Solo Retreat - Exceptional Hospitality Design Flair I recently had the pleasure of staying several nights at the top-floor suite in this guest house, Place Gambetta, Penne d'Agenais Genevieve, a gracious woman, with a genuine smile, greeted me with open arms despite my early arrival. True grace is observed when you disrupt someone’s routine and they remain genuinely accommodating. The top floor is a gem. Bathed in light, the suite boasts two rooms overlooking the main square and three floor-to-ceiling windows, including a Velux in the stairwell. Even if it was rainy and dark you would still enjoy this suite - just to discover the many versatile intriguing lighting fixtures… (I did). In France, rooms are generally small. Not here. The spaciousness, combined with Genevieve's impeccable design touch, made it a haven of comfort and elegance. One detail that truly stood out to me, and this may be a personal preference, were the six full pillows on the bed. How many times have I stayed in "luxury" hotels only to find a lack of pillows? Genevieve pays exquisite attention to detail and seems to know what guests need before they even have to ask. Shall I say more?

La machine à café ne fonctionne pas

We spent 2 nights at la maison sur la place in July and and a wonderful experience. The owner, Genevieve, is the most charming, kind and helpful person. Nothing was too much trouble as she offered suggestions of where to visit in the area and booked restaurants for us. The breakfast she serves is exceptional. The property is also amazing, the room we had (suite really) was enormous, beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. Definitely good value. The location is also great in an historic old town with many artisan shops and excellent restaurants.

It was a very special place to stay. Genevieve was an exceptional host and has done an incredible job with every detail of the house. She made sure we had everything we needed and was always kind about checking in with us. Her breakfast was a highlight, with freshly baked croissants that could be smelled throughout. The location is great, with some great nearby restaurants and a brasserie. We felt very lucky to pick this location while we visited the area for a wedding and recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet getaway. We will miss Genevieve!

Everything! This guest house is an absolute gem. Genevieve is the most wonderful host - she was generous, kind and welcoming. The room was so spacious, beautifully decorated and clean. And the breakfast was honestly the best we’ve ever had, the homemade pear crumble was especially delicious. The location was also great, in the centre of Penne d’Agenais which is a beautiful village with some great restaurants.

Genevieve is a truly wonderful host - so helpful, friendly and she makes a delicious breakfast every morning. The house is absolutely stunning - the room we had at the top is a really large and liveable space. You have a key to come and go as you please - even if coming back very late from a wedding! We had such a fantastic stay and would love to return if we are back in the area.

We were pleasantly surprised by the fabulous decor. The breakfast was the best we have had in a long time, beautifully presented, high quality and lots to choose from 😊 The bed was very comfortable. Our host was very accommodating, attentive and helpful with everything we needed. We would recommend this place to anyone that appreciates art and a warm personal welcome.

It was a pity that we had to leave... :)

Lovely place, excellent food, lovely host - made our stay feeling like home in a very lovely decorated, comforting home. Right in the Center of a cute and medieval french town. Can recommend the wonderful self made and homemade rich french breakfast! 100 % recommendation!

The most tasteful and impressive restoration of this historic building creates a magical and relaxing environment in one of the prettiest bastides in France. Genevieve the proprietor is the perfect host and nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts have to be seen to be believed.

The host Genevieve was very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and she helped us in so many ways. Our room was stunning and had all of the facilities that you would need. Very spacious too. The breakfast was the best I've ever had in accommodation like this. Lots of home made elements and we sat in beautiful surroundings. We left very early the next day and didn't want to miss out on the breakfast, so Genevieve made us a picnic to take with us - so kind of her, it even included some home made cake!

There was nothing we didn't like. Everything was perfect.

WOW - this is our second visit to La Maison and we could not wait to come back and meet the wonderful, elegant host Genevieve again. Nowhere we have ever stayed (and we travel a lot) compares to the uniqueness of La Maison. The soothing and curious interiors that keep you double looking to discover new things in your room, the most delicious and epic breakfast spread you've ever had, the fairy tale setting in the village and the utter kindness and professionalism of your host. La Maison rivals the best boutique hotels in the world, see for yourself, it's no exaggeration. Oh, and just when you thought it couldn't get any better, car parking is really easy right out the front and the surrounding restaurants are walkable and superb.
