Fabulous historic building, interestingly decorated with hunting trophies. I parked outside by the hitching rail & let myself in through the huge studded double doors. The self-check in was fine, although it all felt a bit spooky as the whole town was deserted too. The room was comfortable and the bathroom functional. The AC worked well. Breakfast was again functional - good coffee, juice, toast, yogurt, cheese, ham and salami were offered. I saw 1 member of staff at breakfast and another 1 the following day. It was certainly peaceful. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean.
The absence of people was slightly unnerving - deserted streets outside, a keypad for entry, room keys left in the door. No welcome. The curtains did not block the bright (antique) streetlight right outside. Cupboard doors had rusty hinges which screeched when opened, which seemed to echo around the silent hotel! I crept down to a deserted breakfast room in the morning, and was finally greeted by a member of staff, who was friendly & helpful. I expect at a busier time this would all be very different, but walking around the town looking for dinner felt strange - literally no people at all, hoof prints in the sand (no tarmac or pavements here), huge lamps on the old buildings. No shops or bars or cafes at all. All very atmospheric.

We weren’t expecting the town to be so wacky. What a place. We loved the town - it was like being on a real life western film set. We didn’t know what to expect, but it wasn’t that. It was a great experience. We arrived at the hotel and had a fantastic welcome from the guys at the reception. Our room was very large and comfortable. I found the bed to be comfortable, but my husband found the bed uncomfortable. The town was very quiet, so parking was available just outside of the property. The town is close to a large lake where you can view many different types of birds. Just for info - but it didn’t affect us. There are no English tv channels. We used our hdmi cable and were able to watch a film from our laptop. Breakfast was nice, but quite basic. Bread, cheese, ham, donuts, cornflakes and chocolate flakes, fruit and yogurt.
The shower head needs a little attention as the water didn’t flow from it properly. Lots of nice hot water though.

What a lovely and unique hotel ! The rooms are very nice and cosy, one thing I was missing was maybe a little table, but that's just personal preference :) the bed was very comfy, we had a bit of outside area to relax. The whole hotel and location is just fantastic. El Rocio is like any other Spanish villages I've seen, the atmosphere is just fantastic. Much much recommended ! The hosts were great, attended quickly when I asked for extra towels etc, the breakfast bar is more than enough - fresh breads, cheese, ham, jam etc. Also - a delicious coffee !

El Rocio & the Palacio was a whole new experience of old Spain. The hotel was beautiful and I loved it's rural style. Bedrooms with comfortable beds & great shower rooms were around an external courtyard overlooking a small plunge pool. Traditional breakfast included. The staff were smiling, courteous & very helpful. El Rocio must be seen to. be believed. Flamingos on the lake, cuckoo calling and the wonderful white church dominating the centre of the village surrounded by sandy streets and people riding horses or in their carriages for the Romeria.
No drinks available in the hotel during the evening if you are not going out again. There are plenty of bars to go out to.

Location, breakfast, room size.
The problem vas with the hot water in the shower. From 3 days, when I stayed there, only firs day there were hot water in the shower. I wrote a message and left in the reception, they promised to solve the problem, but finally I had to leave hotel without morning shower. And no sorry, nothing. So ....

The hotel is a typical rural mansion set in the beautiful village of El Rocio. We liked the decor, the ease of check in (self check in), the breakfast options as well as the vicinity to the centre of El Rocio.
The bathrooms could be upgraded, but that's not a big deal as they fit the "cowboy" style of El Rocio.

Great location and very traditional in style. Staff were really helpful and breakfast service good.
Older style of hotel can produce more noise issues, which we did have, but staff were happy to move us to a quiet room and that was brilliant. Thx

It was a stunning building converted to a hotel. The room was well appointed, and warm. Continental breakfast was excellent. I was surprised as I was looking for a cheap hotel, and was very impressed by the value.
Gaining access is not easy, try to have a good idea when you will show up. I would like a little information about the use and history of the building. Remember it is El Rocio, a village dedicated to the horse, - the roads are sand

The receptionist is very pleasant and efficient. El Rocío is such an atmospheric town and this place adds to that . The location on the edge of the village next to the Parque National Doñana was a huge plus. Bring your binoculars. So many birds! We came mid May and we're lucky enough to see flamingos. We were so happy to be able to bring our dog too.

Great small hotel with character. Room was comfortable and quiet. The receptionist was very helpful and the breakfast buffet was simple but of high quality. Great coffee, tostadas con olive oil, spreads and cold meats.
All was great
