The food, in particular the breakfast were excellent. The location is perfect in a lovely little town and only a 25 minute drive from the Lakes. No parking but there are two car parks within a very short walk. Lovely walks around the town and lots to do - plenty of shops, pubs and a good choice of restaurants.

The only thing I didn’t like about the pub itself was all of the tv’s. They seem to cover every inch of wall space and there’s no escape from them. Such a shame as it’s a lovely old building. I understand if that’s what brings in custom and makes money but it just doesn’t make it look very nice.

All the staff we talked to were polite and helpful. The room was clean and well presented and the breakfast was very good. Location is great and the pub and rooms are full of old world charm.

Our room was immediately above a speaker that was playing very loud music in the pub below. People were also singing and shouting quite loudly until the pub closed at 11pm. Whilst it didn't spoil our visit the music did seem unnecessarily loud. The disposable ear plugs left in the room where probably a give away as to what was to come although we didn't find they helped. Everything did quieten down after 11pm so it wasn't a major issue.

Love the village but unfortunately we were in room 3 ( which is lovely) which meant we were at front of building. You hear everything in this room but the worst is the very early morning when people are out in the street or bind getting emptied, dogs barking it just is not soundproof at all. It’s our second stay and the last time we were in a back room and it was quieter. Love the place but the sleep wasn’t great

Obviously it’s an old building and hard to soundproof, there is ear buds left in room to help with noise, but really not very effective

The room was lovely. Big bed and quite spacious in general. Plenty of hot drinks in the room to make, including a coffee machine. The location was nice, we had a short walk around the neighbouring streets and thought the area was lovely. The breakfast in the morning was good. There was plenty of choice including hot food options. The lady serving us was helpful and polite.

The guest accommodation floors were really warm. The bathroom was quite nice, the ceiling above the shower really let the room down in general as it was quite moldy. I would assume this is because there's not enough ventilation despite there being a fan in the bathroom.

Breakfast very good with plenty of choices. Side plates for toast etc would have been helpful as only dinner plates available and not a lot of space on table. Bedroom and en-suite very clean and comfortable bed. Tray with Tea / coffee and biscuits in room. Liked the staying in the very old building with original features. Staff always pleasant and helpful.

We stayed for 1 Saturday night only. Loud music playing until midnight which we found very noisy. Our room was above the bar. This was the only room available when booking. We were given earplugs which helped. This is not a complaint - but only thing we didn’t like.

It is a beautiful historic building, the staff are very friendly & helpful, the room was clean & comfortable although not very suitable for tall people! I'm only 5'5" & I had to duck my head to enter the bathroom! Great location, nice breakfast in the morning. Lovely place.

There was nothing I didn't like, the only little issue I had was I came back just before the pub closed & there was no food available, I couldn't even buy a bag of crisps as they'd closed the tills so maybe have something available?? I survived as I weigh too much anyway 😅 but would have been nice to have some food!

Was slightly worried due to some of the feedback we had seen. Needn't have worried as the stay was lovely. The room was great. We booked a small double but it felt like an adequate double. Had everything we needed. Plenty of beverage supplies. Really clean. Great shower power! Very dog friendly. The staff at the Snooty Fox are a real assett. Was extremely busy in tbe pub when we checked in, this didn't affect the full, friendly attention we received. Breakfast staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Cooked breakfast was served quickly and was tasty. Plenty of choice of cold breakfast items, cereals, yoghurts, juices etc

Its a minor issue - The pub decor does not match the upstairs rooms so could be off putting to any prospective visitors. That said, it is an old place with charm. It's very popular with the locals so they are obviously getting it right. The room was warm. It didn't stop us sleeping and there were 2 fans available in the room which we chose not to use.

Old fashioned traditional pub with many areas “listed “. Rooms were original features meaning pretty small and low ceilings ( we weee well aware this was the case before booking. )

Only little complaint was the wallpaper on the ceiling of the shower was peeling to the point it hit your head in the shower. I reported this to the manager who acknowledged and advised he was waiting for workmen who had been booked

We frequently stay here when visiting family in the area. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, the bar’s lovely and cosy. The food’s great and the staff are so welcoming and friendly. Last time we stayed there was even a welcome box for the dog which was an especially nice touch and really made our trip (hate places that charge you extra for your dog and seem to try and justify it by leaving a tatty old blanket in a corner, but definitely not here).

Nothing to dislike.

Welcoming staff gave friendly, personal and helpful service. Room & en-suite was clean, warm comfortable bed. Delicious BBQ burger dinner, traditional breakfast and I would book again. This place has plenty of character and staff really made me feel like a special guest, helping carry luggage and bringing food up to my room. Public parking is available nearby, and the market town is beautifully quaint.

On arrival I had been advised this is Dog-friendly accommodation and there might be nocturnal noise. My sleep was disturbed several times by dogs barking and one/two bounding up the stairs returning from late night walk, snuffling at my door by adjacent room. It's only minor, and not a complaint, as dog owners were clearly conscious of noise and pub staff had forewarned me. Would not put me off staying again as this lovely pub has everything going for it.
