My first trip to Tybee Island so booking online can be a gamble, when you don't know the area. I stayed in the B&B portion of the DeSoto which was really special. It's been a B&B in that exact house and location since 1936. The location on the island was perfect for exploring either end —the south end has a lot of bars, shops and dining while the north end has the historical features and some pretty fabulous restaurants that are highly rated. Being beachfront, the walk to the beach took just a minute. I didn't use the small pool but several guests seemed to be enjoying it. Rick, the Scottish host was phenomenal. He left wine and cheese in the evening, turned on the shared space lights and provided a delicious home-cooked breakfast the next morning. He's also a font of information about the area and also Savannah. There are lots of options to stay on Tybee but for a solo traveler or a couple this place is IDEAL. You can't go wrong. A+++

Not a con at all but I traveled solo, with a carryon so I didn't have a beach towel or ice chest to take down to the beach. There is a souvenir store right across the street to purchase these items. It could be useful to have some extra beach towels on hand for guests but again, in no way is not having them an issue. I was there for one night only so purchasing supplies didn't make sense in my situation.

THE REVIEW ASKS WHAT I LIKE FIRST, BUT DOESN'T SHARE IT THAT WAY. ANYWHO..... I'm from Savannah, so being in big houses with Southern charm is definitely home for me. Desoto Beach blends modern with traditional in this classic yet comfortable B&B.They prepared good breakfasts, kept fresh baked chocolate chip cookies in the kitchen, and served red & white wine and cheese & crackers in the dining room each evening. The Butler Room included a picture window view of Butler Ave. and our 2nd story porch had a hammock on one side and a large table where we opted to eat dinner outside in the beach breeze each night.

They have adequate space for guests to store food/drink in their own labeled refrigerator bin or shelf. However, the refrigerator needed to be cleaned.

Really great location and Rick was the best host you could ask for - he knew everything about the town and made the best breakfasts! We enjoyed the B&B atmosphere of having breakfast with others who quickly became friends. The location is great: a short walk to the incredible beach.

Parking was a bit crazy, but probably because of the holiday weekend.

It was great to have breakfast ready in the morning and not have to try and go anywhere to eat. The food was good, snacks were a nice touch, the covered porch and swing (hammock) was wonderful, and very relaxing, House had alot of character and was kept up fairly well and clean. Good location.

The only thing that was uncomfortable in our room was the warmth at night. It got very stuffy in the room at night. There is no ceiling fan so the air circulation was bad at night while trying to sleep.

Lynn. Every morning then inn keeper greeted us for breakfast, held a wonderful conversation, and was super helpful at giving us ideas for how to spend our days/things to do or see. I would come back and stay simply to see Lynn again. The B&B was a 30 second walk to the beach.

Parking. They provide enough parking for one vehicle per room. Somehow, last night stay all the spaces were taken before we came back. I called the guest services to figure out the parking because it says you will be towed and I was instructed to park in the handicap space. Solved the problem but didn’t really make sense how the problem arose. If someone had been staying in the ADA room there would have been no parking available.

The Host was amazing he made the stay the greatest he was a excellent cook and a great communicator, we loved his stories The place was beautiful and well maintained also close to everything, we would recommend this place if you need a place to stay when your in the area.

Rick, the innkeeper is a character, that both educated and entertained about Scottish history and culture. Felt pampered by his stories and excellent cooking. Very old school, a rare find!

Bed and pillows were a bit hard. Shower drain was slow, so water pooled a bit.

We felt like we were home. We chatted with the two other guests and really enjoyed it.

The stairs were hard on my husband but the staff was right there to help with luggage. And the tv was hung high up on the wall. That’s always uncomfortable for me but I see there really was no other place for it.

We enjoyed meeting the other couple that was there. We enjoyed the wine and cheese on the porch. We liked how close we were to the beach. We enjoyed Shelly and her mom - they were so welcoming and helpful in recommending local attractions.

Wished we had a full ocean view. There is a house in front but you could still see the ocean from the corner.

Rick the innkeeper was exceptional. Great breakfast, great conversation and informative about the Savannah area.

Maybe a better shade on the window in the sleeping area. The blinds weren’t blackout shades.
