Mike is a personable welcoming host with extensive experience in hospitality. He provided a wonderful breakfast every day - fresh fruit, cereal, and our choice of cooked. Always a friendly welcome in the mornings and helped the guests interact over breakfast. Mike has detailed knowledge of places to see and things to do from the area that he has personally visited, and helped us discover some great places and experiences. Our room was serviced every day so it was nice to come back to a clean room everyday. The spa pool and view from our room made a relaxing end to our days particularly overlooking the lush garden.

Mike was a wonderful host—I will truly say he is the best we have ever had. He is kind, helpful and we really enjoyed speaking with him about so many things. I commented on a book he had finished reading and he insisted that I take it on my travels. I was also having credit card issues and he helped me sort those out with such a caring demeanour. A hot breakfast was cooked to order one day and on the other, he made sure we had food in our room so we could get an early start. As well, Wookie the little dog was such a cute, loving dog. If I could give Mike 11/10, I would. Thanks so much!

Absolutely nothing!

The views from our room on the balcony were outstanding! (see attached photo) Mike kept the whole place spotless, and prepared a tasty, healthy breakfast including fruit & yoghurt, followed by bacon, eggs, hash brown etc. He was a fount of useful advice and local knowledge. The bed was huge and comfortable, and the house was on a quiet road 5-10 minutes North from Paihia with it's large supermarket, plenty of places to eat, and boat trips/ferries into the Bay of Islands. There was also a local grocery store 2 minutes walk at the end of the road. We looked forward to getting back to the peace, quiet & views after busy days out.

Mike was really friendly and helpful. Beautiful location, I liked it being quiet and away from the bustle and tourism of Paihia but others who want to be in walking distance of the restaurants may not like the location so much. Lovely room -- we had the suite, which was bedroom, bathroom and sitting room, and that was great with a good amount of space for us for several days. The bed was lovely and firm, and a king bed, and with a good selection of pillows and covers and the chairs and sofas were comfortable. The hot tub just for our room was a lovely touch, great at the end of a long day.

The lighting is a bit dim, and in particular one of the bedroom alcoves is great for laying out a suitcase but too dark to see much of what's in that suitcase because the lighting in the room doesn't reach that far. However, this is a very minor quibble.

Everything. The view is absolutely spectacular. The host, Mike, is super nice. He gave us lots of helpful advice and made sure everyone felt welcome. When our clothes got soaked on our hike he put them in his dryer for us. When we had an early morning bus trip to Cape Reinga he made us breakfast the evening before to store in the fridge, so that we could eat it in the morning. The breakfast was also very delicious. It offered fruits, muesli and freshly made eggs, bacon etc. We definitely would recommend everyone to stay at his place.

Mike was extremely helpful and friendly - giving us loads of information on walks we could do. The property was absolutely beautiful with amazing views. The room itself was really clean and well maintained and very quiet. The breakfast was delicious with different fresh fruit every morning. Mike is a great host and we will definitely be back and will recommend this place to our friends. We really appreciated Mike's knowledge and friendly personality.

Maybe an extra towel each for the spa would hvae been helpful.

Mike was a lovely host - very knowledgeable about the area and patient. The location is simply stunning. We arrived to a brilliant rainbow from the deck. We had a very short time here and had to leave earlier than planned, but it made our brief stopover in NZ absolutely worth it. Would love to spend more time here in the future. Mike was great. Really attentive and very friendly. Told me about all the places I should visit in the area and how best to get there. I was in the upstairs apartment which had an amazing view. It’s lovely and quiet here but not too far from the hustle of Paihia which is about a 4km walk/drive away. I walked in and out every time I went into town.

Despite the bad weather, we enjoyed our stay here. Mike was a great host and helped us with possible things to do. The private hot tub in the evening was perfect to end the day. Mike also prepared a fresh breakfast for us every morning. The place is just a few minutes by car from shopping/restaurants/beach and amazing nature (and waterfalls).

This is an amazing place to stay! Mike, the host was brilliant- very friendly and really helpful with regards to suggestions for restaurants and things to do and see in the area. Our room was lovely and had a great view over the bay. Very comfy bed and all the amenities that you need for your stay. Very fast Wi-Fi and one of the tastiest breakfasts that we have ever had at a B&B. Would highly recommend.
