I loved the service here, the gentleman was kind and carried my bags up the stairs and was prepared to be awake earlier if I needed to leave earlier than when the check out desk was open. The location had lots in walking distance including a street with lots of anime shops and a gorgeous temple, but if one didn't want to walk, there was a train station practically across the street! The room is a unique experience for a foreigner, sleeping on a futon on tatami mats (the coziest sleeping experience out of the six hotels I slept in in Japan) and sitting at a short table with a chair with no legs. Even little things like the temperature control in the shower being easy and precise and the amenities including water, lotion, and a packet of snacks made this a better experience than I had at other hotels. It is not for people who stay out late though, as the doors get locked at midnight, but that was not a problem for me--and like I said, you are going to want to have plenty of sleeping time!!

I didn't know how the air conditioning worked--I was able to look on the internet that it's remote operated, but it would have been nice to have been shown that remote. Also I don't believe it's wheelchair or mobility device accessible, unfortunately.

This is great little budget ryokan. The amenities provided are excellent for the price and the location was great. Easy to get anywhere within about 20 minutes by train.

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find as the sign on the outside does not match the name on Booking.com. A lovely local helped us but even she had trouble finding it! Also the staff, who are very nice, are not around much and do not seem to have much local knowledge. The other thing was that the futons are very thin so not very hard and not comfy at all particularly as the floors are thin tatami matting placed over regular floirboards.

We wanted to have the traditional experience and that’s just what we had. Sharing the bathroom was a little uncomfortable at the begining because we weren’t used to. But everything was spotless clean, it was traditional, small but enough actually. The staff was very helpful when we needed to transfer our luggage to our next hotel.

The curfew was a little stressful because we felt we couldn’t visit the surroundings as much as we wanted and come back to our room whenever we wanted. But that’s part of the game when you want the traditional experience.

All amenities available and location is right close to osaka-uehommachi station. Yet it’s a calm and quiet area to experience a spacious traditional room with tatami floors. The staff were super helpful and super kind. Budget friendly. Bugle get friendly too. Would recommend this to anyone.

Some of the mats were dirty. Maybe they are hard to clean. We stored our luggage (6 pieces) for nearly half a day for 1000yen which is a bargain compared to coin lockers but other hotels I’ve been to never charged.

The location is excellent for getting to the airport as the direct airport bus leaves from a hotel at the station, barely 5 minutes walk from the ryokan. The room was small but perfectly comfortable. They do not serve food, but there was a fridge, kettle, teapot and green tea as well as some Japanese snacks in the room. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, including the basement of a department store (not to be missed!) within the Uehonmachi station complex

The service was superb! We arrived a little too early for checkin and were allowed to leave our backpacks. When we returned, the host had carried our backpacks upstairs! The host was extremely kind to us in every way possible. Our room was small but great. The futon slept really well, and the kotatsu was super cosy.

Our only (very very minor) complaint/something you should be aware of, was that the bathroom was very small. Manoeuvring in it required some acrobatics. This size bathroom is standard in most Japanese accommodations though!

It was pretty and very traditional with a big tv we used at night with no problems. It was clean and we had a wonderful stay. The host was very sweet and even ran to the hotel when we send a message saying we were there even though it was us who came a little of the schedule

It was a little cold with only blankets to sleep with, definitely should have turned off the ventilators at night

Kayo, the lady that runs the ryokan is very friendly and helpful, the first night she sent us a message advising us that there was a festival going on in the area and that it would have been a nice experience for us, in fact it was we still remember it. The property is very close to Uehommachi train station which is only one stop away from Namba, the heart of Osaka. It was the first time that we staid in a traditional Japanese house and hopefully won't be the last.

Very nice Ryokan located in a nice and quiet neighborhood, the staff is very kind, and they accepted to keep our lugage prior to the check in time, which was very convenient! The beds were surprisingly confy!

The size and property of the bathroom, although it was very very reasonable and normal according to japan's standards I think!
