The staff was exceptional! Camille greeted us, helped us park our car and then carried our suitcases up 3 flights of stairs! Way beyond what anyone would have done! We were in a separate building than the “hotel”, which was the oldest house in St. Emilion. There were 4 suites, kitchen, living room, dining room, library and the downstairs had a sauna, steam bath, a place for massages and a pool table (which made use of!) and cute little garden area. We never saw another guest even though the house was fully booked.
There was no elevator or lift, so the suitcases were a bit of a challenge. However, the staff would be happy to oblige if needed. We also loved the breakfast, but it would have been nice if some type of eggs were included.

Beautiful and thoroughly charming hotel in the heart of St Emilion. Every team member was amazing, really friendly and very helpful, we really enjoyed our stay at Logis de la Cadene. Stylish decor the hotel was a superb blend of contemporary chic with old-world charm. Ability to park and charge car in their nearby sister hotel was fantastic.
The only thing that could have been improved is that the lighting in the rooms and in the main bathroom wasn't brilliant, I really struggled. Whilst dim lighting is all very romantic, when you're trying to get ready on a dark winter morning, the ability to have more light in the bedroom and main bathroom area would have been really appreciated. That said, it wouldn't put me off staying again as everything else was faultless.

Everyone on staff was lovely and very welcoming, no matter the time of day! :) They helped us arrange a taxi to the train station very early in the morning which was much appreciated, and also offered to book us a dinner reservation on request. The location of the hotel is also perfect for exploring Saint Emilion because it's right in the heart of the village: exit the hotel and turn left, and you'll run right into the village's "main square" at the foot of the monolithic church (this is also where tours of the church originate, so it's really convenient). Turn right, and you'll walk uphill to the street where the tourism office is located (right across from a great overlook point out onto the whole village) as well as some lovely little restaurants, bakeries, and wine stores.
We were upgraded to a suite in another building, which was very nice because we were a group of 3 and thus appreciated the opportunity to have 2 rooms. Unfortunately, the other building--La Maison de la Cadene--was a bit further away from the "center" of the village. I don't mean to be dramatic, Saint Emilion is not that big, so it was maybe a 5-minute walk up some steps. It wasn't too big of a deal, it was more so just ironic because we had chosen the hotel for its ideal location in the heart of the village. Overall though, if I could do it over again, I would still probably want to be at La Maison de la Cadene just for the ability to have 2 separate rooms, so I can't complain!

Location and buildings were fabulous
1. Disappointed with generosity of in room drinks - only 1 nespresso capsule for 2 of us for 2 days. No tea and no milk. 2. Asked for an iron to iron my shirt. Man went off to get it, never heard from again. Put an iron in every room 3. The upsell was unpleasant. A fried egg for €8, pink champagne +€20 per glass. We recommend caviar with that +€35. I don’t mind paying a lot, but I hate being sold to.

Really beautiful hotel which feels more like a grand house. Staff were great and location couldnt be any better. If you are staying you must experience the restaurant which was a real highlight of our holiday!
Very minor details - our bedsheets had holes in them (however bed was very comfy and bed linen good quality). I also prefer to have a headboard on my bed. The room we were in (2015) had a very grand bathroom and room was a little small, but I would return!

We stayed in La Maison which is a beautifully restored house away from the hotel, which was lovely
As the house isn’t attached to the hotel it would have been good if they provided some refreshments in the ground floor sitting rooms so you could enjoy being there rather than just being in your room

The rooms are incredibly beautiful and bathroom so massive. Loved the interior, it just added to the whole experience of the stay in St Emillion. location is very central.
If you drive it’s not straight forward to get to. parking is not by the hotel and you need to first get to the closest street to the hotel and go to reception and get directions. it’s a bit overwhelming but actually quite simple. So make sure if driving contact the hotel for instructions on where to stop first.

Very hot over night (but hottest day of year!) Aircon not up to the job - seemed to get hotter later! drop off and car parking arrangements a bit tricky but thats the nature of the town. perhaps details and location map could have been provided in advance. Google map location not quite right - had to ask around to find you

Suite was beautiful and extremely comfortable with super large bathroom and excellent shower. Excellent position, could not get better to traverse the town. We found the decor of each room we used ie breakfast room/outside terrace to be beautiful finished with quality finishes.
Would have preferred to see the housekeeping team who attended our room, to wear more ‘appropriate’ dress code /uniform.

Such a beautiful and ancient building. The suite was simple but elegant and had far reaching views across the rooftops. The staff were really helpful and friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and beautifully presented in the very elegant breakfast room. We would have loved to have had dinner at the hotel but it was not open on the evening of our stay. When we return to St Emilion we will be sure to book again.
