Found this quaint village by accident, what fun it was. A Shaker village on 32 acres of farmland. Don't be surprised if you spend a bit of time exploring and reading their history as well as walking the pathways to see the animals, visit the shops, and to enjoy the restaurant. I forgot to ask about steps when I booked my room, I have knee issues and I struggled to get my suitcases up to my room. I found out later they would have helped me. The room was a delight from the hardwood floors, to the rugs, the windows overlooking the area as the sun set and the village lights came on, the antique furniture, the design of the room, even the locks on the doors. While walking some of the paths at dusk I discovered there were areas that had campfires set up! Did you ever find any of this at a place you just booked to get a good night's sleep?!
Stairs, my fault for not enquiring.

breakfast was decent, but a bit pricey. Also variety of choices was limited. We would like to come back to explore the property. The weather did not permit us to make use of the extensive trails. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The bath supplies and coffee were great! I also enjoyed reading a bit about the history of the village from the book that was provided in the room.
I had biscuits and sausage gravy. Not much sausage in the gravy. Had to pay extra to add fruit. Fruit was limited to grapes and strawberries. I expected more variety. Also seems that fruit should be included in this entrée selection. Regarding lodging: the noise from other guests just walking in the hallway and accessing their rooms transmitted easily into our room due to big gap under the door. Light from hallway was also coming into room under the door at night. We eventually laid pillows on the floor at the bottom of the door to block the light.

Quiet and close to where my family lives. The price was very affordable
I would have liked a bigger building with more room. The boiler was turned on so there was no AC which made it very stuffy and hot on 2nd floor. We stayed in Stone Building. We ended up with box fan and that helped alot. The fridge facility area was a small crawl hole looking space with nasty sink. The fact you had to put any fridge foods in a college sized cubicle was somewhat of a joke.

Breathtaking location and very serene! A bit of authentic time period artwork on the walls would have cozied up the space though. Felt a little sterile without it. Beautiful properties and historical buildings!! Would love to return!!
It smelled pretty musty and had rotted windowsills that were moldy. We understand its a very old place, but the windows definitely need quick restoration. They were so soft with moisture and rot that you could lightly press on the wooden frame around the glass and it would move. Not good at all, especially for health issues.

Great stay in a historical setting with great service and friendly staff. I was able to bring my toddler and not worry about keeping him busy. He loved all the activities and farm animals and came back home very exhausted. We loved how you could come and go to explore all that was offered, like the farm, trails, tours, etc. Could be a wonderful place for reunions. The restaurant and their service were very good, which as you know is very rare these days. The history of the buildings was fun to explore. Also, it was the perfect place for the family to hang out if you need to make a quick trip to Keeneland as it was an easy 20-minute drive.
Our shower curtain was a little dirty. Nothing crazy and almost feel guilty bringing it up since the overall feel of the place was definitely cleanliness, but it was noticeable to us and hopefully can be easily improved. Other than this, our room was great, and our stay was very comfortable. Also, you sell so many homemade jams yet don't offer any in the restaurant! Again, these are very minor things but since you asked....

Having museum on lower level, gift shop next to dining and local music was great. 30-acres of landscaped farmland with pigs, ducks and garden was a treat. Everyone was very nice and answered all questions.
Shower head was meant for children and not adults; it came to mid-chest (I'm 5'9"); there was no mentioned of this although must by historically correct given the building was built circa 1859

As an architect, this was a destination. You are IN the museum village which is amazing. The room and West Village Family building are stunningly maintained in reasonable historic manner. It really is a destination for history lovers. Superior optional breakfast in yet another restored building. The walking of the village at dusk, the outside fire pits, the dawn light are all worth the journey.
It's a room in a 19th c. museum village, so noise from hall, and above rooms on wood floors. The desk was staffed by helpful people, but they did not have a record of my Booking.com reservation and they said they were full. . A kind person donated us her room.

the rooms were comfortable and spacious! The grounds were gorgeous! I love a place that is steeped in a fascinating history and enjoy the beautiful grounds at the same time! We ate three meals at Trustee’s Table and thoroughly enjoyed them all! The staff is to be commended for their exceptional care in the treatment of visitors!
Rooms on the 3rd floor and no elevator-when asked to change rooms to a lower floor, we were told we were unable to because Booking.com rooms were only on top floor. ☹️ However a gentleman from maintenance did carry up our bags on request!

All the buildings were beautiful, the grounds were well kept, and I loved all the animals and singing birds. We stayed in the east dwelling house. It was neat.
The air didn't work well and I found two long hairs on the wall in the bathtub. Needs signs stating what the house names are. We were alittle confused with the map and matching the building. We finally figured it out.

A gorgeous and peaceful vacation with pleasant strolls and farm to table food, exquisite and large rooms, very helpful staff. A real visit to the past. I hope to return!
My mother is 96 so sometimes it was difficult to find a drop off spot so she didn't need to walk far. Perhaps more designated drop offs, but don't let cars routinely inside!
