Fantastic location, very peaceful and stunning views. Delicious barista coffee available. Staff very friendly and helpful. Accommodation very clean and fairly comfortable.

If I have to sleep in a single bed, would prefer a wider one. No bedside table, so tricky to manage phone, water, etc. Also the footpath down from accommodation building to main building was down steps. I'm a little disabled, and could manage the steps fine, except for bottom few, which were too steep. And just when they became steep, the handrail gave out. So was very difficult coming back up for me. Handrail should be extended to the ground level.

The room was beautiful once i upgraded to a lodge. the views were exceptional, the cleanliness of the lodge was very good, the Tea/Coffee/hot choc & biscuits in the room were a little treat. A small fridge also in the room. Mike (Sit mgr) was exceptional and was always around if i needed any help with anything. A real asset to Brathay Hall.

The original room i was checked into the views were limited with a tree and branches in the view of the window, although it had recently been re-carpeted and painted this was not the room i wanted for my duration of my stay with very limited space for three days. The available Breakfast could have been a lot more adventurous.

The room was lovely, spacious and comfortable. The view was spectacular. We didn't have breakfast as it was a pre-prepared breakfast bag delivered to the room and we have had those at Travelodge and were not keen so brought our own with us. We were able to take two dogs with us which was wonderful and they enjoyed the walking as much as we did. An added bonus, my daughter was able to launch her paddle board straight onto Lake Windermere from Brathay's boat house.

We had requested single beds (i travelled with my daughter) but when we got there it was one double bed but it was huge so not a problem.

Brathay Hall is located in beautiful, quiet surroundings, a walkable distance to Ambleside and with views of the lake at the front of the building. My friend and I were impressed by the efficient, kind support offered at reception on arrival and departure. We had already been emailed a code and a lodge number. The lodge allocated to us in Wansfell was an ideal size; the room was clean and it had a fridge & television. The large windows were an added bonus. Ambleside is a wonderful place at which to stay, especially for walking/cycling, and the facilities were secure as regards our belongings. We would be delighted to return. If anything, the promotional material under-rates Brathay's qualities.

Not a criticism at all, but we were not sure if any of the lodges had self-catering (for future reference). A larger and more atmospheric bar might have been pleasing, too.

The check in was a very easy process and the room was nice and close to the reception. The hotel is well located for Ambleside and the lakes. The location is beautiful. I suppose a slight issue would be the lack of food onsite, there's seems to be some confusion about the catering available, some people say they had a lovely breakfast, but we couldn't find any evidence of catering. I think events have meals included? Perhaps, reception offering a few breakfast options would help.

I think some better food options would have been really handy.

A fabulous location, gorgeous buildings, the room was spotless and spacious and had lovely massive windows looking out across the grounds and the lake. We asked for a specific room as it looked the most ideal for us with our dog, having seen the rooms on the website, and they sorted it no problem. Staff were really friendly and in addition to the tea, coffee and fridge we even got a little goodie bag for the pooch. Can't fault this place at all, huge thanks from me, Ben and Rune. We'll definitely come again!

There's nothing not to like! Although we did have a giggle the first time we turned on the shower that it sounded like a blender trying to take off 🤣 but it settled and was really powerful and hot so we loved the shower too!

- Nice views, with lots of benches outside that overlook the lake, perfect for a picnic - Good value for money - Easy check-in, we were sent instructions beforehand - Free parking and always available - Good amenities

- Noisy room, we could hear people talking and walking around and using the bathroom in the next room - Shower had low pressure and water look a long time to heat up and even then was only warm

Beautiful location, lovely room. Very comfortable and quiet. We had a lovely view and would definitely stay again. Large shower, very clean.

You have to park a long way away from the actual room (although we could unpack nearby and then move the car) which on a rotten wet night like we had on arrival was inconvenient. However the room and view made up for it. . We'd stay again but it's best to be prepared. Also uneven unlit main pathways around the rooms.

The room was very peaceful, and very comfortable, the staff were very accommodating, parking and check in was easy. We had a lovely stay. Only complaint would be that there were no bath towels, but we were only there for one night so it was no issue, and I am sure the towels would have been provided had we needed to ask, so overall no real problems, very nice place to stay, I definitely would stay again.
