The bedroom was large with very comfortable beds. The bathroom was big with both a shower and an amazingly big bath. There was a communal lounge area for guests and dining area/kitchen. Philip lit the wood burning stove so we had a very cosy evening sitting in front of it. There was a very pretty outdoor seating area with the wisteria in full bloom and the garden was lovely. We had both breakfast and an evening meal prepared for us, both of which were excellent. Seemingly we stayed a few weeks ahead of the tourist season starting and we were the only guests there. It felt as if we were in a catered chalet with Philip and Daphne being the perfect hosts spoiling us. If I could score them 100/10 I would have done!! Such a lovely stay.

Absolutely nothing!

Surrounded by nature next to the Buller River stands this beautiful rustic lodge . it was very cosy sitting by the log fire in the evening after our walk around the property to the river's edge., On arrival in the late afternoon, we were greeted by our very welcoming host,Phillip. He cooked a wonderful homemade breakfast using their own fresh grown eggs. The house facilities included a full kitchen ,lounge and nearly everything you need. The linen was first class andt so too,the bathroom . Clearly Phillip and his wife ,Daphne ,both have an eye for detail. Even providing a complementary snack and drink. I could see us returning to stay as a retreat experience.

Nothing really as there is no need for a TV or A/C anyway.

This lodge is really like being home from home. The host Philip and his family make you feel very welcome. The room is spacious and well equipped along with a fabulous en suite bathroom c/w a little nightlight. The family live in a separate property adjacent so guests can use the kitchen, dining and lounge areas. Breakfast was substantial and included some very tasty home made food stuffs. This lodge would have made an ideal base for several days.

The bed was a little uncomfortable and cold . perhaps should have made use of the electric blanket. We found evening meals in the immediate area to be very poor quality and should have had an evening meal in the lodge. Fair warning of this would have been useful so we could have purchased ingredients en route. Sadly we only stayed one night.

Our first b&b of the trip and you realise the benefits over a motel stay. Tucked away in a woody area just 5 mins from town ( an easy walk ) , the beautiful lodge is a great place to relax after a tough day out. Lovely communal living/sitting area and kitchen allows you to relax alone or meet the other guests ( only 3 rooms I think, so not like you are surrounded by people ) Our first floor room was lovely. Large, bright, great outlook onto the extensive gardens and full of the lovely homely things that makes this different from a hotel room. There’s a lovely little path from the house to a small gazebo down by the river and a beautiful spot for some ‘me time’ Breakfast included and was excellent. The final word for the hosts who were charming, friendly and could not have been more helpful .

Such a warm welcome with everything we could have wanted accommodated. Breakfast was definitely one of the highlights with homemade jam and bread as well as espresso/tea. An honor bar with a number of drink options and a porch looking out on the mountains were also nice touches. The rooms had all the perfect touches from space heaters in the bathrooms so you were toasty getting out of the shower, drinking water, heated mattress pads, toiletries and the sound or crickets outside as you fall asleep. Book one of the upstairs rooms if available- there are so many windows and the views are incredible!

We loved everything about our stay at Murchison Lodge. We were the only guests staying this particular night so it felt very special to have the beautiful house to ourselves. In the morning Philip cooked us an amazing breakfast, after which we went for a lovely stroll through his property down to the river. Philip was the best host: so friendly and interesting to talk to — and kind. I accidentally left something behind, which Philip generously posted home to us for no charge. incredible! All in all, a standout stay for us. Thank you, Philip!

The lovely facilities, grounds, and rooms were top-notch in quality, comfort, and cleanliness. The guest lounge, porch, and kitchen provided plenty of space and amenities to meet the needs of everyone. Loads of delicious home baked goodies for welcome treat, breakfast, and snacking. The breakfast was sumptuous and the variety and quality of offerings was astounding. Even with all of these truly excellent aspects of the B&B, the best part of all were our hosts, Philip & Daphne. They were kind, generous, informative, helpful, and friendly and took such great care of us during our stay. We felt, and were treated, like long time friends.

Murchison Lodge is a little slice of paradise . Tucked away from the rest of the world, right by the river. It's a calming and lovely place. With a beautiful garden and spaces for the guests to sit and enjoy the surroundings. Our room was very comfortable, spacious and with a great bed and bathroom. Philip is a tremendous host. The breakfast was outstanding, homemade bread being just part of it. There is local wine and beer available and even dinner if you don't fancy going out , or using the kitchen yourself. We wished we could have stayed longer.

Nothing .

We cannot rate our experience at Murchison lodge too highly. We were warmly welcomed by Philip on our arrival and introduced to his wife Daphne and four year old son Ben. The lodge is similar to an Alpine chalet with lovely oak beams and has a homely, comfortable feel to it. There is a wood burning stove in the sitting room and Philip lit this in the evening for us. There are books and games provided for guests to enjoy and we had our first game of Scrabble in ages on the last evening. Our room was very spacious with a wonderful view of the mountains, which looked lovely in the morning mist. The lodge is set in its own grounds and so is very private. Philip and Daphne looked after us very well and made sure we had everything we needed. Daphne makes great cookies and Philip made an excellent breakfast for us with lots of choices ( Menu is available to complete the evening before) Murchison is a small place with limited options for eating and Philip and Daphne offered to cook us an evening meal, which we gladly took them up on, Obviously we paid them for this much appreciated extra. There are lots of lovely walks in the vicinity of the lodge and it is very peaceful, which we really appreciated.

Can't think of anything.

The lodge is very comfortable and spacious. Philip is an excellent host , they have an ev charging station on site, so we could charge our car fully. The breakfast, as everyone mentions, is delicious. Philip provided me a delicious range of vegan food many home made. We slept super well in the comfortable bed and look forward to staying again in the summer to further explore the area. The lodge is a short walk from the village, but feels very rural and peaceful.
