Extremely clean, large rooms. Mini fridge, T.V provided. A nice touch with confectionery on the pillows. The bathroom is well set out and pristine. Great hot shower. Staff were very helpful. Ice-cream at the front was delicious. Central to town. Amazing view to monastery. Only 5 minutes walk to the train station, 10min walk to good selection of shops. Buffet breakfast was good. Lunch and dinner available - large portions. Please note that there are stairs only to the rooms, so if you cannot carry your luggage upstairs, you may need to ask for a luggage valet service (not sure if they provide). Would definitely stay here again.

Please be aware that you pay for the bread which is placed on your table during lunch. You also pay for butter portions.

this is nicely renovated, historic building; sizeable parking (although when we arrived in the evening, there was only 1 place left); locked garage for bikes, spacious apartament, comfortable beds.

if staying for more than 2 days you miss more diverse breakfast; pricey restaurant; no kettle or even a bottle of water in apartament, which would be very nice to have, especially if arriving late or by bike.

Couldn't ask for a better location right on the square. The parking is much easier than other reviews made it sound. It's an enclosed courtyard and it has a walkway right to the back door of the hotel. We were expecting to walk a few blocks on cobblestone streets with our bags. The breakfast was excellent. Lots of variety and good coffee and juices. We had a room overlooking the square. It was cool enough to sleep with windows closed. With no AC, I could see it would be a problem on hot summer nights.

Other reviews had commented on noise from below. We were on the floor right above the restaurant. We were there midweek. Early evening we could hear chatter but by bedtime it was quiet. The first night we both woke up to the smell of cigarette smoke. We have no idea where that was coming from and it was only a problem that first night.

Impressive historical property renovated to a good standard, located in the heart of the touristy area. The restaurant is great and the personnel went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. They have a large enclosed courtyard where we could park, with entrance from the back from another street - they send instructions via email. We will return next time we are in the area.

Large room with table and chairs that was off a historic hallway. Very clean with a small, but modern bathroom. Nice view to the street. Centrally located. Had a fine breakfast and dinner in the Rathauskeller. One can walk from the train station and have a nice stroll in the evening. The monastery is obviously the highlight.

A kettle would have been good.

Clean, friendly staff. Ideal location. Nice quiet garden for residents - for a drink or meal, as well as tables on the street if you wanted the street life. Breakfast was fine for this size hotel - a good spread but not full 4* hotel choice. Dinner was excellent and even a smaller portion was produced when my wife said she could not manage the usual generous portion. Fan in room - weather was very hot.

The bathroom was up about 5 steps from the bedroom. As is normal in Austria there is no air conditioning and it was about 32C when we were there. There was a fan in the room though - without asking. So that's positive.

This hotel was 'location central' for us. Only a five-minute walk from the train station and sitting right in the middle of the Melk old town. Everything was walkable. Breakfast choices were good. We enjoyed the staff, especially in the restaurant where we experienced lively conversation.

Stairs! We're 77 and 78, so managing suitcases up stairs can be a challenge. We did have assistance when we checked-in, so that was great. I should have been more diligent in reading the fine print - NO LIFT. We managed, but an elevator is always appreciated.

Very nice hotel in the center of Melk, close to the monastery and to others shops, cafes, restaurants. The room was very good, clean, confortable. The bathroom is ok, simple but your have all you need. The bed is good, the pillows not great but ok. Breakfast very nice, excellent coffee. Hôtel’s restaurant is very nice, tasty food and correct service, we loved our waiter Joseph, he was very helpful and attentive. Congratulations!

Melk is a major tourist draw, and there are a lot of places to stay. We were very happy with this one. The building is very interesting, the location is outstanding with a view of the abbey from our window, it has a good restaurant and gelato on the street. room was spacious, architecturally interesting with arched ceilings, and well appointed. A repeater if we are ever back in Melk.

No negatives.

The staff were really nice and welcoming. The location was perfect, the restaurant served great food, the rooms were clean and well renovated and comfortable. They had their own beer which was good.

We wished the breakfast started a bit earlier at 7.00 and there was no coffee in the room for earliebirds like us.
