On arrival the Hotel did not disappoint, it was just as pictured in the images advertised. Check in went very smoothly and as we ventured up to our rooms the rest of the Hotel was amazing, lots of history, pictures, dark wood, superb glass above the enormous main door which has the best view from the 1st floor. And the room itself, wow, what a room! Extremely clean, comfortable and tranquil, we even had water and sweets left for us and there where toiletries in the bathroom too. Wasn't much choice for us on the TV but we didn't really need it, just listening to that quietness overnight and the slight noises throughout the day was enough - best noises in the day time was from the eagle above!! And the breakfast, everything was so fresh and tasty, we got lots of nice items to pick from and the fresh orange juice was lovely, and the coffee was also very nice - this certainly kept us going all day long! Lots of lovely cold wines available, and their Gin was yum! Unfortunately the 2 nights we stayed there we drunk their fridges dry of the bottled lager, but did taste extremely good! Massive thank you to the manager Emeterio and his staff for looking after us so well x

The only slight issues, but wasn't a problem really, was that we did miss the fresh bottles of water for the rooms for the rest of our stay and on returning to the room the evening of day 2 the toiletries had not been replenished/the bathroom bin had not been emptied but we was too tired to go back down to reception and it wasn't that much of a complaint really, just more of a bit of a niggle.

Fantastic location, superb building (17th C, I think), comfy room with a view on the square, lovely village with superb visits to make (the roman cloister being a must of course, but there are many other things). The hotel is full of charm and atmosphere, old-style (which to me is great). Service is good, people are pleasant and attentionate. Dinner is very good (special mention for the suckling lamb) and so is breakfast. In short, a great stay and experience and I will return, I am sure.

Nothing ! I imagine though that the lack of lift (normal in such a building) can be a problem for some people who have to carry their luggage up the beautiful central staircase. It was not a problem for me.

A really old-fashioned (in the best sense) hotel in traditional style. Cosy rooms (not roomy), two floors to climb without elevator. Perfect location - you cross the road to hear the vespers mass in the convent and return to a very good evening menu in the hotels restaurant. It helps if you understand some Spanish. Traditional breakfast served (no buffet), red wine included. If you like your evening stroll through the village after dinner - say hello to the friendly tomcat at the end of the marketplace.

Always a warm welcome. A historic building in a lovely Spanish village. We always pay extra to have a front facing room on the second floor overlooking the square. Breakfast of freshly cooked eggs to order, toast, fruit, ham etc can be taken indoors of sitting out the square. The church bells ring for 15 minutes every evening before mass. What joy

After a motorcycle ride from Santander it was great to arrive and have a beer outside in the square by this great hotel. The room was beautiful with a very comfortable bed and a view out onto the square. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Both dinner and breakfast were very good. Exceedingly quiet location opposite a massive working monastery and the village is approached down an amazing road which would put Cheddar Gorge to shame. Equally fantastic departure road particularly on a motorcycle.

I had a wonderful stay at a charming hotel located across from the historic abbey. The property was adorned with beautiful antiques, and my room featured a lovely bathtub and plenty of hot water. The staff was incredibly attentive, gracious, and accommodating, making my stay feel truly special. Despite its elegant atmosphere, the hotel offered affordable prices.

We are really pleased we chose this place out of all the similar options nearby. It is right in the centre of the square and the second we walked through the door we felt very welcome. The staff were all super friendly, with a particular mention to the hotel manager who gave us a lot of information on our visit to Sad Hill and other lesser known locations of The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. The room was perfect for us, with a very comfortable bed and shutters which blocked all the light. It was very quiet at night and the radiators kept the room warm and cosy. Breakfast in the morning was wonderful too. Needless to say, will certainly be back! Gracias!

A great little off the beaten track hotel - close proximity for visiting Sad Hill cemetery (the Good the Bad and the Ugly 😀). Perfect if you are looking for non commercial and authentic Spanish culture.

We really enjoyed our stay but a few little touches were missing - no water or tea/coffee facilities in room and no options given for breakfast.

Great, friendly customer service from all of the staff, especially the man on reception and the waiting staff in the restaurant. We loved the rustic feel of the hotel and room. The evening meal we took in the hotel's restaurant was delicious as was the breakfast the following morning. Highly recommended!

The water from the shower leaked onto the bathroom floor quite easily. But this was only a very minor issue.

Lovely village the hotel is on the main plaza where you can drop off your luggage then park at the car parks at either end of the main road. We used the hotel restaurant which was good there are also plenty of bars etc available. We walked around the monastery and also drove to the good the bad and the ugly cemetery
