner and body lotion but no shower gel. I prefer a pocket sprung mattress but that is a personal thing.

Beautifully appointed coaching inn. The interior is so homely and the designer has a real eye for detail. The carafe of drinking water, free snacks, along with a really cosy bedroom, and extremely comfortable bed made for a good nights stay. The room was very warm, you can open the window but the traffic noise can be a bit much. I stayed in a high street facing room. Thankfully I sleep with ear plugs, so didn’t bother me. The building is very quirky, a little like the staff. Everyone was helpful and welcoming. We stayed for dinner and the food and wine were both very good. The breakfast was quite frankly amazing and set us up for a long days driving. Thoroughly recommend and look forward to visiting again soon.

Parking can be tricky in a LWB van, but thankfully there is a free overnight car park a short walk away.

Parking was good, the main areas of the hotel were well decorated, had lovely furniture and were very welcoming especially the open fire in the bar area. The room was well decorated, comfortable and well laid out with lots of lovely snacks and plenty of milk and tea and coffee to select from. The bed was comfy and the room temperature could be easily changed to suit. The bathroom was good with a good shower over the nice deep bath. The bar had a good choice of drinks and plenty of seating areas. The breakfast choice and quality was excellent. All of the staff were welcoming and we were quickly greeted on arrival and each time we wanted to be served.

Nothing at all.

Well, this was perfect for us this trip. Great atmosphere, lovely staff, and amazing breakfast. Wonderful relaxing areas throughout the property A proper traditional inn in a delightful small town. We loved this hotel with it's instant access to the shops and bars on the high street and it's own timeless charm.

The location on the high street of a bustling town was a plus point for us but I could envisage some folk finding traffic noise disturbing if you had a room on the hotel front. Also, because the hotel is really the focal point of the town, parking at the hotel was sometimes limited but local parking was also available.

great location, friendly staff, overall a lovely hotel. Food was also excellent. Will be back for sure.

we booked the whole hotel (14 rooms) bar 1 room i think and also booked the restaurant for our whole group which served until 9. we arrived a bit later than expected but did call ahead. Half of us arrived at about 8.45 and ordered, those that arrived a couple of minutes after 9 were not accommodated and had to walk down the street to find a takeaway... which I felt, given the circumstances could have been handled differently.

Amazing staff,. Superb bar and downstairs area, Fabulous large room and very comfy bed.. I arrived at 10.50pm and the shower tray in my room was dirty and the 2 girls on duty could not have been more helpful and one of them cleaned it for me.. the level of genuine customer service is a rarity today.

I don't really have 2 or 3 sentences as overall I had a great experience and everything was lovely, the only disappointment was that the bathroom was a bit tired and old and wasn't totally clean.

Room was very noce and very walm which I liked, very good powerful shower Stayed lots over the years, prob 80-100nights I would say but my room In the coach house at the back I liked, Some of the rooms in main hotel are in need of rennovation and the showers are not as good in the main building either

My only concern was the attitude/ abruptness of the girl at breakfast. Not very welcoming at all Didn’t engage, didn’t ask if I would like another drink etc. Very slap dash and then ignored me.

This charming historical hotel in Tarporley is housed in a beautifully aged building, featuring delightful and cozy corners adorned with fireplaces that create a perfect atmosphere for relaxation. The culinary experience was exceptional, offering a delectable array of finger foods to complement both beverages and dinner. For those with lighter appetites, a satisfying continental breakfast is available, while those with heartier morning cravings can indulge in a selection of typical English breakfast options. The lovely and friendly staff further enhance the charm of this retreat, making it a truly delightful experience. A special note for dog lovers – dogs are welcome!

Loved it the way it was!

The room was very clean and tidy with a lovely tea tray. the bed was comfortable and the space was more than adequate. the parking was excellent. The evening meal was a good standard of food. The bar has maintained an atmosphere of the original coaching house although it is new and fresh which is not always the case.

I was in a separate building to the main inn but this suited my needs and there was no issue with the room. The inn has no control over this but the church bells rang constantly, you would think in the days of the mobile phone village councils would revisit this tradition. The breakfast wasn't as good as the evening meal implied it would be, although very tasty it was fried but not in a greasy spoon way. the egg was perfect.

Lovely historic town centre hotel, very easy to find and close to shops, restaurants, garage, etc. The design and ambience are delightful and staff relaxed and friendly. Excellent breakfast with loads of choice, served until 1100h. Nice touches in the room hospitality tray and chilled water.

Parking is tight, especially when full of vans! Courtyard rooms have no aircon or fan, and no blind or nets over the window for privacy with light.
